Breaking into the Business

How to Break into the Business - By Brynn Casey
for the 2017 Winter Issue of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Take some photos
Whether you want to be an actor/actress or model, taking some simple photos with your phone or camera is the first step!

 Find an agency
I would not have had all the opportunities without my agency. To do this, submit your photos to acting and modeling agencies and hope for a call or email. Once you are with an agency, they will proceed to send you on auditions. Be aware of what agency you submit photos to- there are scams out there! Steer clear of paying just to be with an agency. Legit agencies do not ask for money just to be represented by them. However, paying for headshots and giving you agency a portion of the money you make from jobs is acceptable.

Tips from a pro:
This process may take a while, but if you really want to pursue this path, it is worth it so stay with it. Do not get discouraged!
You have to stay committed. This is a very competitive business that many people desire to be in. Make sure you are outgoing and stand out!
You have to have a flexible schedule. Last minute is a good way to describe this business. Missing school and traveling are common once you break into this career.
Have fun! There are so many amazing people and opportunities that can come with this journey.

Bucks County Haunted Tunnel

Larissa Chelius visits the Bucks County Haunted Tunnel to write her article and do her photo shoot for the Winter Issue of Inspiring Teens Magazine.

The sun was shining bright on our flowing dresses as we walked along the abandon train tracks. Going down the hill Kari, Leslie, my mom, and I felt a drastic change in temperature. All of us instantly got the chills, but we walked on.

As we continued walking the tunnel slowly started to take the spotlight. While we were taking pictures there was an odd scratching sound coming from behind the stone wall. Seconds later a thick white mist began to disperse from the mysterious tunnel. Suddenly, a frog emerged from a pile of leaves.

After some time, I finally aught the frog, but it leapt from my hands and hopped away so that I don’t catch him again. A new frog popped out, then another.  There were a lot of frogs...

Little did we know that there was a scarier story behind this tunnel.

The legend goes, a conductor of a train did not know how long the tunnel was. So when he thought it was a good time, he stuck his head out the window, to then be decapitated.

So if you go to the tunnel and put your head on the tracks, it is said that you will hear train sounds. Once you hear these train sounds you have to start running through the entire tunnel. If you don’t run and the train catches up to you, some say that your head will get decapitated just like the conductors.

Kari, Leslie, my mom, and I all were walking along the tracks to get back to our car, when randomly there was a deceased fox body, which was not there before. We all returned to the car spooked. Driving away all we thought about was what each event meant in the supernatural world. For instance; the cold is a sign of ghosts, the scratching could also be a ghost, the mist in addition could also lead to a sign of spirits, the frogs lean towards witches and lastly the fox, which is just unknown.

Overall, I know that someone or something was there that day, we all felt it.

Zandie Hall and Emma Dickinson interview Hudson Loverro
for the 2017 Winter Issue of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Idina Menzel, Kristen Chenoweth, Jenny Lee Stern, Lin-Manuel Miranda. These are just some of the big Broadway stars, and Hudson Loverro is on his way to becoming a Broadway star with them!
At just age 9 Hudson had his first role in the hit off Broadway production of A Christmas Story, followed by the national tour of Kinky Boots. Most recently he made his Broadway debut playing the young Chazz in the smash hit A Bronx Tale.

1. How did you get into acting?
“ My older sister Audrey inspired me to be a performer.” Hudson said she was in local community performances and wanted to be like her. “ I had always been into dancing and have had lessons since I was 4 and now I am taking singing lessons. I wanted to be like her and she was my inspiration to perform.”

2. Do you find any challenges in the demanding schedule of being a performer?
Hudson replied, “Yes of course! It has been very hard, but my family has handled this extremely well.” Hudson told us,” “My family has been so supportive through this amazing opportunity. They have helped me on tour while juggling school work .”

3. How long have you been preforming?
“I’ve loved preforming my entire life. I started dancing and singing around the age of 4. I also did small community performances like my older sister. I played Ralphie’s younger brother in A Christmas Story at a local theater near my house. I auditioned for the role of young Chazz in A Bronx Tale and got the part. Before that I also traveled the country performing in Kinky Boots.”

4. What is it like before, after and during a show?
“Before the show is a very special feeling. Whether it’s a small or a big show, it’s always exciting,” Hudson told us. “During the show it feels amazing to know that you made at least one person’s day and everyone is happy. After the show, it is an amazing feeling when people ask for an autograph and say they loved your show! Seeing their happy faces just makes you happy. It’s also a feeling I’ll never take for granted,” Hudson said.

