Jaden Carey – Ohio Nomination & Photography by Lobs Photography Issue 59 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Jaden Carey is a true multi-sport athlete, competing in cheer (football and basketball) competition, dance, and track and field. She is a captain on her high school cheer team and 2-time state qualifier in long jump, 1 time in high jump and relay team, an All-State track athlete, and national qualifier in both high jump and long jump, and still has her senior year remaining. But more important than that, Jaden is a leader in the classroom, with her peers, and our youth. Jaden is highly respected be her teachers, staff, and classmates. She volunteers at our local summer safety town program, cheer camp, and track and field camp, and is a member of the national honor society. After high school Jaden hopes to compete at the collegiate level in track and field. As her coach, and photographer, I cannot speak high enough about her character as a person. I, personally, have learned from her and she has made me a better person.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? I am very competitive and driven yet get just as excited about other people's victories and or accomplishments as I do my own. It's an amazing thing to see someone work so hard at something and reach their goals. I love to be helpful, make people laugh, and basically treat others how I want to be treated. I live a pretty calm and modest life. They say a person needs just three things in life to be happy. Someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for. I pretty much strive for each every day. What else would you most like to talk about? I am going 24/7 with some sort of activity in my life. I have done competitive dance since I was five years old. We train all year, on average three to four days a week. Dance carries into my other activities throughout the year. I have been a Cheerleader and Track athlete since I was in 7th grade. Cheer and Dance then overlap into Track and Field season. I am not going to lie, it is really tough at times. You have to add schoolwork as well as volunteer activities into the mix of schedules. How do I juggle it all and make time to be a kid?
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be and why? My parents were told before I was born that I would not likely live past ten years old. They were also told that I would always be very sick and would never be able to do much physically. Needless to say, my parents took their chances. I have very supportive parents who have always encouraged me to reach for the stars in all I do. My parents have taught me that no matter the obstacle anything is possible. I know not everyone has that support. I love to help others and provide the support I grew up with. There is not a goal unreachable. You just have to put in the hard work and, have faith to achieve your dreams. I would like to compete in Track and Field while in college as well as enroll in Pre-Med. I want to do these things that were deemed impossible and do them well. I want to be that doctor that gave my parents hope and gave me a happy and healthy life I love.
