The Nomination: Martin is a hard-working young man who strives for his goals, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He joined the marching band at Harlan High School as their trumpet section leader for three years and has made the All-Region Band 5A for two years. He has always been a wonderful mentor to underclassmen and upperclassmen while being a member of NHS, NEHS, and SNHS. With countless hours of community service, he is set to start college this fall with a major in Biology and potentially a music degree. Martin finds his intent for doing these things through his desire of becoming his family’s first generation college graduate.

Issue 35 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

The Nomination: Over the past few years I have watched my daughter grow into a very courageous young lady. She has inspired students around her to spread positivity and become involved in random acts of kindness. She is involved with her church as well as getting individuals to join her in that as well. With all the events and incidents happening right now, somehow she was able to find a good thing during it all! Her teachers appreciated it a lot and it made a difference in their lives. Her aim is to reach as many teachers as possible. I cannot believe that she put herself out there like that without a second thought just to make someone else happy!

Nomination & Photography by Tammy Schmitt
Issue 34 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

The Nomination: Diamond Orin is very inspiring because she had been bullied since sixth grade and continues to be, but she chooses to always find the positive out of a bad situation. She uses modeling to cope from all the negative and make it positive by being who she is and not letting anyone change that. She also swims which helps her cope with it and be able to help others in need throughout their troubles. She will continue to grow and inspire many young children, athletes, and even us adults to be ourselves and not let others break us down.

The Nomination: Rachel Liazos is inspirational because of her dedication to her sport, Softball. Rachel was diagnosed with a stress fracture in her back during middle school. She was confined to a back brace 23 hours a day. This injury took Rachel out of the game for several years. Rachel cheered on her team from the bench for hundreds of games, unsure if she could ever join her teammates ever again. Through hundreds of hours in the gym, on the field with coaches, Rachel was able to return to softball and will be playing at the collegiate level next year.
