What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
One inspiring thing not mentioned is my commitment to mentoring younger athletes and students in my community. I take pride in being someone they can look up to -not just in sports, but in life. I've spent time helping them with schoolwork, building confidence, and teaching the value of teamwork and perseverance. I also stay active in community service, volunteering at local events and supporting causes that matter to me. These moments may not always make headlines, but they reflect who I am at heart-someone who strives to make a positive impact beyond the spotlight.

What else would you like to talk about?
Graduating high school is both exciting and uncertain, especially as a young woman stepping into college and the wider world. Embracing the unknown can be powerful fear doesn't mean your unprepared; it means you're growing; College is a chance to discover who you are, chase your passions, and build a future that's truly your own. Don't be afraid to take risks, ask questions, and stand strong in your values. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and be that person for others too. The journey ahead is yours-walk into it with courage, curiosity, and confidence.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I've always been passionate about helping others, whether it's through volunteering, offering a listening ear, or simply being there when someone needs support. There's something incredibly meaningful about making a positive difference in someone's life, no matter how small. Helping others brings me joy, purpose, and a sense of connection to the world around me. It has taught me empathy, patience, and the importance of kindness. As I move forward into college and beyond, I hope to continue serving others in bigger ways, using my skills and compassion to uplift those around me and inspire others to do the same.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer through a recommendation from a friend who had an amazing experience with them. After seeing their portfolio and how natural and authentic the photos looked, I knew they were the right choice for me.
My experience was incredible—my photographer made me feel comfortable and confident from the start. They were patient, creative, and really listened to what I wanted. The whole shoot felt fun and relaxed.
What I loved most was how they captured the real me. The photos weren’t overly posed—they felt genuine and full of emotion. I’ll treasure them for years to come.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
A favorite memory with my coach is from senior season when she believed in me even when I doubted myself. Her support pushed me to work harder and helped me exceed my own expectations. She saw potential in me that I hadn’t fully recognized and encouraged me to excel both on and off the court. Her guidance and confidence gave me the strength to overcome challenges and grow. I’m grateful for her kindness and the way she inspired me to reach higher than I ever thought possible. She truly made a lasting impact on my journey.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine to share my story and inspire others to believe in themselves. Being featured would give me a platform to encourage teens facing challenges, showing them that with hard work and support, they can achieve their goals. I hope to motivate others to embrace their passions, overcome doubts, and pursue their dreams confidently. Inspiring Teens Magazine celebrates strength, growth, and positivity—values I deeply connect with and want to promote. It would be an honor to contribute and help create a community where young people uplift and empower each other.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money toward my nursing degree to help cover tuition and related expenses. This support would lessen the financial burden on my parents, who have worked hard to provide me with the opportunity to pursue higher education. Easing their stress means a lot to me and allows me to focus more on my studies and clinical training. This scholarship would bring me one step closer to becoming a nurse and making a positive impact in healthcare, while also showing my gratitude for my family’s sacrifices.

Gianna Turner – Pennsylvania
Nomination by Korissa Turner
Photography by Anthony Panzino Eireann Photography
Issue 92 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Gianna Turner is a beautiful 16-year-old young lady. With a 4.0 GPA, holding down 2 jobs, crowned United States of America’s Teen Pennsylvania and a competitive horseback rider, this teen is astonishing. She has recently given over 100 hours to help feed the homeless as well as be a big sister to many children at a shelter. This girl makes my heart so happy and I am so proud to call her my daughter.
Images by Korissa Turner
Why is having a 4.0 important to you?
Having a 4.0 is a positive reflection of my everyday life. I try my best in everything I do with hopes one day of receiving a full academic scholarship to a university of my choice.

What strategies do you have for studying to keep that record?
I put my education first in almost everything I do. I take a lot of notes and study hard to achieve the best grades that I can get.

What jobs do you have, and which one do you spend the most time at?
I work at a coffee shop as well as an Italian ice shop. I love both of my jobs so much but most of the hours I work are at the Italian Ice job.

What have you learned about yourself working 2 jobs?
It can be very difficult working one job and then going right to the next job- but I have learned to take time for myself even when I am busy. My health and happiness matters even on my busiest days!

Tell us about your road to the crown.
I was crowned United States of America Teen Berks County in January 2024. I then competed for USOA Teen Pennsylvania and won in November 2024! I just got back from their National Pageant in Las Vegas, and I placed top 6. Although I did not win the USOA Teen title- I did walk away with a Gold Presidential Award for my volunteerism!

When did you get started in pageantry and why?
I started at the age of 13. While I do not have as much experience as others, I have learned so much through my 3 years of competing from others and my amazing coach! I will definitely continue competing and spreading my platform!

What do you love most about pageants?
My favorite part of the pageant is the interview with the judges and onstage questions. I love to share all about my platform You've Got GRACE with the judges as well as my sisters. My mission is to help lower the youth suicide rate - sharing my message and inspiring them to believe in themselves. Turning my mess of mental illness into a message!

