What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
Beyond what was included in my nomination, I am someone who quietly perseveres through challenges while continuing to show up fully for others. I balance my academic responsibilities with work and leadership commitments, demonstrating discipline and time management. I am especially passionate about pursuing psychology to support children who have experienced trauma, and that purpose drives my dedication. My resilience, empathy, and ability to connect deeply with people are qualities that truly define me and shape both my goals and the impact I hope to make.

What challenges have helped shape the resilience and perseverance you mentioned?
Like many people my age, I have experienced moments of uncertainty, stress, and personal challenges that forced me to grow emotionally and mentally. Navigating school, work, and leadership responsibilities has required discipline and perseverance, especially when balancing everything at once. These experiences have taught me how to stay determined even when things feel overwhelming. Instead of giving up, I’ve learned to push forward, manage my time better, and keep my long-term goals in mind. Those challenges have strengthened my resilience and helped shape the work ethic I carry with me today.

Who has been a mentor or role model in your life that has influenced your compassion and integrity?
My family has been one of my greatest influences. They have always emphasized the importance of empathy, hard work, and treating others with kindness and respect. Watching the way they support others and handle challenges with integrity has shaped the way I approach relationships and leadership. Their encouragement has motivated me to pursue goals that not only benefit my future but also allow me to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

How do you stay organized and focused while balancing academics, work, and leadership commitments?
Balancing multiple responsibilities requires strong organization and discipline. I stay focused by prioritizing my tasks, planning my schedule ahead of time, and setting clear goals for what I need to accomplish each week. I also remind myself of the bigger picture my long-term career goals which motivates me to stay consistent even during busy or stressful periods. Learning to manage my time effectively has been an important skill that helps me stay productive while still maintaining balance.

What current goals and/or projects are you working on now?
I am currently focused on excelling academically while preparing for my future career in psychiatry. I am working toward studying psychology in college, with the long-term goal of becoming a psychiatrist who specializes in helping children affected by trauma. Alongside school, I balance work responsibilities, continue building leadership skills, and seek volunteer opportunities that allow me to support others. I am also prioritizing personal growth by strengthening my discipline, time management, and resilience so I can be fully prepared for the demands of medical school and my future career.

What experiences first sparked your interest in psychology and the mental health field?
My interest in psychology developed from a deep curiosity about how people think, feel, and respond to the challenges they face in life. I have always been drawn to understanding emotions and the impact that experiences—especially difficult ones—can have on someone’s mental health. Learning more about trauma and its long-term effects strengthened my desire to pursue a career where I could help others heal and feel understood. This curiosity eventually grew into a clear goal of becoming a psychiatrist who works with children affected by trauma.

What steps are you taking now to prepare for the long journey toward medical school and becoming a psychiatrist?
As a high school senior, I am focused on building a strong academic foundation while preparing for college. I have applied to study psychology because it is the first step toward my long-term goal of becoming a psychiatrist. Right now, I’m working hard in my classes, balancing work and leadership responsibilities, and continuing to learn more about mental health and human behavior. I’m also developing important skills like discipline, time management, and resilience, which will be essential as I move through college, medical school, and eventually into my career helping children who have experienced trauma.

How do you hope to make children who have experienced trauma feel safe and supported?
I hope to create an environment where children feel heard, understood, and respected. Many children who experience trauma feel isolated or misunderstood, so I want to be someone who provides patience, empathy, and stability. By building trust and creating a safe space for them to express their thoughts and emotions, I hope to help them feel less alone in their experiences. My goal is to help them develop healthy coping strategies, rebuild confidence, and realize that their past does not define their future.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am deeply passionate about mental health, especially when it comes to children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. I could talk forever about how early experiences shape the brain, personality, and future relationships, and how the right support can completely change someone’s life. I’m also passionate about breaking the stigma around therapy and psychiatry, particularly in communities where mental health is often misunderstood. The idea that listening, empathy, and proper treatment can help someone feel seen and safe is something that truly inspires me and motivates my future career path.

