Nomination: Caisey is the kindest person I know. She comes to school everyday with a smile on her face always making my day. Caisey is transgender and she doesn’t let that stop her from doing anything. She advocates for herself and her classmates and has never failed to make anyone feel less than perfect. Caisey has always helped others to see past what makes them different and find what makes them alike. She is truly inspiring.

Images by mother and sister
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I have been an activist for children and parents who have children that feel that they may be transgender. This includes participating in panels for people to attend to learn more along with reaching out to local LGBTQ+ organizations to provide resources at my school for other students. I also have done multiple environmental justice studies and work in my community.

How did you get started in participating in panels and what did you do to prepare?
I started doing panels at my church. The first panel I did was for the western Pennsylvania Unitarian Universalist group meeting. this meeting was held at my church called Sunnyhill. I was very nervous about participating in my first panel, but I overcame that fear by having my mom prepare mock questions to ask me so that I was ready for any and all questions I was asked.

What did you learn about yourself in the process?
In the process of doing my first panel, I realized that it was hard for me talking about being transgender. For a long time I didn’t tell anyone that I was trans and I kept it a secret. at the panel, I got emotional talking about what it was like growing up because it was scary. Doing this first panel prepared me for other panels I would do and it prepared me to become public about my transition.

What do you wish people knew about transgender teens?
I wish people knew that we are normal people just like anyone else. Another thing I would like people to know is that it’s OK to ask questions there aren’t many transgender people who are young, Asking questions is a normal thing for people to do. However, sometimes people are scared to ask questions because they don’t know if it’s appropriate or not. if someone is scared to ask a question, I tell them, “Would you ask your mom this at a family dinner?” if the answer is no, the question is probably not appropriate.

Tell us about the environmental justice studies you have done and how you participate.
My youth group at my church has been studying environmental justice for the past year. Some of the things we do to study is, having professionals who work with environmental justice studies come and talk to us in a panel. Another thing we do is take field trips to environmentally friendly and environmentally adapted places around Western PA.

What has been the most interesting one and why?
The most interesting thing I have done is study the effects of fracking on water. My youth group took a trip to a water center in upper Saint Clair, Pennsylvania, and there we saw the effects of fracking on water and the environment along with filtered water and the environment.
The center was split into two so first we looked at the filtered section then we went to the polluted section. I enjoy this because it was an outdoor experience where I got to see many rare things that many people would normally see. One thing I saw was a beaver building a dam because its family was being affected by the polluted water, so it stopped the flow of the water.

What else would you like to talk about?
I would like to talk about what it’s like growing up as a transgender teen, along with what challenges I faced coming out so early. I came out at the age of 7. It had taken me a while to understand the feeling I was having. I want to grow others understanding of what children like that may feel.

Tell us about this experience.
Growing up transgender was very scary. I remember the day I came out to my parents and was so nervous that they wouldn’t accept me for who I was. However, I was very lucky for them to support me fully. I came out in the summer of 2017. when I came out, I didn’t transition right away. I started slowly by growing up my hair and dressing in more feminine clothing. By October 2017 my mom bought me a purple wig from costume shop and I wore to school. I felt so pretty and feminine having long hair. I remember this experience and I love my parents for supporting me.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I feel very passionate about musical theater. Ever since I was little I have been participating in musical theater. It helped me express who I was on stage without any judgement whatsoever. When I’m playing a character I feel like I can escape all my troubles and become the character I am playing.

What has been your favorite production you've participated in and why?
My favorite production I have done was the show “And the World Goes Round” at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. my role in the show was a swing. A swing is someone who is ready to step in for anybody who is out or sick. I learned the parts of everybody in the show, And I was able to perform them just as well as if I were in the show. On the day promotional pictures are being taken. I got to fill-in for one of the leading rules. It was a very exciting moment for me in my musical theater career, because I was able to showcase my abilities, improve to my director that I knew what I was doing.

