Tell us about your love for academics. What interests you most?
I’ve always had a strong love for academics because I genuinely enjoy learning and challenging myself to grow. There’s something exciting about gaining new knowledge and pushing my mind to think deeper. Out of all my subjects, English interests me the most. I love how it allows me to express myself creatively, explore different perspectives, and connect with the emotions and experiences of others through writing and literature. Whether I’m analyzing a poem or crafting an essay, English makes me feel inspired and engaged in a way no other subject does.

What was your favorite class last year and what was the most interesting thing you learned?
My favorite class last year was history because I loved learning about the events and people that shaped the world we live in today. The most interesting topics we studied were World War I and World War II. I was fascinated by how both wars started, the impact they had on different countries, and the stories of the people who lived through them. Learning about the battles, alliances, and political changes gave me a deeper understanding of how history repeats itself and why it’s so important to study the past. Those units really stuck with me and made history feel real and meaningful.

How would you describe your leadership style as a mentor?
I would describe my leadership style as a mentor as supportive, approachable, and encouraging. I try to lead by example and create a safe space where the people I’m mentoring feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing. I believe in listening closely, offering guidance when needed, and helping others discover their own strengths and confidence. I’m not the kind of mentor who just gives answers—I like to help others think things through and learn by doing. My goal is to empower the people I mentor and make them feel seen, understood, and capable of achieving their goals.

What is your strongest leadership quality?
My strongest leadership quality is my empathy. I naturally try to understand how others are feeling and what they might be going through, which helps me connect with people on a deeper level. As a leader, this allows me to be supportive, patient, and thoughtful in how I guide and encourage others. I believe that people do their best when they feel understood and valued, and I make it a priority to create that kind of environment. Empathy helps me lead with compassion and build strong, trusting relationships with those I support.

In what ways do you mentor others?
As a mentor, I will support others by sharing my knowledge and experiences, especially through dance. I want to help dancers grow not only in their technique, but also in their confidence and passion. I’ll offer guidance during rehearsals, give helpful feedback, and always be there to cheer them on. I believe in leading with kindness and patience, creating a space where everyone feels safe to express themselves and make mistakes. Whether it’s helping someone with choreography, encouraging them before a performance, or just being someone they can talk to, I’ll mentor with heart and positivity.

What volunteer opportunities have you had?
Honestly I haven’t had many yet because I am just starting but in 2018 I volunteered to model wisemen dance costumes and I would have to talk to talk to people about the costumes and things about the company. I have also done a lot of assisting little kids at my dance studio because I love to help them and what them grow into amazing dancers, I will help teach classes or I will help with recitals and competitions.

Which has been the most rewarding and why?
I think assisting has been the most rewarding because I always walk into dance with little kids coming up to me to give me hugs and I have made so many fun memories with little dancers, some are sweet moments and some are funny moments I experience with the little fire crackers!

What have you learned about yourself volunteering?
I use to not want kids at all, I did not like kids at all in general but assisting has made me love little kids and now I want to start babysitting as soon as I’m in high school. I also want to find ways to help little kids when I’m older in any way I can, even if that is just donating to shelters or charities I want to help.

What else would you like to talk about?

Self-care is essential for maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It helps reduce stress, boosts self-esteem, and prevents burnout by encouraging balance in daily life. Engaging in regular self-care—like eating well, exercising, sleeping enough, and setting boundaries—improves focus and resilience. It also enhances relationships by allowing individuals to be more present and supportive. Prioritizing self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a necessary practice for overall health and productivity. In a fast-paced world, taking time to care for oneself promotes long-term wellness and empowers people to face challenges more effectively, ultimately leading to a more fulfilled and balanced life.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?

Mental health in teens is a critical issue, as adolescence is a time of rapid emotional, physical, and social change. Many teens face pressure from school, social media, family expectations, and peer relationships, which can lead to anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges. Early recognition and support are essential to prevent long-term effects. Encouraging open conversations, providing access to counseling, and promoting healthy coping strategies can make a significant difference. Teens need safe environments where they feel heard and supported. Prioritizing mental health helps them build resilience, confidence, and the ability to handle stress as they grow into adulthood.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?

I met Cristian, the dance photographer, through Instagram. I had been following her work for a while, captivated by how she perfectly captured the grace and emotion of dancers in motion. One day, I reached out with a simple compliment on her latest photo, and to my surprise, she responded. We started chatting about her approach to dance photography and how she merges artistry with athleticism. She shared some behind-the-scenes tips, and we quickly realized we had a lot in common creatively. From there, our connection grew, and we've collaborated on a few projects, each one more inspiring than the last. I truly love her kindness and bubbly personality.

Tell us about your dance career. When did you get started and where are you at with it now?
I started dance at the age of 4, it was 2015 and my mom put me in dance because I loved watching “Dancing With The Stars” and I would try to copy the moves that the dancers would do. Now I have been dancing for 9 years total, and 7 years of competitive dance. I absolutely love dance and I love to express my life stories and emotions through dance.

What do you love most about dance?
Performing is my favorite part of dance because it’s when everything comes to life. After all the hard work, rehearsals, and dedication, being on stage feels like pure magic. I love the adrenaline, the energy from the audience, and the chance to fully express myself through movement. It’s the moment where I can let go, connect to the music, and share a story with everyone watching. Performing allows me to be present, confident, and free—it’s the part of dance that makes me feel the most alive.

What kinds of dances have you studied? Which is your favorite and why?
I have studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, ballroom, Afro jazz, hip hop and fusion. I would say contemporary is my favorite because I love how unique and quirky the style is. It also is a fun way to express myself and I feel like I just feel happy when I do contemporary.

What has dance taught you?
Dance has taught me so much more than just movement—it’s taught me discipline, perseverance, and self-expression. It’s shown me the importance of hard work and commitment, and how progress comes from pushing through challenges. Dance has helped me build confidence in myself and trust in my body and instincts. It’s also taught me how to work as part of a team, support others, and communicate without words. Most importantly, dance has taught me to be proud of who I am and to never stop growing, both as a dancer and as a person.

What is a favorite accomplishment from dance?

My favorite dance accomplishment is last year when I won title winner twice and title runner up at nationals. I also am very proud of all 20 of the magazines I’m in.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?

One of my favorite memories with my mom is when we went to the Billie Eilish concert on December 13, 2024. It was a night full of excitement, energy, and pure joy. We sang along to every song, felt the music deep in our hearts, and shared a sense of connection that only a live performance can bring. My mom, usually reserved, couldn’t help but get swept up in the crowd’s enthusiasm. It felt like we were in our own you’ll xelittle world, creating a memory that we’ll cherish forever. That night, the bond between us felt stronger than ever.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?

I want to be featured in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I believe in the power of sharing stories to motivate and uplift others. As a teen navigating challenges and pursuing my goals, I want to inspire others to stay focused, embrace their uniqueness, and believe in their potential. Being in the magazine would give me the opportunity to showcase my passions, accomplishments, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I hope to connect with other like-minded teens and serve as a reminder that no matter the obstacles, we all have the power to make a positive impact.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?

If I win a scholarship, I plan to use the money to help purchase my first car. Having reliable transportation will make a huge difference in my daily life, whether it’s commuting to work, school, or running errands. It will give me more independence and freedom, allowing me to balance my responsibilities more easily. I’ll also use part of the funds to cover any car-related expenses, like insurance and maintenance. This scholarship would be a huge step toward achieving my goal of owning a car and gaining the independence I need as I move forward in life.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
