Riya Gupta: Empowering Teens Through ForFinanceHub & Sustainable Suburbs | Inspiring Teens Magazine

Riya Gupta – Illinois

Nomination & Photography by Papiha Gupta

Nomination: As the founder of ForFinanceHub, Riya Gupta is bridging the resource gap for high school students worldwide. The platform offers free access to scholarships, extracurricular opportunities, and comprehensive financial guides, already reaching 30,000+ users across more than 90 countries. Building the initiative from the ground up allowed Riya to develop a robust skill set in digital marketing—growing a social media community of 14,000 followers—while balancing the intensive time commitments of scaling a global project.

What other inspiring qualities, achievements, or experiences about you, not mentioned in your nomination, would you like readers to know about?

I founded Sustainable Suburbs, a youth-led international initiative dedicated to environmental action. What began as a local project has scaled into a global network of over 15 chapters across 5 countries. The organization operates on a dual model: holding local recycling drives (where community members centralize recyclables at chapter hubs for proper sorting)and hosting engaging youth events designed to inspire the next generation of environmental changemakers. We have held over 10 youth events and collected 900lbs of recycling internationally.

What goals, dreams, or projects are you currently working toward right now?

I am currently working on developing a new grant and scholarship initiative for ForFinanceHub. My vision is to empower other teenagers not just with financial knowledge, but with the funds and the skills needed to build their own impactful projects. To bring this program to life, I am actively researching innovative fundraising opportunities, partnership outreach, and grant-making models to secure the funding necessary to support the next generation of youth leaders

What could talk about for hours, and why does it matter so much to you?

There are so many things I could go on and on about the impact that simple and daily choices have on reducing waste and saving our environment. Sometimes people tend to underestimate the simple actions that we do in our daily lives, whether that be putting something in the bin instead of recycling or using high-energy digital systems like artificial intelligence to perform small tasks. This particular topic means a lot to me because it is the perfect example of a tragedy of the commons, where people think that their small actions do not make any difference.

What is something you have learned about yourself as a leader or influencer in the past year?

The most important thing that I have learned over the years is the fact that there are some things that I cannot do by myself. Knowing that I need to collaborate in order to make an impact, I created a team for ForFinanceHub. Apart from making our process more efficient, delegation helped me to free up time to develop new projects. Through teamwork, I have realized that good leadership does not mean doing all the work on your own.

What is one of your favorite memories with the person who nominated you, or something about them that means a lot to you?

My mother is the most important support system that I have ever had in my life. It is because of her that I hold on to the notion that I can do anything that I put my heart into doing. However, what really touches my heart about her is her silent sacrifice. Despite being very occupied with her own things, whenever I need assistance, she leaves everything behind and comes to support me. The greatest thing in life for me is having someone behind my back believing in me with all their heart.

Tell us about the person who took your photo — how did you connect, and what was that experience like?

The person behind the camera was my mom. Our connection is as natural as it gets, which made the entire experience incredibly comfortable and fun. We have a very close bond, so instead of a rigid photoshoot, it felt like a fun and relaxed afternoon together. Having her behind the lens allowed me to truly be myself, and the photo captures the genuine comfort and happiness I always feel when I am around her.

How did you first hear about Inspiring Teens Magazine? Why does being part of Inspiring Teens Magazine matter to you?

I first discovered Inspiring Teens Magazine on Instagram. I believe it is incredibly important for young people to have a strong support system as they pursue their passions, while also being celebrated for their dedication. The way this magazine provides a dedicated platform to recognize youth achievements is truly awe-inspiring. Being part of this community matters to me because it elevates student voices, validates our hard work, and shows other teenagers that their ideas are powerful enough to make a real impact.

How will earning a scholarship through Inspiring Teens Magazine help you?

This scholarship will be pivotal in helping me grow ForFinanceHub and help other change makers who are young. Currently, my goal is to develop a program whereby grants will be issued to projects developed by students, and this scholarship will be a crucial catalyst in developing this project. Instead of the scholarship being used to support my educational endeavors, it will have an even greater impact when it becomes a means for us to give teens the micro-grants needed to start their ventures.