What parts have you played and how have they suited you?
One part I played that I think did me very well was Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka Junior. I relate to Violet a lot because I love chewing gum, and I love being sassy. I was able to really connect with the role and perform it to my best ability because I loved Willy Wonka growing up and Violet had always been my favorite character.

What is the most challenging thing about being in musical theater vs most rewarding?
The most challenging part about musical theater for me is auditioning for shows. When I audition for a show I’m so nervous and I get full of anxiety and fear. for me, the most rewarding part is finding out you got cast in a show. it’s very scary auditioning and when you put your heart and soul into your audition and you don’t get in, it’s really hurtful. However, when you audition and you do your best and you get into a show, it’s the most rewarding feeling in the world because it feels like all the work that you put in was paid off.

If you could play any character on Broadway, who would it be/what play and why?
If I could play any role on Broadway, I would want to play little red riding hood in Into the Woods. Into the woods has always been my favorite show and I’ve always wanted to play little red. Her song and into the Woods is very exciting and very vocally challenging. If I was to play this role, I would be forever grateful.

How did you find your photographer, April Ohl Photography? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
I found out about my photographer through my friends at school. She has an ambassador team who help her with promotions for her brand. I had a few friends on the team and their pictures always turned out amazing. I then followed her on instagram and interacted with her account for a while. One day she posted a giveaway for a free shoot so I entered, and to my surprise I won! April was an amazing person and she was so professional, while also being able to maintain a fun and supportive environment.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
if I had nothing to do all day, you would probably find me in my room. I like being surrounded by the people I love, but sometimes it’s good to have a break. When I have nothing to do, I like to sit in my room and go through my audition songs. another thing I like to do is stretch. Stretching is a big part of Dance because if you aren’t flexible it can be hard to do some moves.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
The next project that I will be participating in is the ballet Don Quixote. I will be dancing the rules of Cupid and Townsgirl. I am very excited to do the show because I’ve never been in a ballet before. I started taking ballet last year in January and I’ve worked very hard to improve my skill and now I’m going to be in my first ever ballet.
I don’t think I have been more excited to produce a show than I have for this one.

Madison McMahon - Maine
Nomination & Photography by @StewartSmithPhotography
Issue 79 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Madison is very passionate about sports and is a committed volunteer with youth sports in her community. She enjoys helping the younger children improve on their skills and is always encouraging the kids to try new things. She teaches practice makes perfect and It's ok to have an off day. Madison has a strong sense of self care and self respect. Due to social media she struggled with not loving the way she looked. However, now she loves herself and is focusing on being healthy inside and out. She provides positive feedback to friends in hopes that it keeps them uplifted.
What else would you like to talk about?
I’ve been doing sports since I was a kid and I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I have made so many valuable friendships. I started basketball at age three and learned how to do burpees which were my favorite. Then I started soccer on an all boy team at nine. I was the star of the team and played all positions. I used to play softball but i wasn’t feeling as passionate about it like my other sports so I switched to lacrosse and I am absolutely loving it. I can’t wait for the rest of the season.

Of the sports that you play, and which is your favorite? Why?
I’d say basketball is my favorite sport overall because I have been playing it since I was so young and I play all year round and I still love it so much.

What is a favorite accomplishment with one of basketball?
Winning my favorite tournament in Bangor and getting the mvp of the championship game. I got a plaque and the board with all the teams we played against.

What is a favorite memory with your soccer team?
Winning the championship for my school team. The game was tied so we went into sudden death and whoever scored first won the game. We scored in the last 20 or 10 seconds of the game and won. We had worked had all season long and deserved that win.

What has lacrosse taught you that is different from lessons the other sports have given you?
I’m lacrosse it’s better to cradle the ball for a while then make a bad pass and get a turnover and in other sports most of the time that’s called being a ball hog which isn’t good but in lacrosse it’s ok because we want to make good passes.