What has participating in pageants taught you?
Pageants have allowed me to be a better version of myself. It is very easy to talk about how you want to help others and write essays etc., but actually living your platform and interacting and making a difference is a whole new level. I have become the person who empowers, inspires and uplifts others every day!

What is your schedule like to train in competitive horseback riding?
I practice once a week. I compete during IEA season which is fall/winter. While I would love to do a lot more with this sport, I have put more of my time into pageants and my platform.

What is a favorite accomplishment in this sport?
I have 2 major accomplishments. My very first horse jumping competition, I placed first. I was so excited and knew from there on out that this was my favorite sport. My 2nd accomplishment was winning two 1st places at an IEA show. These shows are a lot harder, and I was so pleased with my performance!

Do you have your own horse, and if so, tell us about him/her!
I do not own my own horse unfortunately. Although I would love to own or lease my own horse, I decided to put my time and money into pageantry and volunteering. Maybe one day my answer will be different, but for now, I will just love on all the horses at the barn that I get to ride!

What leadership opportunities have you had in your philanthropic endeavors?
I have had so many opportunities to give back to my community. From feeding the homeless at New Journey, to being a big sister at a homeless shelter, to baking cookies for the families at a Children's Hospital. I have had the honor of giving over 100 hours to these local charities and was granted the Presidential Volunteer Award!

How would you describe yourself as a leader?
I am trustworthy and empathetic. I view myself as a friend who will always listen and not judge your character. I feel that being a leader is more than just leading others. Getting to know someone and understanding their true self will allow you to be a better leader from the inside out.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I have been a model and actor since the age of 3. Being involved in the industry has not only been an amazing and fun experience, but it has also set me up for the future. Giving me connections and skills for when I’m older.

What else would you like to talk about?
I developed a platform called You’ve Got Grace. This is where I go into a classroom, and I teach the children all about their inner voice and having confidence in themselves. My favorite part of the day is when we make confidence crowns, and they get to wear them all day. This reminds them that they are special, no matter what.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Mental health. As a young teen who has personally struggled with mental health, I know how hard it is to deal with. However, this is why I developed my platform YOU’VE GOT GRACE where I can help kids before it gets worse. It’s such a rewarding experience to get to meet and talk to kids. It’s one of my favorite things to do.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I met my photographer, Anthony, through a modeling friend who introduced me to him. He has done so many photos for me, from modeling to acting to pageants. My favorite part of my sessions is that he makes me feel so comfortable and allows me to see the photos right there on the spot. His hair and makeup team makes me look my best and I couldn’t think of anyone else I would like to work with.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
The person that nominated me was my mom. I couldn’t pick just one favorite moment. She has been there for me always and has help me tremendously in life. She has given me opportunities that I could have never imagined receiving. I am so blessed to have her as my mom, and the fact that she nominated me for this is so kind. I couldn’t be more grateful.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
Inspiring Teens Magazine showcases teens who represent their community and state. I feel as though I could bring an amazing story to the magazine. My story is not only about me, but about others too. I want to change lives, and this magazine will be a huge steppingstone to meet that goal.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I want to expand my platform YOU’VE GOT GRACE where I help kids struggling with mental health. Winning a scholarship will help me to travel to different states meeting new faces. My main end goal is to lower the youth suicide rate so, if you pick me, you won’t only just be helping me chase my dream, but you will also be saving lives.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
To be a Marine Biologist. My love for nature, the ocean, animals and science are at my forefront. I am made for the beach life, although I live in Pennsylvania! This is my ideal job, and I hope to make it happen in the near future!

Audrey Bolton

Audrey Bolton - California
Nomination & Photography by Dionne Bolton Photography
Issue 92 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Audrey Bolton - I’ve always believed that helping others is one of life’s greatest purposes. I want to bring light to people’s darkest days and be a source of strength when they need it most. After struggling with self-image during COVID, I realized how vital mental health is—and how healing can inspire purpose. I started high school knowing nothing about volleyball, but with hard work and heart, I became MVP my junior and senior year. Growing up in a small town gave me strong roots, and now I’m ready to rise, play at the college level, and use my story to uplift others.
Photography by Dionne Bolton Photography

What is your favorite way to help others?
My favorite way to help others is by spreading positive energy and truly listening when someone needs to be heard. In the world we have today there is a lot of judgment, rushing to fix things, or just having someone’s full attention. I believe that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for someone is to be there for them, whether it's using kind words, having a calm attitude, or the willingness to listen can make a bigger difference than people realize.

How would you describe yourself as a leader?
I see myself as a leader who lifts others up and sets a good example. I like to stay positive and make sure everyone feels included and heard. I'm good at staying calm in tough situations and helping people work together as a team. As a quiet person, being a leader isn’t about being the loudest voice, it’s about being supportive, responsible, and making sure everyone feels like they matter.

