​Nomination: Blakely Beth Callahan, Miss Kentucky’s Teen 2025, is a truly inspirational and multi-talented young woman. She is a National Honor Society Student Scholar whose excellence is demonstrated by an Award-Winning Governor’s Cup medal and the prestigious Vogue’s Pre-College Scholarship.  Beyond academics, her passions include being the First-Seed on her varsity tennis team and captivating others as a classically-trained soprano. She holds an FAA Student Pilot Certification and serves as an Honorary Commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. In 2025, her commitment to service launched a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for the MS Society and involved hosting the Go Red for Women Luncheon for the American Heart Association. Blakely Beth embodies grace and genuine compassion.

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments were not highlighted in your nomination?
My life has been dedicated to the stage since 2012, fueled by the expressive power of movement and voice. My foundation is built upon years of study in classical ballet, jazz, and hip hop, a discipline that complements my passion for music. Since 2017, the rigorous world of opera and voice has shaped my artistic voice.  Musical theatre is where I truly thrive, transforming into characters like Mal in “The Descendants”, Sandy Cheeks in “SpongeBob: The Musical”, and Fiona in “Shrek”. These experiences culminated in exciting recognition, winning the 2023 Regional Soloist title in Kentucky and taking the Talent preliminary competition at Miss Kentucky's Teen 2025. The stage is where I feel most fully inspired!
 
What would you most like to talk about?
I profoundly believe that creative expression is a meaningful and special outlet, especially for teenagers. This conviction led me to launch my own photography business in the 8th grade, turning my passion into purposeful visual storytelling. My commitment to art has been consistently validated through external recognition, including the incredible honor of winning the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Poster and Essay contest for five consecutive years. My work has also been recognized at the highest level, making me a two-time consecutive Congressional Art Contest winner. These accomplishments underscore my deep belief that embracing creative power allows young people to truly see the world and find their unique voice.
 
 What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
My deepest commitment is serving others, a passion realized through the launch of my Non-profit,Callahan's Crowns for The Cure. This organization raises vital funds and awareness for patients battling Multiple Sclerosis, a cause close to my heart. My dedication extends to working with the American Heart Association, promoting critical health awareness in my community. It’s incredibly rewarding to perform school visits, inspiring younger students through mentorship and the arts. Furthermore, I am deeply honored to express my gratitude to our nation’s heroes through dedicated work with veterans. Each endeavor, whether raising awareness or simply sharing a moment of encouragement, reinforces my belief that service is the highest calling and the most powerful platform.

You have an impressive range of talents—from academics to aviation to the arts. Which of these has shaped your identity the most, and why?
The arts, encompassing singing, dancing, and painting, have profoundly shaped my identity. I deeply appreciate the journey and process of art-making, valuing the authentic emotion and energy invested in creation and performance. This deep work cultivates the self-awareness and self-confidence necessary to perform at high levels, allowing me to tell stories, strike poses, and share my talents. My passion extends to music; I'm actively becoming a more accomplished musician and pianist. I also find immense delight in my visual artwork, which is now being commissioned by various organizations. I feel personally inspired to fly, perform, and express myself, continually striving to bring my big ideas to life.

Your nomination highlights your accomplishments, but what personal quality or behind-the-scenes story do you wish more people knew about you?
My sincere desire to care for animals—from livestock to wildlife—is a core part of who I am. Behind-the-scenes stories often revolve around animal welfare and wellness. Growing up, farm animals were central to my life, resulting in fond memories like feeding our horses and fostering a baby goat during the pandemic. At home, I have cats and dogs. I enjoy beagling with my mom and our hound, Ruby, while our puppy, Coco, leads the pack. Our three rescue cats include Sir Twinkle Van Winkle, a former dumpster kitten adopted from a local shelter. Kindness to creatures, great and small, is a personal calling. I strive to be their advocate, offering love, education, and awareness on their behalf.

You’ve spent over a decade training in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and classical voice. How have the disciplines of dance and opera influenced the person you are offstage?
Training in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and classical voice instills profound offstage attributes, starting with exceptional discipline and work ethic. Daily practice cultivates time management and a meticulous attention to detail, transferring to all areas of life. The constant need to perform builds incredible resilience and an ability to process constructive feedback quickly. Standing on stage fosters confidence and poise, enabling me to handle high-pressure situations with grace. Furthermore, embodying characters enhances emotional intelligence and empathy. The mind-body awareness from dance and vocal training provides focus and centeredness, making me adaptable and adept at creative problem-solving in any endeavor.