What are you working on now with one of your sports?
I am working on cradling in lacrosse so I can be a stronger asset to the team and be able to keep the ball safe without losing it.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I have been setting small step by step goals for myself so that I can become a productive, healthy, and clean person. I do a lot of skincare and love doing my weekly face masks, hair masks, and everything showers. I’ve started journaling once a day and limiting junk food by replacing it with healthy food. I stretch my body when I wake up because I am very active during the day and I don’t want to pull any muscles. Staying healthy Is one of my top priorities because staying healthy helps me to feel healthy and look healthy.

What do you wish others knew about skin care?
It’s not all about what other people are using and what’s popular it’s about what works for your skin and maybe it is one of those popular brands but don’t force it if it’s making your skin worse.

What is the most important thing you do for your skin?
You have to understand your skin and kind of pay attention or study it to see what works best for you. Don’t do face masks all the time and don’t freak out when your skin flares up. Do some research and if your not doing anything different than usual but your face is still flared it could be a rash or it could just be hormones just let it be.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
For as long as I could remember I have wanted to be a model. When I was younger when my mother and I we were out shopping and going to the park people would walk up to me all the time and tell me I was gorgeous and that I should be a model. I did a little bit of modeling when I was young but now it is a high priority that I strive for. I have been working hard everyday and really hope the day will come when I can really shine.

What is the best thing about modeling vs the most challenging?
The best thing about modeling is the end photos and getting to travel and having fun being you. The most challenging part is finding your way and wanting to excel your journey but it depends on what others thing of you.

What did you find surprising when you first started modeling?
How much writing there is which I’m not to mad about because I honestly do like writing especially when it’s about something I like talking about.

What is up next for you in your modeling career?
I want to get signed to a agency so that I can start getting selected for shoots and learn more so I can progress.

How did you find your photographer, @StewartSmithPhotography? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
Stewart was recommended by my mother’s friend. Stewart was organized, productive and helped me perfect my poses. He has always been helpful, kind, and fun since we first met and each photo shoot after. Stewart is always thinking of me and how he can help me get back into the industry. I found it easy to understand what he was teaching me and take it into perspective. He brought me to all the perfect places to take great headshots and full body shots. I would recommend him to others in a heartbeat and look forward to our next adventure.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
If it it was summer than at my friends house cause she has a pool and we would tan, talk, and swim. If it was a little colder than you could find me reading ahead on homework or hanging out with my pets.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I have some upcoming tournaments against some good competition in different states so I’m really excited and cant wait to challenge myself.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Just keep pushing yourself and don’t give up on it just because it takes time. Good things take time in life to become great.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself as 19 and either thriving in the modeling world or in college for one of my sports.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?

The start of every school year is the absolute best, with all those new outfits and accessories to mix and match. Those memories are just so special to me, and I could talk about them forever! It's like a never-ending fashion adventure, and I'm here for it!

How did you find your photographer, Stephanie Rasile PixieMug? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
My aunt has been my personal photographer capturing all my precious moments since I was born. It's amazing how photography has been a hobby for her since she was young. I feel so blessed to have been in front of the camera from day one. I guess you could say I have a natural knack for it! And the best part is that we've been learning new techniques together along the way. It's like a journey of discovery and creativity.

Riley Edwards

Picture

Riley Edwards – North Carolina
Nomination by Kristin Edwards
Photography by Laney Brooke Photography
Issue 79 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Riley can often be found smiling, joking, and making others feel comfortable. Her inspiration lies under the service with only a select few knowing how she has transformed. Riley has a learning disability but has not let it stop her from graduating Cum Laude. She spent years cheering which contributed to an eating disorder but managed recovery. This mixed with anxiety could have knocked her down; it did not! She worked hard in therapy to learn coping strategies when life becomes challenging. Her exuberant personality and empathy for others will allow her to shine her light moving on to college.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
When thinking of my nomination, my nomination does not discuss my involvement in my church community, participation in missions, or delve into my challenges specifically. I have spent time with the youth of my community as well as with those in other states letting them know they are loved by God no matter their circumstances. I have seen God present in my own life as I faced challenges with my mental health and learning struggles. Challenges don’t need to define us but rather lead us to God and ways to improve ourselves.