What has been your favorite leadership opportunity?
My favorite leadership opportunity has been becoming a role model for my younger sister. She means everything to me, and I’ve wanted to show her what it looks like to be confident, kind, and driven. Whether it’s through how I handle challenges, how I treat others, or how I go after my goals, I try to lead in a way that inspires her. It’s a huge responsibility to me, and it’s taught me that leadership isn’t always about titles, it’s about being someone others can look up to, especially the people who matter most.

How did you overcome self-image issues during covid?
During COVID I was a young girl and it was easy to get caught up in comparing myself to others, especially online. I started to feel insecure about how I looked and who I was. What helped me overcome those self-image issues was learning to be kinder to myself and realizing life will never be perfect. Keeping my loved ones close and doing things I love like volleyball has helped me overcome this struggle and overtime I’ve learned that confidence comes from accepting who I am, not from trying to be perfect.

How would you help others dealing with self-image issues?
If you're dealing with self-image issues, the first thing you should understand is that you're not alone. So many people struggle with insecurities, even if they don’t show it. I would remind others to stay true to who they are and not let outside opinions or unrealistic images affect how they see themselves. Everyone is unique, and that’s something to be proud of. Confidence doesn’t come from being perfect, it comes from accepting and loving yourself as you are. I want to be someone who listens, supports, and helps others realize their worth, no matter what they’re going through.

Tell us about your volleyball career.
I started playing volleyball my freshman year of high school and instantly fell in love with the sport. At first, I was just trying something new, but it quickly became something I truly cared about. By my junior year, I decided to take it more seriously and joined a club team because I knew I wanted to keep growing and possibly take it further beyond high school. Playing volleyball has taught me so much, like how to work hard, communicate better, and stay focused even under pressure.

What made you join and where are you at with it now?
I first joined volleyball because I wanted to try something new, but I quickly realized how much I loved it. It has helped me build friendships and feel part of a team. Being on the court with a group of girls who supported each other made a big difference for me, especially in high school. Now, I’m continuing my journey by playing college volleyball, and I’m so excited to be part of a new team, grow as a player, and take on new challenges at the next level.

What position do you play and why do you love it?
I play middle blocker, and I love it because there’s so much action on the net. Whether it’s blocking, covering, or hitting, I enjoy playing middle and staying active throughout the game. I can also play outside hitter when needed, but what I really love is the sport overall. The energy, the teamwork, and especially the competitiveness. Volleyball pushes me to be a better person and athlete and that's why I keep going back.

What will you miss most about your small town when you head off to college?
As excited as I am to explore new places and experiences, there’s a lot I’ll miss about my small town. I’ll miss the feeling of familiarity, the lifelong friendships, and the comfort of seeing familiar faces wherever I go. I’ll miss my family, the park where I’ve made so many memories, and the quiet streets that always felt like home. Growing up in a small town has shaped who I am, and while it’s hard to leave, I know it’s time to step outside my comfort zone and see what the world has to offer.

What are you looking forward to most at college?
I’ve lived in a small town for the past 14 years, and while I’m grateful for my small community and the memories I’ve made, I’m so excited to step out and explore the real world. What I’m looking forward to most in college is meeting new people, living in a new city, and discovering places and experiences I’ve never had before. I’m ready for change. I want to grow, learn, and push myself outside of my comfort zone. It’s a little scary, but it feels like the adventure I’ve been waiting for.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I have a big heart for people with special needs and a strong desire to make a difference in their lives. Bringing joy to others fills me with purpose and motivates me every day. As an energetic and outgoing athlete, I lead with positivity, compassion, and a commitment to lifting others up. Helping those in need is a part of who I am.

What else would you like to talk about?
Being yourself isn’t always easy in a world that tries to shape you into something else. I’ve battled self-doubt and insecurity, but I’ve come out stronger by learning to love who I am. Now, I want to encourage others to be confident with themselves no matter what anyone says. You don’t need to change to be accepted. Being yourself is more than enough. Confidence starts with believing that.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Family and friends mean everything to me. They give me so much love, support, and strength. I’m passionate about being there for the people I care about through the highs and the lows. Life is better when you’re surrounded by those who lift you up, and I always try to do the same for them.

What is your friend group like and how do you have fun together?
My friend group means the world to me. They’ve helped me grow into my true self by always accepting me without judgment. I can count on them no matter what, and I know they genuinely care about me. We’ve shared so many memories, from spontaneous trips to laughing uncontrollably over inside jokes in class. These everyday moments became the highlights of high school. Even though we’ll soon be heading in different directions, I’m not worried. We’ve built a bond strong enough to last a lifetime, and I know these friendships will always be a part of who I am.

What is a favorite memory with your friends?
One of my favorite memories with my friends is riding the bus to and from high school sports games. Those long rides were full of everything. Laughter, singing, and even a few tears. Whether we were celebrating a win or just trying to cheer each other up after a tough game, those moments brought us closer together. We shared stories, made jokes, and created memories I’ll never forget.

