Nomination: Tanmay is a passionate student driven by a mission to create meaningful change. Through founding the nonprofit FutureLead, he has helped students develop business and leadership skills through engaging, hands-on experiences while reaching 150K+ Instagram impressions. He has advocated for expanded entrepreneurship education in Georgia by meeting with state representatives and visiting the Georgia State Capitol. Beyond entrepreneurship, Tanmay serves as a Team Lead for Meals By Grace, supporting efforts to address food insecurity while coordinating with 200+ volunteers weekly. Through his work, he continues to empower others and spark positive change.

What other inspiring qualities, achievements, or experiences about you, not mentioned in your nomination, would you like readers to know about?

I am a passionate student leader dedicated to empowering others through entrepreneurship, leadership, and public speaking. I was featured in the June 2026 edition of Innovation Insider Magazine and have grown FutureLead, my nonprofit focused on business and leadership education, to 10+ branches across the United States and India. I lead my school’s Model U.N. and UNICEF clubs and serve as Student Outreach Coordinator for a school board campaign to involve students in policymaking. Through public speaking, I hope to inspire others to believe in themselves and find their voice.

Looking back, what moment made you realize you wanted to dedicate your time to helping other students succeed?

I wouldn’t call it a moment; I would call it a period of time. I have always wished that schools would teach more business and leadership skills and, overall, make the learning process more fun. Over time, that feeling stayed until I decided to address it myself and create FutureLead.

What has been the most rewarding moment you've experienced since founding FutureLead?

The most rewarding moment I have experienced since founding FutureLead is seeing workshops pay off. I remember during our 3rd workshop, for business management, during our activity, I looked around, and every single kid was engaged, smiling, talking, and having fun, all while they were actually learning. That moment was surreal as it truly showed that I was able to help students learn the way I always wished I could.

How has working with students from different communities and countries changed your perspective on leadership?Working with students from different places has helped me as a leader be more aware of the similarities that the youth have. Almost every student who has joined FutureLead wants to do big things in life, regardless of where their background may originate from. So as a leader, it has taught me not to view anyone as less, but to view everyone as aspiring. Aspiring to make a change, make an impact, and overall make a difference in the world.

What goals, dreams, or projects are you currently working toward right now?

I dream of creating lasting change through policy by helping pass legislation that gives future students the resources they need to pursue careers in entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation. I am also working to expand FutureLead’s impact by making business and leadership education accessible to students worldwide. Ultimately, my goal is to help create a future where every student has the opportunity, confidence, and resources to chase their dreams and turn their ideas into reality.

What is one milestone you hope FutureLead reaches in the next five years?

I hope FutureLead can reach students in every country while helping create lasting, systemic change in education. My goal is for every student to have access to business and leadership education, whether through FutureLead or as part of their school curriculum. I believe the best way to achieve this is by working with educators and policymakers to expand access to these essential skills, ensuring every student has the opportunity to develop the confidence and knowledge to pursue their dreams.

If you could solve one challenge facing today's students, what would it be and why?

If I could solve one challenge facing today's students, it would be unequal access to opportunities and resources. So many students have incredible ideas and dreams but lack the tools, support, or experiences needed to pursue them. I believe every student should have the chance to succeed based on their determination and potential, not the circumstances they can't control. Creating more equitable access would empower countless young people to reach their goals and make a meaningful impact on the world.

What could we talk about for hours, and why does it matter so much to you?

I could talk for hours about the importance of youth leadership. Too often, young people are told to wait until they're older to make a difference, but I've learned that age doesn't determine your ability to create change. Through founding FutureLead, leading my school's Model U.N. and UNICEF clubs, and advocating for entrepreneurship education, I've seen firsthand the impact students can have when they're allowed to lead. I'm passionate about helping other young people realize that their ideas, voices, and actions can shape the future, and I'll always advocate for giving students the opportunities and support they need to lead with confidence.

What advice would you give to a student who has a great idea but is afraid to take the first step?

Don't wait until you feel ready, because you probably never will. The first step is always the hardest, but every successful idea started with someone willing to take a chance, learn along the way, and believe in themselves.

Who has influenced your leadership style the most, and what lessons have you learned from them?

During one FutureLead workshop, we brought on a young guest speaker to mentor and speak to the students. While I was the one running the event, I ended up learning just as much. She had built a huge network of people involved in policy, business, and legislation before she had even graduated, and the biggest lesson she shared was how she used her youth as an advantage. I had always felt that being young only held me back. However, her talk made me realize that my age was actually a superpower.