What else would you like to talk about?
I would like to be able to address religion and how it has played a role in my life, future aspirations, how my learning disability shaped me as well as mental health challenges and overcoming them.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about how we treat others that have different views and those with mental health issues. I like to consider the perspective of others and take time to consider the value of their circumstances and how we can learn from it and in some cases rise above it. I am passionate about the rights and treatment of all humans even if we disagree. We have to all learn to be loving, kind, and respectful.

How did you find your photographer, Laney Brooke Photography? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
The photographer was communicative and worked with me to address questions and needs. She was reasonably priced.

Nomination: Starlet Polson (Star) is inspiring because she has overcame so many obstacles in the last 3 years, she went through her parents divorce, moving and a new school. She's beautiful inside and out and is an amazing young lady.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Things I consider inspiring about myself is how I never put others down, I've been bullied most of my childhood for my weight, I've been made to think I was never good enough that I couldn't be pretty because of my weight so I know how it feels and I'd never want another person to feel that way, I always try to lift others up and make them feel beautiful!

What else would you like to talk about?
Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't do something just because of your appearance, everyone is beautiful in there own way and bullies are just jealous and want to bring you down but don't ever let anyone dull your shine!

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
My mom, she has been through so much the past few years but she still manages to put me first and take care of me, I wish she could see just how amazing she is through my eyes she is my inspiration to be a better person.

Rene Rodriguez IV

5/6/2024

Picture

Rene Rodriguez IV – Georgia
Nomination by Chari Pitts
Photography by @visualpoetrystudio
Issue 79 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Rene inspires us to stand up for your passions. He attends a school of the arts, that doesn't have group sports, but desperately wanted to play baseball on a school team versus just on travel teams. District policy allows home schooled or students at schools without sports, to play at their zoned school. However, the school administration denied him, in order to remain art focused. Rene and his parents fought the school board making the district adhere to their written policies, eventually winning. Now he's playing his senior year and opened doors for athletes to play AND study the arts.

Photography by @visualpoetrystudio
Why did you want to play baseball for a school instead of just travel teams?
I wanted to experience the camaraderie and school spirit on a high school level. I also wanted to help pave the way for other art students to be able to attend an a school specializing in arts and play sports.

What do you love most about baseball?
Everything! But if I had to narrow it down, its the 5 minutes before game time when I look out at the field and my teammates, the excitement I see on their faces, the anticipation of how our game will go and the support we give each other.

What position do you play, and how does it suit you?
As a lefty, you are limited to positions on the field so I ended up at first base. It suits me because I like to be involved in every play and it's my job when the ball is hit infield to assist in getting an out.

What is your most rewarding experience with the sport?
The feeling when you get the pitch you have been looking for all day and you crush it. No matter what happens with the ball you feel good about the contact you just made.

What is your team like, and what is a favorite memory with them?
Our team is very playful and all the guys have a good sense of humor, so they are always cracking jokes. My favorite memory was getting the last out in the final inning to secure us a spot in the playoffs.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I do feel that being a part of the change of policy in my school district did help pave the way for future student athletes that also have a passion for the arts. Along with my parents, I was a part of an impactful change to my community. I believe that students can have multiple passions and the more support we receive from our parents, schools and community, the more successful we can be. Being an inspiration to others is truly an honor and means so very much to me.

What else would you like to talk about?
My love for music came in middle school when I decided to play guitar. I had this constant desire to learn more and was always playing at home, trying to get better. By the end of 8th grade, I knew it would be a dream come true to be accepted to our arts school. The day I found out is a day I will never forget. It has been a privilege to be part of an incredible program. My confidence has grown, my love and appreciation for music has grown and playing guitar will always be a part of me.

What type of music do you enjoy playing the most?
I enjoy playing classical music because it is rewarding to play a piece of history. My go to song is Danza Del Altiplano by Leo Brouwer

What has music taught you?
Music has taught me patience as it takes time and motivation to learn a piece by memory.