Tell us about your family. Where do you fit in and where do you stand out?
I come from a close, loving family with two sisters and two amazing parents. Being the middle child has given me a unique perspective. I’ve gotten to experience what it’s like to look up to an older sibling while also being a role model to my younger sister. I think that’s helped me become more understanding, patient, and compassionate. I definitely stand out in how deeply I care. I have a big heart for my family and always try to be someone they can count on. We’ve shared so much together, and they’ve played a huge role in shaping who I am.

What family trip or vacation will you never forget and why?
One family trip I’ll never forget is our recent vacation to Hawaii. It was such an incredible experience. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and I felt so lucky to be there with the people I love most. We spent time exploring, relaxing, and just enjoying the beauty around us, and it brought us even closer together. Before that, we used to take road trips up to Montana, which were always full of laughter, inside jokes, and little moments that made those long drives unforgettable. These trips were special in their own way and I will never forget them.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
My mom has been my photographer since I was a little kid, capturing moments that mean the world to us. These senior photos are especially meaningful. They reflect not just this milestone, but years of love and memories. Every shoot with her is filled with laughter, beautiful scenery, and inside jokes that bring out my real smile. It’s more than just taking pictures; it’s a special bond we share.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My mom means the world to me, and I’m so grateful she nominated me. We’ve made so many amazing memories, whether it’s doing photoshoots, cheering me on at volleyball games, or just relaxing together watching movies. She’s always been there for me with love and support. I feel incredibly lucky to have her in my life, and I’ll cherish our moments together forever.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine to motivate others my age to be kind and true to themselves. Everyone has the ability to make a difference when they choose to act with kindness and authenticity. By being yourself and showing compassion, you can inspire others and help create a better world.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I were awarded this scholarship, I would use the money to help cover my school tuition and housing expenses. It would make the finances easier on my family and allow me to focus more on my education and goals. This opportunity would mean so much to me and bring me closer to building the life and career I’ve always wanted.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches because I would not be here today without them. They have taught me so much and have made me grow into a more confident person. I will appreciate them forever and contrite to grow with them.

Photography by Lynnette Wisk - My Pink Photography

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Despite struggling with my mental and physical healthy, I have made it my mission to be the best version of myself I can be. I have grown to persevere in times of struggle and I consistently strive to be my most authentic self. I have been placed in many leadership roles throughout my life, whether it be as Cheer Captain or a member of Student Government, I aspire to be a trustworthy role model.

What is your leadership style?
I like to lead with grace and understanding. A team is made of many individual people with different personalities and needs. As a leader, I pride myself with being a safe place for every single person, and highlighting the best in them. Certain people have specific strengths and weaknesses, so it is my job to allow people to showcase their strengths, and build up their weaknesses.

What is your strongest leadership quality?
I believe my strongest leadership quality is my ability to uplift. I’ve been labeled as a leader since I was little, so it took trial and error to understanding that I, myself, have to have a positive attitude. The rest of my teammates have always counted on me to pick them up while they were down, so I had to find the light in tough situations.

What is a favorite accomplishment with cheer?
My favorite accomplishment with cheer is winning the Summit when I was 12. After moving to Florida from Georgia, I had to find a new Allstar gym. This led me to Brandon Allstars, where I made level three during my first year. At the end of the year, we won our biggest competition of the season. I’ll never forget that. It taught me that change can be good.

What is a favorite memory with your cheer team?
With my school cheer team, my fellow seniors and I had to “initiate” the new people to the team. We had a long day of UCA camp, so none of the new girls expected it. We split into groups, picked them up from their houses, went on a scavenger hunt, and had a big sleepover. It was so much fun and an amazing bonding moment.

Why did you choose to be a member of Student Government and what did you learn from it?
I chose to be a member of student government as my older sisters participated in it and told me how much they loved it. I learned to showcase school spirit, be social, and take on large tasks in small amounts of time.

What responsibilities did you have as a member?
I had to assist in planning school events, making decorations for the school, designing apparel for students, rewarding students for their accomplishments, and celebrating teacher dedication to the school.

What did you learn about yourself in the process?
I learned that I am able to work well with others, as well as handle a lot at once. I learned that I am very creative, and have some pretty cool ideas.

What else would you like to talk about?
My little sister. She is my absolute rock and the person I work endlessly to be perfect for. I love her with my whole heart, and want to be someone she can always turn to. She is my best-friend and I feel so blessed to be by her side.

What do you and your sister like to do together?
We love to go on long drives. When we both need to separate from everyone, driving with music is the way to disconnect. We love to debrief about our lives and talk when we need it.

What is a favorite tradition with her that you hope never ends?
My favorite tradition is our annual sleepover on Christmas Eve. It isn’t a big party or anything, but every year we sleep in one of our rooms and wake everyone up for presents. In our family, we’re the youngest. Being excited about Christmas feels like our duty, so I hope everyone always see us that way.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Film, movies, and music. I absolutely adore the cinema. It’s what I want to do with my life, and I want to do it well. I find details in the simplest movies and pieces of music, although most people don’t really understand how. Something about film moves me in a way that makes me feel connected to it. It is my passion and dream to make movies.