Musical theatre seems to be a true passion of yours. What role or performance taught you the biggest life lesson, and what was that lesson?
My performance as Mal in The Descendants delivered my most significant life lesson: the power of choosing your own path. Mal’s journey involves shedding expectations imposed by her villainous mother to define her own morality. This taught me that inherited circumstances or external pressures do not dictate my identity or potential. The transformation required me to explore what it means to be both sharp and kind, guarded yet open. The key takeaway was embracing self-determination. It underscored the importance of listening to my inner voice, courageously defying conventional narratives, and consciously creating the "happily ever after" I truly desire, both on and off stage.

Launching a photography business in the 8th grade is remarkable. How has entrepreneurship at such a young age shaped your creativity, confidence, or direction?
Launching a photography business in 8th grade profoundly shaped my confidence and direction. It immediately transitioned creativity from a hobby into a marketable skill, forcing me to value my artistic output professionally. Entrepreneurship built immense self-confidence. I had to manage all aspects—client communication, billing, marketing, and delivering high-quality visual art—all while maintaining academic rigor. This responsibility taught me discipline and the financial value of my creative vision. This early success instilled a powerful sense of self-reliance and direction, proving that I can successfully materialize big ideas and that my creative passion has tangible, real-world application.

You’ve won major art and writing contests for several consecutive years. What inspires your creative work, and how do you hope your art impacts others?
My creative work is profoundly inspired by the natural world, agriculture, and the beauty of simplicity. I find muses in the quiet dignity of farm animals, the rhythms of the seasons, and the honest, understated elegance of rural life. My art seeks to capture the intimate connection between people, land, and creature, often focusing on moments of unadorned truth. I hope my art impacts others by promoting a deeper appreciation for animal welfare and the roots of our sustenance. If my pieces can remind viewers of the importance of kindness to animals or spark a conversation about sustainable living, I achieve my goal. I strive to create resonant, tranquil work that celebrates life’s essential, simple gifts.

As the founder of Callahan’s Crowns for The Cure, what moment or story has meant the most to you since starting your nonprofit?
As the founder of Callahan’s Crowns for The Cure, the moment that meant the most involved meeting a long-time Multiple Sclerosis patient’s young daughter- during a Crown delivery.While our crowns usually offer joy and laughter, the girl shared how much the shining, elegant gesture restored her sense of dignity amidst her mother’s chronic MS symptoms. She spoke about the daily battle and how our efforts provided a much-needed lift. Her story solidified my commitment: every crown, every dollar raised, brings us closer to supporting critical MS research. Her bravery fuels our mission, reminding me that we are providing hope and resources toward finding a cure, not just sparkly hats.

You’ve led initiatives for both the MS Society and the American Heart Association. What drives your passion for health-centered advocacy?
My passion for health-centered advocacy, particularly with the MS Society and American Heart Association, is driven by a profound belief in the power of proactive support and research. I am inspired by the individuals and families battling chronic illnesses; their resilience compels me to amplify their needs and fight for resources. Witnessing how effective advocacy translates directly into better patient care, education, and research funding is incredibly motivating. Ultimately, I am driven by the desire to build healthier, more informed communities and contribute tangibly to finding cures. Leading these initiatives allows me to transform empathy into action and make a measurable difference in people's health outcomes.

Your service work ranges from mentoring students to honoring veterans. What have these experiences taught you about leadership and compassion?
My diverse service work taught me that leadership is rooted in empowerment and humility. Mentoring students revealed that effective guidance means actively listening and tailoring support to help others realize their potential, not dictate their path. Honoring veterans, such as through placing flags and roses on graves, emphasized the importance of selflessness and integrity. These experiences taught me that compassion is the active ingredient of service: it’s the empathy required to truly understand the sacrifices of veterans and the patience needed to encourage a student. Ultimately, successful leadership is the ability to transform this compassion into concrete, meaningful action that uplifts and empowers the community.

