Nomination: Maya Kloss was a senior at Southern Lehigh High School. She brings her energy to her school and community through cheerleading. She had cheered for over 10 years. Maya is co-captain of the Spartans varsity cheerleading. She also cheers competitively with World Cup Zenith. She has been with World Cup for five years. Maya will be attending West Virginia University. You can always catch Maya with a smile on her face, she brightens up a room.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? I have participated in volunteer work with the Sassy Massy Foundation. This foundation brings toys to children with cancer all across the east coast. I’ve participated in the selection of toys as well as community events with them. I understand how hard that fight can be and I want to make it as easy as possible.
What else would you like to talk about? In my interview, I would like to discuss the positive impact of cheerleading. My commitment to the sport in a variety of environments has helped teach me resiliency and has helped me through some difficult times. The level of dedication required to learn my tumbling and stunting has been challenging and rewarding. Sticking with a sport or activity for such a long period of time, has made me more positive and joyful. I would like to share advice on how to overcome obstacles, both physical and mental
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be and why? I could talk forever about the importance of a smile. Oftentimes, people do not realize how much a smile can impact someone’s day. Being greeted by a smile is one of the best feelings and it instantly helps to improve my mood. I feel it is important to share a smile with everyone.