What movie or film could you watch over and over and why?
Even though it’s a comedy, I can watch Project X over and over. I’m usually drawn to more complex movies, but this movie is so nostalgic for me. It’s so refreshing to see people living freely and having the time of their lives. Every time I watch, I am reminded to enjoy my youth and not care what others think.

If you could star in a remake of any movie, what would it be, who would you play, and why?
If I could star in a remake of any movie, it would be the Giver. I read the book and watched the movie in middle school, but I think it would be so amazing if redone. The storyline and messages are so incredible. The main character is pretty similar to me, so I’d love to take on a different version of myself.

What is your favorite genre of music and what is your current favorite song?
My music taste varies extremely, but I’d say my favorite music genre is definitely indie. I tend to listen to the production and instruments of a song, rather than the lyrics. My favorite song at the moment is definitely not indie, but is so captivating and wonderfully made. This is Beautiful Boy/ Downstream by Rowan Drake. You HAVE to listen to it.

What is your dream job if you could land it right now today?
If I could land my dream job today, it would be the main actress in a big movie, or the director of it. Since I was a baby, I knew where my life would take me. Making movies has always felt like my purpose, and I intend to do just that.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
She is a close family friend. Her daughter, Julia is my older sister’s best friend. They met through cheerleading. Ever since, Lynnette has taken every single photo for us. Every experience with her is so amazing and genuinely fun! She makes me feel so confident and uses her skills to capture me in the best way. I love her ability to find hidden gems in any location, that will bring out the best in a photo.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory of Lynnette has to be the time she photographed my Cheerleading and Football team’s senior photos. She made it so fun and enjoyable, while capturing us in the best light. Ultimately, I think she is such a pure and kind human being, who will always bring out the best in anyone.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
Being a teenager is hard. I personally have suffered through bullying and changes through my body/ personality. These pictures made me feel so beautiful and genuinely showed my growth. It would be nice to be a success story to inspire others that they can persevere and come out stronger and more confident than the girl I started out as.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I will be attending an out of state college far away from my family. Scholarship money would be a blessing to assist with tuition costs and or/travel in hopes of having a successful college experience, as well as pursuing my dreams.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I’d like to thank my family for supporting me endlessly, and showing me what unconditional love is. I’d like to thank Miss Lynette Wisk for capturing me in such a positive light.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?

Why is summa cum laude so meaningful to you?
Graduating Summa Cum Laude is deeply meaningful to me because it represents more than just academic success - it reflects years of discipline, sacrifice, and resilience. Every late night, every moment of doubt and anxiety, along with every challenge I overcame has led to this milestone. It’s a reminder of my growth, my perseverance, and my belief in what’s possible when one stays committed to one’s goals.

What was your favorite class you had last year and what is the  most interesting you learned?
My favorite class was macro economics, because it helped me understand how large-scale economic forces; like inflation, unemployment, and monetary policy, affect our daily lives. The most interesting thing I learned was how central banks use interest rates to stabilize the economy. It was eye-opening to see how these concepts play out in the real world, influencing everything from job markets to the cost of living. This class showed me the powerful role economics plays in shaping society and policy.

Tell us about your high school and what you will miss most about it.
Mater Dei high school has been a place of academic challenge, spiritual growth, and personal transformation. I’m especially grateful for the diverse student body and the variety of perspectives that broadened my understanding and shaped who I am. I’ll miss the supportive teachers, spirited traditions, and the everyday moments shared with friends. Mater Dei has given me more than an education - it’s given me community and a foundation for life. I leave with immense gratitude, overflowing pride, and the Mater Dei motto, “honor, glory, love” – and lasting memories that will guide me into the future.

What are you most looking forward to in college - other than learning of course!
Besides learning, I am most looking forward to building connections with people from diverse backgrounds, and becoming part of a dynamic campus community. I’m especially excited to meeting new and life-long friends, as well as engage with other women in the sciences – sharing experiences, supporting one another, and contributing to a field where representation still matters. Through clubs, research opportunities, and meaningful conversations. I hope to grow not just academically, but also as a confident, collaborative woman in STEM who uplift others along the way.

What are you hoping to do with your bio-chemistry degree?
With my Biochemistry degree, I hope to pursue a career in Forensic Science, where I can apply my knowledge to help solve crimes and uncover the truth through scientific evidence. I’m passionate about using science in service of justice, and I’m excited to work with the intersection of biology, chemistry, and criminal investigation to make a meaningful impact

What is MUN club and why do you love being a part of it?
Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations, where students take on the roles of delegates to debate global issues, write resolutions, and develop diplomatic solutions. I love being part of MUN because it challenges me to think critically, speak confidently, and understand perspectives from around the world. It has helped me grow as a leader, a communicator, and a global citizen – and I enjoy the sense of purpose and teamwork that comes with every conference.

What have you learned in MUN club?
Being a part of MUN has taught me valuable skills like public speaking, critical thinking, and diplomacy. I’ve learned how to research complex, global issues, collaborate with diverse perspectives, and negotiate solutions under pressure MUN has also deepened my understanding of international relations and helped me become more confident and adaptable – skills I know will benefit me in my future career in forensics.