5. Is it hard juggling your acting and your school work?
“When I was on tour, it was really hard with all the shows and school. My mom had to home school me and I had a tutor at the set. I had a hard time finding time for sleep.  My family really helped though and I couldn’t have done it without them!”

6. What was it like traveling for the show?
“It was really amazing and such a great experience! It was the hardest on my family because we did have to travel a lot and they couldn’t always come. Finding family nearby or somewhere to stay was hard also. I had a great time performing though and it was awesome!”

7.  What is your dream role to someday play?
“ I would love to star in Les Miserables as Jean Valjean someday.”

Inspiring Teens Members do a fun group shoot at Belmar Beach

My favorite shoot yet! The girls and I bonded so much and had a stellar time. I cannot wait to make more memories like that!
- Ellie Kuhnle

We went to the beach! We had a lot of fun under the pier in the ocean air. We all took turns taking over the Snap Chat Behind the Scenes - Ellie took over with some filters. Some huge waves created sine wet clothes and a lot of laughter. I loved the laughs and the love.
We had an ice cream break and a Lively live stream on the way home. We had so much fun in Belmar I can't wait to see this fun group again!
- Larissa Chelius

My favorite part about the shoot was getting to hang out with an amazing group of girls and getting to enjoy the beautiful  scenery. The big waves hurricane Jose brought was such an awesome surf, I've never seen anything like it. We had a lot of fun making silly, funny videos from our adventure at the beach to getting ice cream at Wegmans ! But the best part I think was just making fun memories with everyone that day! Thanks again to Leslie and the wonderful group of girls.
xoxo ~ Cyrena Spafford

We went to Belmont beach and my favorite part of the trip was when everybody was getting splashed by the water while we were getting pictures taken! I loved our group because we all didn't know each other very well but we got along very well and fast!

Bucks County Gymnast Shares her Fashion Style in Issue one of iTi STYLE:

My name is Peyton Young, and I am in 7th grade at Newtown Middle School. I am aso a gymnast. My style revolves around what I wear in the gym since I spend most of my free time there. I know I wear leotards in the gym, but outside of the gym I wear a lot of tshirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants with gymnastics logos on it. Since I go to all of these competitions, I have a lot of gymnastics merchandise and leotards that you are given for free or that you can purchase there.

So, basically, my outfits represents me and my sport. You can also get a lot of these clothes at online stores like GK and Plum. You can see a lot of gymnasts wearing my style because they do my sport. I love my style because it shows who I am and it shows that I am a gymnast and that I really, really love gymnastics. It also makes me feel confident when I wear these clothes.

This style is worn with or without makeup, and the hair is usually up in a ponytail or a messy bun. I have to wear this outfit at least 4 days a week, and for at least 3 hours each time, sometimes even longer. I also love that my style comes in a bunch of colors. It can be rainbow, black, or white, and  really just about any color you can think of. I have about at least 30 leotards of different colors and designs. At this point I find it very comfortable since I am in it so often. It may not be for everyone, but it’s definitely for me!

Constructing Computers

Picture

An interview with RJ Toothill by Grace Mahony

How did you become interested in computers?
I really don’t know… it was some YouTube video that I watched.
What inspired you to build your own computer from scratch?
I found a channel about mostly building computers and stuff. It just kinda caught on from there.

How old were you when you built your computer? Was this a challenge or asset?
I was ten and it was a little hard to comprehend stuff like knowing what each value & gigahertz meant

What was your favorite part of the process and why?
Shopping for the components. The store had everything like boards and ram. It was awesome.

Do you want to work with computers when you grow up?
Yes…either in programming or something in assembling computers.

How long did it take to build your computer?
Alright, this is hard to explain, but it should’ve taken eight hours, but because we had a faulty mother board, it took us about a week to diagnose that it was a faulty mother board. So in all it took about a week.

Can you walk me through the basic steps?
First you want to know what you want to do with the computer. For example, video editing, you’d want a more beefy computer for rendering. Then you’d research and you’d find what specific specs would fit that. So you’d need a better processing unit and not as much ram. And then you’d shop for the components, build it, and make sure it posts or puts an output to the screen. And then install the software.

How do you begin such a big project?  Research. You need to do a lot of research on it.
Did you have any help?
My dad helped put in the smaller components and the ram. Rams are kinda hard to install.
How did it feel when you were finally finished?
Relieved mostly because we actually found the problem for it not booting, which was the broken mother board. And accomplished just cause the feeling that you built a computer.