Why do you think breaking the stigma around mental health is so important today?
Breaking the stigma around mental health is important because so many people struggle in silence due to fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet many individuals feel ashamed to talk about their experiences. When we normalize conversations about mental health, it encourages people to seek help and support without feeling embarrassed. Creating a more open and understanding environment allows individuals to feel seen, heard, and valued, which can make a powerful difference in their healing and well-being.

What are some ways people can support friends or family members who may be struggling with their mental health?
One of the most important ways to support someone who is struggling is simply by being present and listening without judgment. Sometimes people don’t need someone to solve their problems—they just need to feel heard and understood. Showing patience, empathy, and checking in regularly can make someone feel less alone. Encouraging them to seek professional help when needed and reminding them that their feelings are valid can also be incredibly supportive.

What message would you share with other teens who may be struggling but feel afraid to ask for help?
I would tell them that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of strength. Everyone goes through difficult moments, and no one should feel like they have to face those challenges alone. There are people who care deeply and want to support you, even if it may not always feel that way. Speaking up about how you feel can be the first step toward healing and finding the support you deserve.

What impact do you hope to make in the lives of others through your future work in mental health?
Through my future work in mental health, I hope to make people feel understood, supported, and hopeful. I want to help children who have experienced trauma feel safe enough to express their emotions and begin healing. My goal is to provide guidance, compassion, and professional support that helps them rebuild confidence and develop healthy coping strategies. If I can help even one person realize their experiences do not define their future, then I know I will be making a meaningful impact.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found my photographer through my high school, which made the process feel comfortable and familiar from the start. Being photographed in an environment connected to so many memories made the experience even more meaningful. What I loved most was how supported and confident I felt throughout the session. My photographer was patient, encouraging, and helped capture moments that felt natural rather than posed. The experience wasn’t just about taking pictures—it was about celebrating this milestone and preserving a special time in my life.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of my favorite memories with the person who nominated me is how they have always believed in me, even during moments when I doubted myself. They consistently encourage me to push beyond my comfort zone and remind me of my strengths when I forget them. I truly appreciate the way they listen without judgment and offer guidance with patience and love. Knowing that someone sees my hard work and character enough to nominate me is incredibly meaningful, and it reflects the supportive and inspiring role they play in my life.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I hope my story can encourage other young people to believe in themselves and pursue their goals with confidence. Being featured would allow me to represent resilience, hard work, and passion for mental health advocacy. I especially hope to inspire teens who may feel overlooked or unsure of their path to see that their experiences can shape a powerful future. Sharing my journey would not only be an honor, but also an opportunity to uplift others and show that dedication and heart truly matter.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to help pay for college expenses, including tuition, textbooks, and required materials. As someone planning to study psychology and eventually attend medical school to become a psychiatrist, every financial resource makes a meaningful difference. This scholarship would ease the burden on my family and allow me to focus more fully on my education and career goals. It would be an investment not only in my future, but in the children and families I hope to serve through my work in mental health.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job would be becoming a psychiatrist who works with children who have experienced trauma. I want to help young people feel safe, understood, and supported while they work through difficult experiences. Being able to guide children toward healing and healthier coping strategies would be incredibly meaningful to me. If I could spend my career helping young people regain confidence, stability, and hope for their future, I would consider that a truly fulfilling and rewarding path.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my family for always encouraging me to work hard and pursue my goals. Their support and belief in me have played a major role in shaping my determination and values. I am also grateful for the teachers, mentors, and people in my life who have supported my growth and motivated me to keep striving for my future goals.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
Being recognized by Inspiring Teens Magazine is an incredible honor. I hope my story reminds others that your goals are always worth pursuing, even if the path to reach them takes time and dedication. I believe that every experience we go through can shape us into stronger and more compassionate individuals. My goal is to continue growing, learning, and using my future career to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

3 Things on your bucket list:
1. Travel the world and experience different cultures.
2. Achieve my goal of becoming a psychiatrist.
3. Go on exciting adventures and make unforgettable memories.