Tell us about your volleyball career.
I was dedicated to volleyball for six years, starting at age 10 and training consistently through age 16. I played for various volleyball clubs and school teams, including through my Sophomore year at Mater Dei, a program were even strong players don’t always make the team. The experience challenged me to grow both athletically and mentally, pushing me to improve my skills, stay disciplined, and be resilient. Volleyball taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance – lessons that continue to influence how I approach goals in my everyday life.

What position do you play and why does it suit you?
Just starting out, I was a hitter, as height didn’t matter in the early years. As I developed, I became an all-around player, ultimately landing as a Libero/Defensive Specialist my last 4 years because I was a strong communicator, agile, a smart defensive player with exceptional passing ability.

What is a favorite memory with your volleyball team?
My favorite volleyball memory is coming back from a hard-fought match in a club tournament, my last year, after a huge deficit. Our team stayed focused, supported each other, and never gave up even though it seemed impossible to bridge the gap. Ultimately, we didn’t win the game but the energy on the court, the celebration afterward, because of the hard-fought fight, and the pride we felt in our teamwork was unforgettable. It reminded me that belief, effort, and unity can turn any game around.

What does it mean to be a national high school scholar?
Being a National High School Scholar means to be recognized for academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to making a positive impact. NSHSS connects students to a global network of driven peers, as well as opportunities for scholarships, leadership programs, and college or career development. It’s an honor to be associated with such passionate peers which reflects dedication to learning and a desire to grow both in and outside the classroom.

What did becoming a National Hispanic recognition award winner entail on your end?
Receiving the National’s Hispanic Recognition Award meant being honored for my academic achievements as a Hispanic student. It was based on my strong PSAT score as a high school junior, overall GPA, and class performance, and it recognizes the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my education. It’s a meaningful acknowledgment of both my heritage and my commitment to academic excellence.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I believe that I’m an example of resilience and determination. Throughout high school, I challenged myself with vigorous AP courses, committed to my goal of studying the sciences in college. A dedicated volleyball player for six years, I stepped away from the sport due to injuries and to focus on academics. Alongside my achievements, i have faced anxiety issues and an eating disorder – struggles I overcame with strength and grace. My journey not only shaped my character, but also allowed me to support others facing similar battles. I can only hope that my perseverance, compassion, and drive continue to inspire others who know me .

What else would you like to talk about?
I have spent some time volunteering with various youth organizations just sharing kindness, strength, and honesty. By sharing my journey and balancing academics with personal challenges – I definitely know that our struggles don’t define us. My dedication to learning and my dream of studying Biochemistry, I hope can motivate others to aim high. I listen without judgment, offering encouragement and hope to those who need it most. My goal is to always create a safe, uplifting space where kids feel seen, heard, and empowered to believe in themselves. I try to lead by example to prove that with courage, anything is possible.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk forever about the power of perseverance and the science behind the human mind and body. I am passionate about how the brain works and how science and technology play a pivotal role in our lives, especially in connection with health and recovery. My experiences have fueled a deep interest in helping others heal, and grow. Whether discussing breakthroughs in psychology and forensics, or sharing my journey, I definitely light up when talking about resilience, self discovery, and the importance of never giving up on yourself.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
It was quite easy to find Jennifer Imus Photography, just a quick internet search for local photographers. We knew we wanted someone local so that was the easy part. Knowing the area, my mom and I loved that she was in “old town” with a great space and just loved her online photo gallery. We knew she was the one. We loved most that she knows our local area and great ideas of where to go and the perfect vision. She’s excited about what she does and it shows in her work and personality.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
The time spent together “sitting” for the photos felt like fun and worth while. We laughed a lot and talked about my journey through high school and my future college plans and dreams. It was special that her daughter joined us because she too was inspiring, just having graduated from my dream university.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be someone who turns challenges into purpose, and uses my experiences to inspire and support others. I want to be known for my strength, empathy, and determination to make a difference – whether through a young women in the sciences, mentoring, or just being someone others can look up to. My goal is to show that no matter what you go through, you can rise up, succeed, and help others to the same. That’s who I strive to be.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I would definitely use this scholarship money to help fund my college education with a much needed powerful, state of art laptop. It would allow me to continue focusing on my studies with less financial stress, giving me the freedom to fully engage in research, internships and possibly volunteer opportunities This would help bring me one step closer to my goal of making a meaningful impact in Biochemistry and Forensics and help others through science.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
If offered my dream job today, I would work as a forensic scientist in a crime lab using biochemistry to analyze evidence and help solve criminal cases. I would combine science and justice by examining DNA, toxicology, or trace evidence to uncover the truth. The opportunity to contribute to real investigations and bring clarity to complex cases would be both exciting and deeply meaningful to me.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Of course! I want to sincerely thank my parents for their unwavering support, love and sacrifices that have helped me reach this point. Their encouragement has been my foundation, pushing me to work hard and believe in myself every step of the way. I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done to help me and will continue to help me pursue my dreams.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
If I had nothing to do all day and all day to do it, I would spend my time at the beach – reading, free diving, and enjoying quality moments with friends. It’s my perfect way to unwind, connect with nature, and recharge.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I’m super excited about getting ready to move out and start college and everything that comes along with it! From meeting new people and exploring new places to gaining independence and new experiences, I can’t wait to embrace this next chapter of my life.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
I, by no means, him I finished with my own development or with who or what I want to be, but my advice to anyone who wants to be where I am today is to stay focused, work hard, and never underestimate the power of persistence. Always surround yourself with supportive people, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or take reasonable risks. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but with dedication and a positive attitude you can achieve your goals.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
In five years, I see myself making meaningful impact through science. I see myself more independent, confident, and driven - building a life and career that I’m proud of. I see myself working as a forensic scientist using my biochemistry degree to help solve cases and contribute to justice. I hope to be part of a strong crime lab and investigative team continuing to learn and grow.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
Free-diving is my favorite activity because it gives me an immense sense of peace and connection to nature. I love the silence beneath the surface of the ocean, the freedom of moving with each breath, and the beauty of exploring the underwater world. It’s where I feel most alive and centered.