Are there any parts of the computer that were your personal choice?
Actually, the personal touch was we bought another hard drive so we can put two operating systems on it, which was mostly our choice…it wasn’t required.

What advice would you give to other kids, who want to work with computers?
Do a lot of research, watch videos on it, like actually watch someone build the computer and find out what each component does.

My Style by Paige Ross | Issue One of iTi STYLE Magazine

I would describe my style as comfortable, colorful, and trendy. I do not like to shop by brand names, rather I look in many different stores for items that interest me. Although, if I had to name my favorite stores, I would choose H&M, Hollister, and Target.

Most importantly, I prefer my clothes to be comfortable. For example, I like Under Armour and Nike because they design clothes that are loose fitting. These brands offer t-shirts, sweatshirts, and shorts that are simple and are not covered in busy words and patterns. You would most likely find me wearing comfortable and casual clothes to school. I even get comfortable down to my feet by wearing slides, flip flops, and sneakers.
Picture
Although I wear black and white every now and then, I prefer my clothes to be colorful. Some of my favorite colors include blue, pink, and purple. Wearing bright colors puts me in a good mood when it is raining or I am feeling tired. It is never a bad idea to mix and match colors, but I don’t get too crazy. I even make sure that my make-up has a pop of color to go with my outfit.

When I think of trendy, I think of items that follow what is currently popular with a lot of people. Some trendy clothes that you can find in my closet are t-shirt dresses and anything that contains the brand names Pink, Hollister, or American Eagle. Accessorizing your outfits with a choker or a pair of sunglasses can also put you in the trendy category. Another trend that I like is putting my hair in a messy bun or giving my long hair some loose curls.

My style is unique from others, mainly due to my petite frame.  My size limits the selection of items from my mature style preferences and forces me to get creative to achieve the look that I desire. I have learned that it is still possible to get items that are comfortable, colorful, and trendy no matter what size you are.

Membership Perks - Photo Shoots for iTi STYLE: By Olivia Bush

As part of our membership perks to Inspiring Teens, five of us girls participated in a fun photoshoot in some pretty cool places in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

We all started out at the Inspiring Teens studio in Warrington, PA. We came in wearing an outfit that went along with something that is special to us that we brought for props. For example, a football jersey and a football. Then we all moved on to an outdoor shopping center, where we wore trendy and fashionable outfits. The last location we were photographed at was a park. For this location, we all wore something summery. Some of us sat by the edge of the creek to take our photos, and some  of us girls actually got in the creek!

The timing on this shoot was perfect, as it was the start of the new ITI STYLE Magazine. A place where teens can share their styles! Not your ordinary Fashion Magazine... because who cares about Fashion when you have Inspiring STYLE!

An interview with teen dancer Madison Dedieu
by Olivia Bush for the 2017 Winter Issue of Inspiring Teens Magazine

1) What/who inspired you to start dancing? My mom because she was the person who really got me to start dance classes when I was 3, but my biggest dance inspiration right now are my dance teachers.

2) What styles do you currently dance? Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Musical Theater,  & Tap.  Contemporary or Musical Theater would be my favorite because they are both so fun to perform and to express yourself in.

3) What is your favorite dance you have performed? Last season, I performed a Musical Theater dance with six other girls called “I Can Cook Too” from On The Town which placed very high and was so much fun.

4) What is your favorite part about performing? Definitely being able to express myself through all my movements and just being there with these girls that are basically my family. The energy is such a crazy feeling.

5) Have you taken any master dance classes? Yes, I have taken a class at Abby Lee Dance Center in Los Angeles, Alex Wong from So You Think You Can Dance, JoJo Siwa, many dancers from Joffery Ballet School, Katy Perry’s back up dancer Khasan Brailsford, and Courtney Ortiz.

6) Which one is your favorite reality show & would you want to be on it? My favorite has to be World of Dance.  I think it would be so much fun and such a cool experience dancing in front of so many people, so yes!

7) If you could dance with any dancer who would it be?  I would have to say Eva Iago because she is so close to my age and is such a good dancer and is just someone that I aspire to preform like.

8) How far do you want to take dance? Right now, I want to go to college for dance and be a dance teacher.