With such a diverse set of interests—tennis, music, aviation, service, entrepreneurship—what future goals excite you the most, and what kind of impact do you hope to make?
My diverse interests point toward a future focused on creative innovation and impactful advocacy. I am most excited by the goal of integrating my entrepreneurial skills and artistic passion, perhaps by launching a larger-scale creative venture that supports health advocacy, leveraging music or visual art to raise awareness for causes like MS.I hope to make an impact by demonstrating that purpose and passion can be powerfully combined. I aim to inspire others—especially young women—to pursue their varied talents without limitation, fostering communities built on compassion, creative excellence, and dedicated service.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
My cherished journey with Keshia Amburgey began in the second grade. I needed headshots for my very first pageant, and Keshia instantly turned a nervous moment into a magical experience. That first meeting sparked a relationship that has endured through the most formative years of my life. For years, she has captured every milestone. We’ve photographed everything from playful shots with my new puppy and intense action during tennis season to stunning editorial and fashion campaigns. More than just a photographer, Keshia is a lifelong friend and mentor who guides me with wisdom and kindness. She is truly like family, her lens always seeing the best in me, both on and off camera.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
Being the girl whose picture is displayed in Miss Keshia’s photography studio and Main Street window is incredibly special. It’s a true delight to be a local model and represent the artistry of our community. This requires professionalism, creativity, and the ability to bring diverse concepts to life. Seeing my images recognized locally is both humbling and exciting; it connects my passion for expression with my hometown. This role has built immense confidence and taught me the value of professional collaboration and creative presentation right here in my own neck of the woods.

What is a favorite memory you have with the person who nominated you?
My precious mother is, and always has been, my absolute rock and biggest fan. Our most treasured memories are etched into the mileage markers of our road trips, which form the backdrop of my life’s journey. She’s been my co-pilot through the energy of NYC, the history of Washington DC, and the dynamic streets of Chicago. From the excitement of the Miss America pageant to the simple joy of any stretch of beach, she is always there. Our peaceful sanctuary, our home away from home, is beautiful Kiawah Island, SC. No matter the destination or the pressure of the moment, her unconditional love and presence make every path worthwhile.

If you could take your mother anywhere in the world to spend time with her, where would it be and why?
If I could take my mother anywhere, it would be to New England for a journey steeped in history and coastal beauty. We would begin by exploring the intellectual charm of Harvard Yard, appreciating the historic architecture and vibrant academic energy. Next, we would enjoy the quintessential summer relaxation of Cape Cod, searching for lighthouses and sampling seafood. A ferry would take us to Martha’s Vineyard, where we could bike past gingerbread houses and soak up the unique island culture. Finally, we would experience the rugged, dramatic coastline of Maine, breathing in the crisp, salty air and cherishing the simple, enduring beauty of the northern coast, making memories together.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be featured in Inspiring Teens because I live to show my peers how amazing it is to chase multiple dreams without limits. My life is fundamentally driven by service—giving back is truly everything to me. I'm also fiercely passionate about the law and social justice, which fuels my desire to advocate for meaningful change and make a real impact. Plus, I pour my energy into creative expression, both on stage and through my artwork, to showcase its importance. Sharing my diverse journey can prove that you don't have to choose just one path. I want every reader to feel totally empowered to be a creative, driven, and compassionate force in the world.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
The Inspiring Teens Scholarship will contribute to the study of political science and law, in order to elevate my service—already started with “Callahan’s Crowns for The Cure”—so much further. I'm not satisfied simply cheering for change; I need to learn the laws so I can make real and lasting differences for vulnerable communities, especially those struggling with chronic illness. My education is about gaining skills to move beyond advocacy towards creating policy. By mastering the legal system, I will ensure my heart and my commitment to kindness create valuable impact as an effective public servant ready to lead.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I am an inspiring teen because I consistently transform my passion into powerful action, refusing to let my age limit my impact. My entrepreneurial spirit shines through launching a successful business in 8th grade, demonstrating rare maturity and ambition. Crucially, my compassion defines my leadership: from founding Callahan's Crowns for The Cure for MS patients to honoring veterans, I lead meaningful service initiatives. Finally, my dedication to excellence in diverse arts (music, dance, painting) inspires peers by proving that discipline and creativity can lead to mastery, showcasing that being deeply engaged in the world is the truest form of inspiration.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me playing tennis-on the court and loving it!

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I have applied to Harvard’s Pre-Law Summer program, and I am excited to go!


What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
Flying an airplane is pretty tough. I set my mind and my heart on it, and I never looked down.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
My greatest bit of advice may sound cliche; but it’s true: BE YOURSELF!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I hope to be studying in law school, competing for the title of Miss Kentucky, and then being crowned Miss America.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
I love to Bible Journal!

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
My hidden talent is baking from scratch. I love to use old-fashioned recipes and make the kitchen feel warm and cozy.

Who do you find inspiring?
An outstanding example of a kind and inspiring person is Roger Federer, an amazing tennis player and philanthropist.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
In short, I inspire others because I aim to be a role model who excels creatively, leads compassionately, and actively shapes my own destiny.