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
The only hidden talent that I can think of is solving puzzles. Whether it’s a tricky brain teaser or a complex logic problem or just a jigsaw puzzle, I love the challenge of piecing things together. It sharpens my focus and keeps me curious and always gives me a sense of satisfaction when everything clicks into place

3 Things on your bucket list
I am so young I have tons of things on my bucket list. It’s hard to name just three. But, for now. I would say one is scuba diving to enhance my love of free-diving and the wonderful underwater experiences I can only imagine for now. There are so many once in a lifetime travel experiences that come to mind, such as a safari in Africa. And, maybe one day writing and publishing a book.

Who do you find inspiring?
Ever since the 3rd grade when I dressed up as Marie Curie for our school project and learned about her life and accomplishments, I’ve been inspired by the first woman to win a Noble prize in two different scientific fields. She had a rare brilliance and determination. She broke barriers for women who were largely excluded from science and academia. Her success helped open doors for women in science. She also had a commitment to humanity having developed mobile x-ray units and trained women to operate them, helping save countless lives.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I can only hope that my hard work, focus, and determination can inspire others.

Tell us about your love for academics. What interests you most?
I’ve always had a strong love for academics because I genuinely enjoy learning and challenging myself to grow. There’s something exciting about gaining new knowledge and pushing my mind to think deeper. Out of all my subjects, English interests me the most. I love how it allows me to express myself creatively, explore different perspectives, and connect with the emotions and experiences of others through writing and literature. Whether I’m analyzing a poem or crafting an essay, English makes me feel inspired and engaged in a way no other subject does.

What was your favorite class last year and what was the most interesting thing you learned?
My favorite class last year was history because I loved learning about the events and people that shaped the world we live in today. The most interesting topics we studied were World War I and World War II. I was fascinated by how both wars started, the impact they had on different countries, and the stories of the people who lived through them. Learning about the battles, alliances, and political changes gave me a deeper understanding of how history repeats itself and why it’s so important to study the past. Those units really stuck with me and made history feel real and meaningful.

How would you describe your leadership style as a mentor?
I would describe my leadership style as a mentor as supportive, approachable, and encouraging. I try to lead by example and create a safe space where the people I’m mentoring feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing. I believe in listening closely, offering guidance when needed, and helping others discover their own strengths and confidence. I’m not the kind of mentor who just gives answers—I like to help others think things through and learn by doing. My goal is to empower the people I mentor and make them feel seen, understood, and capable of achieving their goals.

What is your strongest leadership quality?
My strongest leadership quality is my empathy. I naturally try to understand how others are feeling and what they might be going through, which helps me connect with people on a deeper level. As a leader, this allows me to be supportive, patient, and thoughtful in how I guide and encourage others. I believe that people do their best when they feel understood and valued, and I make it a priority to create that kind of environment. Empathy helps me lead with compassion and build strong, trusting relationships with those I support.

In what ways do you mentor others?
As a mentor, I will support others by sharing my knowledge and experiences, especially through dance. I want to help dancers grow not only in their technique, but also in their confidence and passion. I’ll offer guidance during rehearsals, give helpful feedback, and always be there to cheer them on. I believe in leading with kindness and patience, creating a space where everyone feels safe to express themselves and make mistakes. Whether it’s helping someone with choreography, encouraging them before a performance, or just being someone they can talk to, I’ll mentor with heart and positivity.

What volunteer opportunities have you had?
Honestly I haven’t had many yet because I am just starting but in 2018 I volunteered to model wisemen dance costumes and I would have to talk to talk to people about the costumes and things about the company. I have also done a lot of assisting little kids at my dance studio because I love to help them and what them grow into amazing dancers, I will help teach classes or I will help with recitals and competitions.