What experiences have you had going to this school that you might not otherwise have?
The school is very tight knit, everyone knows each other and it's feels like our own little community. People are very accepted and not alot of judgment so everyone feels more comfortable and confident.

What are you working on now?
Wrapping up high school high and attending Georgia Southern in the fall to pursue a Bachelors in Business Management, I plan on also working on my real estate license this summer.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Baseball, is my other love! I played T-ball as a little boy but lost interest for a little while I played other sports. Once in high school as a guitar major, I realized how much love I had for baseball too. Watching the Atlanta Braves, I knew I wanted to be out on a field. I started playing rec league and travel ball, I felt so alive on the field. After the policy change, I played my first year of high school ball my senior year and it has been an incredible experience.

How did you find your photographer, @visualpoetrystudio? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
My stepdad and mom knew him, he was their wedding photographer and great friend. My experience was wonderful, he too has a love for baseball, so he was so happy to be involved. I loved being captured in my element, on the field and in the dugout is truly my happy place. Henry, my photographer, has the best sense of humor and makes taking photos so easy. He kept me laughing and having fun the entire time. Once I saw the photos, I was blown away at how well he captured my personality and passion.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
Its a toss up, either the batting cages working on my swing or in my bean bag at home playing video games or watching a Braves game.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
COLLEGE!!! I will be attending Georgia Southern in the fall and can't wait to start this next chapter of my journey!

Who do you find inspiring?
My inspiration is my mom. She is the kindest and most hardworking person in the world.

Emma Basler

Emma Basler – Colorado
Nomination & Photography by Everyday Moments Photography
Issue 79 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Emma is an inspiration when you watch her fly. Literally. This girl is about to get her pilot’s license which takes endless hours of training and she’s a competitive swimmer! If she’s not flying in the air, she’s flying through the water! On top of those two time-consuming activities Emma is a top student and a member of the National Honor Society and works as a lifeguard at the pool where she trains. She’s aiming to be a pilot like her dad and major in chemistry in college! Emma inspires as she aims high in all her goals!
Photography by Everyday Moments Photography
Tell us about your aviation career.
I first became interested in aviation when I flew in my grandpa’s plane with him and my dad as a little kid. My dad is a commercial airline pilot and my grandpa has his private pilot’s license. I had my first discovery flight at age 14 right before Christmas. I didn’t start ground school until September of 2023 because to be able to fly on the side you have to be of a certain age. I have completed ground school, and I’m hours away from my first solo flight.

Do you own your own plane or do you rent/borrow one? Tell us about it.
Someday I would like to own my own plane, but for now I rent from the school where I train. Renting planes can be fun because I get to fly different types of planes and gain more experience.

If you could take off and fly to anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
If I could fly anywhere in the world it would be anywhere that’s coastal so that I could spend more time at the beach.

Who would you take with you and what would you do there?
I would take my mom because the beach is her favorite place to be.

What do you think non pilots would find interesting about pilots, piloting an aircraft?
I think they would be interested to know about all the training and planning it takes to get and maintain your pilot’s license. It takes a lot of time and dedication to build up enough knowledge and flight hours to advance as a pilot.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I am apart of two aviation clubs for women. The Pikes Peak Chapter of the 99's and the Colorado Springs Chapter of Women in Aviation International. I also have a goal of becoming a Certified Flight Instructor to help others learn to fly. I think it's important to be a role model for young girls who are interested in science and aviation programs.

Tell us about your adventures in swimming.
I have been a competitive swimmer for over 10 years. Swimming is a great sport with lots of ups and downs. It is both physically and mentally challenging, teaching me how to be focused, set goals, manage disappointment, and celebrate wins. My best moments in swimming are when I exceed my personal goals. But above all else, my best memories are the friendships I’ve made with my teammates.

What is a regular routine like for you when in training?
I train approximately 12-15 hours in the water, with an additional 4-5 hours of strength training per week. In a typical swim practice, I swim about 5,000 to 7,000 yards.

