Issue 27 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Ginger Burlew has been part of my Teen Influencer Team for the past 3 years. She was recommended to me by one of my Team girls at the time for a Back to School shoot I wanted to do because she had an interest in Modeling and I just fell in love with her! Her smile is infectious, and her upbeat personality just makes you feel happy! She has been a Varsity Cheerleader and participated in National Competitions. She coached kids with disabilities in a program called Sparkle during this time. She was a leader in her Connect Club at her High School which is involved with making kids with disabilities get more connected in the school. During her time on the Lisa Shifflett Photography Team she decided she wanted to pursue her Modeling dream and she set about finding out information on how to get signed to an agency. She did all the research and submissions on her own and landed a contract with a modeling Agency at 15! She is a generous and giving teenager and I hope you will consider her as an Inspiring Teen!
How 15-Year-Old Ginger Burlew Researched and Landed a Professional Modeling Agency Contract
Why did you want to start modeling?
I have been wanting to start modeling since I was little, but never really got into it until I started working with Lisa Shifflett. Lisa stuck by my side and helped me in every way possible to exceed my goal, which was to sign to an agency. After I started working with her, I fell in love with the unique way you can express yourself and I realized that this was really something I wanted to do. I wouldn't want to change any of this for the world!
How did you get started with cheerleading?
It feels like I have been cheering since I was able to walk. I was put into cheerleading and everything related to it since I was 6. My mom was the reason for this, and she supported me with it since the beginning. Cheerleading for all my life has taught me what it is like to be a part of a team and have others depend on you.
Have you been to Nationals in Orlando for cheer? If so, tell us about your experience!
I have been fortunate enough to go to Nationals for cheer every year from sixth grade to my sophomore year of high school. Although we never had the outcome we were hoping for, just being a part of the team was a reward. We were all so close and I loved every moment that we spent together. I am so grateful that I now have friendships that will last a lifetime.
What is it like being involved with Sparkle?
Sparkle was an unforgettable experience that I am so thankful I got to be a part of. I got to work with these amazing girls who are just like you and me. They had dreams to cheer and being able to help them make it a reality was so fun and rewarding. Being involved with Sparkle has showed me how doing such a small thing can make a difference in someone's life.
What does it feel like to give back to your community and help people out?
It is such an amazing feeling to give back to the community and seeing what a difference it makes in the lives of others. Even the small things like making someone smile can make their day a little bit better, and that is so rewarding. From all of the amazing experiences that I have had, I learned to appreciate the little things and to just enjoy what life brings.