Which has been the most rewarding and why?
I think assisting has been the most rewarding because I always walk into dance with little kids coming up to me to give me hugs and I have made so many fun memories with little dancers, some are sweet moments and some are funny moments I experience with the little fire crackers!

What have you learned about yourself volunteering?
I use to not want kids at all, I did not like kids at all in general but assisting has made me love little kids and now I want to start babysitting as soon as I’m in high school. I also want to find ways to help little kids when I’m older in any way I can, even if that is just donating to shelters or charities I want to help.

What else would you like to talk about?

Self-care is essential for maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It helps reduce stress, boosts self-esteem, and prevents burnout by encouraging balance in daily life. Engaging in regular self-care—like eating well, exercising, sleeping enough, and setting boundaries—improves focus and resilience. It also enhances relationships by allowing individuals to be more present and supportive. Prioritizing self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a necessary practice for overall health and productivity. In a fast-paced world, taking time to care for oneself promotes long-term wellness and empowers people to face challenges more effectively, ultimately leading to a more fulfilled and balanced life.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?

Mental health in teens is a critical issue, as adolescence is a time of rapid emotional, physical, and social change. Many teens face pressure from school, social media, family expectations, and peer relationships, which can lead to anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges. Early recognition and support are essential to prevent long-term effects. Encouraging open conversations, providing access to counseling, and promoting healthy coping strategies can make a significant difference. Teens need safe environments where they feel heard and supported. Prioritizing mental health helps them build resilience, confidence, and the ability to handle stress as they grow into adulthood.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?

I met Cristian, the dance photographer, through Instagram. I had been following her work for a while, captivated by how she perfectly captured the grace and emotion of dancers in motion. One day, I reached out with a simple compliment on her latest photo, and to my surprise, she responded. We started chatting about her approach to dance photography and how she merges artistry with athleticism. She shared some behind-the-scenes tips, and we quickly realized we had a lot in common creatively. From there, our connection grew, and we've collaborated on a few projects, each one more inspiring than the last. I truly love her kindness and bubbly personality.

Tell us about your dance career. When did you get started and where are you at with it now?
I started dance at the age of 4, it was 2015 and my mom put me in dance because I loved watching “Dancing With The Stars” and I would try to copy the moves that the dancers would do. Now I have been dancing for 9 years total, and 7 years of competitive dance. I absolutely love dance and I love to express my life stories and emotions through dance.

What do you love most about dance?
Performing is my favorite part of dance because it’s when everything comes to life. After all the hard work, rehearsals, and dedication, being on stage feels like pure magic. I love the adrenaline, the energy from the audience, and the chance to fully express myself through movement. It’s the moment where I can let go, connect to the music, and share a story with everyone watching. Performing allows me to be present, confident, and free—it’s the part of dance that makes me feel the most alive.

What kinds of dances have you studied? Which is your favorite and why?
I have studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, ballroom, Afro jazz, hip hop and fusion. I would say contemporary is my favorite because I love how unique and quirky the style is. It also is a fun way to express myself and I feel like I just feel happy when I do contemporary.

What has dance taught you?
Dance has taught me so much more than just movement—it’s taught me discipline, perseverance, and self-expression. It’s shown me the importance of hard work and commitment, and how progress comes from pushing through challenges. Dance has helped me build confidence in myself and trust in my body and instincts. It’s also taught me how to work as part of a team, support others, and communicate without words. Most importantly, dance has taught me to be proud of who I am and to never stop growing, both as a dancer and as a person.

What is a favorite accomplishment from dance?

My favorite dance accomplishment is last year when I won title winner twice and title runner up at nationals. I also am very proud of all 20 of the magazines I’m in.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?

One of my favorite memories with my mom is when we went to the Billie Eilish concert on December 13, 2024. It was a night full of excitement, energy, and pure joy. We sang along to every song, felt the music deep in our hearts, and shared a sense of connection that only a live performance can bring. My mom, usually reserved, couldn’t help but get swept up in the crowd’s enthusiasm. It felt like we were in our own you’ll xelittle world, creating a memory that we’ll cherish forever. That night, the bond between us felt stronger than ever.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?

I want to be featured in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I believe in the power of sharing stories to motivate and uplift others. As a teen navigating challenges and pursuing my goals, I want to inspire others to stay focused, embrace their uniqueness, and believe in their potential. Being in the magazine would give me the opportunity to showcase my passions, accomplishments, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I hope to connect with other like-minded teens and serve as a reminder that no matter the obstacles, we all have the power to make a positive impact.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?

If I win a scholarship, I plan to use the money to help purchase my first car. Having reliable transportation will make a huge difference in my daily life, whether it’s commuting to work, school, or running errands. It will give me more independence and freedom, allowing me to balance my responsibilities more easily. I’ll also use part of the funds to cover any car-related expenses, like insurance and maintenance. This scholarship would be a huge step toward achieving my goal of owning a car and gaining the independence I need as I move forward in life.