What is something you have learned about yourself as a leader or influencer in the past year?

Over the past year, I have learned that leadership is not about having a title or being the person in charge; rather, it is about empowering others to reach their potential. Through growing FutureLead, leading student organizations, and advocating for change, I have learned the importance of communication, teamwork, and perseverance. I realized that the greatest impact comes from creating opportunities for others and building a community where everyone feels valued. Leadership is not about standing above others, but standing alongside them and helping them achieve things they may not have thought were possible.

What challenge has tested your leadership the most, and how did you grow because of it?

As FutureLead continued to grow, we faced a challenge where fewer students attended each event. This was a huge problem because part of what made our workshops so fun was having many different students participate. As attendance dropped, the events became less engaging, which led to even fewer students coming to the next workshop, creating a cycle. This challenge, however, helped me grow because it taught me the importance of truly listening to others' input. By taking feedback seriously, we were able to break the cycle and create even better events.

When you think about the legacy you want to leave, what do you hope people remember most about you?

I want to leave a legacy of impact. I want people to remember me as someone who made a true difference in the world around them. This can range from creating change to help everyone have a better experience on this earth, to getting legislation passed that makes the lives of others much easier.

What does success mean to you beyond awards, recognition, or accomplishments?

To me, success is creating opportunities that continue to impact others long after I'm gone. Awards and recognition are meaningful, but knowing I helped someone discover their potential, pursue their dreams, or make a difference in their own community is what I consider true success.

What is one of your favorite memories with the person who nominated you, or something about them that means a lot to you?

One of my favorite ongoing memories with my dad is that we share the same birthday, February 5. Celebrating each new year of life together has created countless special memories and made every birthday feel even more meaningful. It's a tradition that reminds me how fortunate I am to share such a unique bond with him, and it's something I'll always cherish.

Tell us about the person who took your photo — how did you connect, and what was that experience like?

Ankita is a student leader who, like me, dreamed of creating change and becoming an advocate for her community. I connected with her when I had the opportunity to visit the Georgia State Capitol through her organization, Students4Civics. From the moment I met her, I was inspired by her dedication, work ethic, and ability to maintain such a positive personality while pursuing meaningful change. Meeting Ankita showed me the impact young people can have when they use their voices to engage with leaders and advocate for a better future.

How did you first hear about Inspiring Teens Magazine? Why does being part of Inspiring Teens Magazine matter to you?

I heard about Inspiring Teens Magazine through social media. Being part of Inspiring Teens Magazine matters to me because it represents the power of young people to create meaningful change. I hope my story can encourage other students to believe in themselves, take initiative, and pursue their own ideas, regardless of their age. This opportunity allows me to share my journey with a larger audience and highlight the importance of leadership, service, and using your voice to make an impact. More than recognition, it is a chance to inspire others to realize they have the ability to create change in their own communities.

How will earning a scholarship through Inspiring Teens Magazine help you?

Earning a scholarship through Inspiring Teens Magazine would help me continue pursuing my goals of creating opportunities for students through entrepreneurship, leadership, and civic engagement. It would support my educational journey while allowing me to invest more time and resources into growing FutureLead and expanding access to business and leadership education. Beyond the financial support, this scholarship would serve as encouragement that young people can make a meaningful impact and would inspire me to continue using my voice to create positive change in my community and beyond. This money will also be used to help pay for my tuition once I get into college, which is one of my biggest goals.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?

I would love to become the CEO of a company or an advocate for change. I want to make a true difference and be a leader, and both would be amazing areas where I can do that.

What made you say “yes” to the Inspiring Teens contest, and how did you feel when you first started?

I said yes because I saw it as an opportunity to share my mission of making business and leadership education more accessible. At first, I was excited but also nervous to put myself and my story out there.

What is one moment during the contest so far that has made you feel proud or realize you were growing - in confidence, mindset, or taking action?

The biggest moment for me was realizing that my story could inspire others, not just represent my own journey. That shifted my mindset from focusing on myself to focusing on the impact I could have.

Now that you have your interview, which leaderboard level are you most looking forward to and why?

Icon Distinction. I want to go as far as possible in this competition!

If another teen is thinking about joining the Inspiring Teens Magazine Contest but feels unsure, what would you tell them?

There are only positives from joining this contest. This was an awesome experience, and I have zero regrets doing this.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you get where you are today?

My parents; they have been my biggest supporters, and I would never be where I am today if it wasn’t for the guidance and support they have given me.