What are you working on now with your swimming?
As a swimmer, I maintain weekly and seasonally training goals. I am focused on achieving personal best times and swimming at championship level meets.

What is something you've accomplished in swimming that you are proud of?
In addition to club swimming, I also swim for my high school team, the Pine Creek Eagles in Colorado Springs. This year, our team won the division 4 state championship in Colorado. I am very proud to have been part of this amazing team.

What else would you like to talk about?
When I'm not flying around in the air or swimming in the pool I like to go camping and hang out on the beach with my family. I also enjoy spending time with friends as much as possible.

What has been a favorite memory camping with your family?
I love sitting around the campfire with my grandparents, eating smores, and telling scary stories. I also have fond memories of building forts with my sisters and floating down the river.

What is a beach tradition you hope never ends?
The thing I like to do most at the beach is to jump in the waves and go boogie boarding with my sisters.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about giving back to my community through volunteering and helping others. I frequently have the opportunity to volunteer at swim meets for my club team and high school events. I became a lifeguard to use my skills as a swimmer to encourage and educate others on water safety. I have a passion for swimming and being near water and I want everyone to enjoy it as much as I do in the safest way possible.

How did you find your photographer, Everyday Moments Photography? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
Chris Bains is the mother of one of my swim club teammates and the mother of one of my coaches! Chris is not only an amazing swim mom but she was very fun to work with as a photographer. I loved how encouraging and enthusiastic she was during the photo shoot. She is very creative and made the whole experience easy and fun.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
I think I’d be hard to find because I’d be up in the air flying around, enjoying the views!

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I am looking forward to applying to colleges, continuing my flying career, and one day becoming a pilot like my dad.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Stay focused and committed to your goals and don’t get discouraged when things get hard or don’t go the way you want them to.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself graduating college and beginning a career with a major airline.

3 Things on your bucket list
3 things on my bucket list are skydiving, visiting Switzerland, and owning my own plane.

Brylee Barbour – Texas
Nomination & Photography by Hayly Hext Photography
Issue 79 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Brylee Barbour is one of those people that you are immediately drawn to. She is full of joy and you can't help but smile while being around her. Brylee lives her life with passion, positivity and determination. Her drive has led her to achieve many recognitions in the academic areas as well as athletic honors. She has a compassionate heart for others and a kind heart. I have loved working with Brylee this year!
Photography by Hayly Hext Photography

Tell us about the academic recognitions & honors you are most proud of.
I was chosen as Pirate of the Month both my Sophomore year and Senior year. I was inducted into NHS my sophomore year. This is an honor I am proud of because school doesn’t come easy for me. I have always had to try hard to keep my grades higher, but set that as a goal for myself in high school.

What has been your favorite class so far this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
My favorite class is Dual Credit Business Math. I enjoy the way it challenges me to push to earn college credits early. I also have the best Math teacher, Mr. Tunstall. He makes learning fun and easy, even when we are doing difficult problems.

What will you miss most about your high school?
I will definitely miss my friends and the people that are like a family. I have been at the same school district since Pre-K. And so many of these people I have grown up with for my whole life. It’s sad to think that I may not see some of them after graduation.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind?
I want people to remember me as a positive light, that I was friendly and fun to be around. I was chosen as “Most Spirited” in my senior class. I hope people remember that I was always smiling and happy. I want people to know that there will always be a reason to keep going and you can make any day into a great day! Spread joy!

What is coming up next for you your senior year that you are most excited for?
Graduation is next. I am really excited for the next step after high school. I am going to miss it because I have had the best 4 years here. But I am also ready for what lies ahead! I am excited to learn new things and meet new people and just take the big leap into growing up!

How did you find your senior photographer, Hayly Hext Photography? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it?
Hayly was the photography teacher at my school and took my brother's senior photos and our family pictures. We had an instant connection with her. I knew I wanted her to do my senior sessions. She made everything so easy. We met last summer and laid out plans for all of the seasons. My first session was AMAZING and I knew I would have the best pictures for Senior year. She has been a dream to work with and has made all of my visions come to life. She is now part of our family and we adore her!

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I love life! I am fun and outgoing, energetic and positive, and generally happy all of the time. Life is worth so much more than worrying, so I try to live every day to the fullest. I give everything I do in life all of me. I try to always be a light in other people's day when they come in contact with me. I want people to think of a smile when they think of me!

What else would you like to talk about?
I have given most of my extra energy and time to competitive and school cheerleading. This is a HUGE part of who I am and my personality. I love the feeling that I get on the sidelines at a game when you are cheering for your team and with the fans, but the feeling of competing on the mat with my team is next level. Competitive cheerleading is one of the most challenging, but rewarding, pieces of my life. I have friends that have become family on each team that I have been a part of over the years.

Tell us about your cheer career. When did you get started and where are you at with it now?
I started competitive cheer at 6 years old. Cheer has taught me so many things in life like how to work hard, be a good teammate, learn to be coached, how to lose and that it’s okay because there is a bigger lesson behind everything. I cheered through all of middle and high school, also. I have had amazing coaches through both sides of cheering and really look up to them. They’re some of my favorite people now! This sport has helped me push through the hard times and celebrate the great times! Cheer will always be a part of my identity from the things it has taught me!

What is a favorite memory with your cheer team?
Traveling and staying together as a team for certain competitions are the best times. With High School, it’s the UIL and NCA competitions. For competition cheer, staying together at Disney for Summit will always going to be some of my favorite memories. I love the times our team stays together and is able to laugh and bond!

What is a favorite accomplishment with cheer?
My team, Lady Valor, won CheerSport Nationals in Atlanta. This is a HUGE win in the cheer world. It was such an amazing experience. For high school cheer, it was being named for the Varsity MVP and Outstanding Leadership awards. That is noted for by teammates and I am proud that they see me for those things and nominated me for those titles.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about working hard in any aspect of life. I believe that it is important to always show up and follow through with commitments. When people think about me, I want them to know that I will always be someone that they can count on in life when they need a friend or help. I try to always give 100% to everything in my life. Being responsible and reliable is very important to me. I believe these qualities will help me go far in school, a career, and in life.

Tell us about your family. Where do you fit in and where do you stand out?
I am the baby of the family. I have an older brother, Cooper. He is 20. My family is very close. We have always been. I love that we do so much together and have made great memories through my life. My mom and dad are always there for us and have really just always supported us in anything we want to do.

What is a favorite family memory you will never forget?
There are so many! Probably all of the travel we have done together. I love when we take family trips and vacations. We have so much fun and get to see so many different things.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
Probably shopping or laying in the pool. I love both of those things!

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I am starting Cosmetology school in June and going to Texas Tech University in the fall. I cannot wait to see what is in store for my future with both of these paths!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Stay consistent and don’t give up. There will be hard days where you want to quit or just throw in the towel. Find your passion and let it be your drive in everything you do. Don’t let yourself have regret and do anything you want to! Try new things, even when they’re scary!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I want to own my own salon and be one of the best in my field. I want to travel and see things in the world. Life is all about experiences and I plan to have great ones!

3 Things on your bucket list.
I want to go to Australia to see the amazing wildlife.
I want to sky dive!
Go to the CMA’s, I love country music!

Who do you find inspiring?
My mom inspires me. She was a young mom who never let any struggles show when we were growing up. She always made sure we had everything we needed. She has always been there for me when I need guidance and words of affirmation. She is my biggest fan and has always let us know we are her world. My mom is one of my best friends and I’m so thankful for our close relationship. My parents are both super hard workers that have always given us great experiences and lives! They have shown me the importance of work hard, play hard. Someday, I want to be this parent for my children.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
Even when times are hard, I always find a way to be positive and make the best out of a situation. I try to see the good in everything. There’s always a lesson to be learned and you can come out better than before.