Morgan Young Shares Her STYLE

I'm Morgan Young and I'm a junior at Council Rock High School North. When I was deciding about what style I wanted to choose for this photoshoot, I didn’t even need to think about what I wanted to do because I immediately knew this was the style for me! For my style, I chose a 50's themed look. This style has always stood out to me because I have always loved the look. I originally picked this era because I fell in love with rockabilly dresses. I saw pictures of them and I instantly knew this was the style for me! Although this style includes peter pan collared shirts and poodle skirts as well, I loved the idea of a classic and retro 50's look! I knew immediately that this was the style that I wanted to recreate, because I have always loved dressing up.

Wearing this outfit made me feel confident and I feel like it fits my personality perfectly, because I can be outgoing and make a statement if I want to. Sometimes I’m convinced that I was born in the wrong era because I would have loved to dress like this all the time, because the look is so appealing to me. It would be a great experience to spend everyday getting dolled up like this on a daily basis, but sadly this style would take too long to recreate enough outfits. I don't dress like this everyday but if I could, I would, because the style is unique but very cute! I have always loved the style of this era ever since I’ve see it portrayed in movies or even TV shows, and especially from Grease. I know it's not what all of the women wore in this time period but it's special to me because it's my own take on the 50’s. This look is perfect if you like to dress up and be bold!

An American Musical: A Unique History Lesson by Ava Soloff
for the Winter 2017 Issue of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Hamilton: An American Musical tells the story of a passionate, intelligent, young fellow, Alexander Hamilton. Since its Broadway debut in 2015, it has been the most popular show on Broadway. Directed and written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (who also portrays Hamilton in the original cast), this hip-hop rap Broadway musical was nominated for sixteen Tony Awards and walked away with eleven including Best Musical of 2015, Best Leading Actor in a Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Musical, Best Leading Actress in a Musical, Best Score, and Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Lin- Manuel also gave his famous "Love Is Love" speech that later became very popular and inspirational during his acceptance of the Best Score award.

Before the musical, few talked about Alexander Hamilton and many thought he was a former U.S. president. "He was just a guy on the ten" explained Mr. Miranda in an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Many students claim they learned more about history from the musical than they would have in school. They say it’s more in-depth and appealing than a dry history lesson that you would typically find in a textbook because it is a hip-hop rap Broadway hit musical. Many teachers also enjoy it and often recommend that students listen to and/or see the musical.

At first, I was a little skeptical about liking this. My parents listened to it quite often, so I decided to give it a shot. From the first song to the last, I fell in love with it. The lyrics are so catchy and the songs are great to jam to. Both the original cast and the understudies in the show are very diverse and they prove that anyone can be anything. The cast ranges from Asian to African American plus many more. Lin himself is from Puerto Rico. I was fortunate enough to receive tickets to see it and recommend that everyone at least listen to the music. I guarantee that you, like me, will be inspired and will make it your mission to get tickets to see the show!

“I’m past patiently waitin’ I’m passionately smashin’ every expectation. Every action’s an act of creation!” —Hamilton, “My Shot”

Pennhurst Asylum

Picture

By Larissa Chelius -
Photo Shoot at Pennhurst Asylum for Issue 1 of iTi STYLE

Pennhurst Asylum. Originally known as the Eastern Pennsylvania State Institution for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic was an institution for mentally and physically disabled people. Out deep in the woods where nobody can see is one of the scariest abandon lots ever known. Walking in all you can see are crumbling buildings all around and a grassy courtyard with a rusty old decrepit swing set in the middle. With only two buildings safe to walk in, there are still many horrific sights and stories. While exploring, there are some untouched buildings. You could see how repelling it must have been for the 10,000 patients that were housed all over the property. The ceilings were caving in, windows were shattered, it’s not hard to believe that it had been abandon for 25 years.

Going back to the historical facts of Pennhurst Asylum, the doctors didn’t treat the patients as they should have. For example, some of the more aggressive patients had to get all of their teeth pulled, due to how they would bite the doctors taking out chunks of their flesh. Going along with that, the disrespect towards the patients was what started the closing of the asylum. The story goes that a doctor wanted to punish an aggressive patient that was physically hurting another patient.  He asked what medication could be given to the patient causing said patient the most pain, but does not kill him. Some of the patients that were kept at Pennhurst had schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, epilepsy, learning disabilities, or they were mute, deaf, or blind.

Picture
Moving on, deep down under all of the buildings is a narrow and icy tunnel system which consisted of some piping for the buildings above. Walking inside of the Mayflower (one of the refurbished buildings) was an entirely different story. The first sight was of a long hallway that was covered with graffiti. Heading upstairs there was another hallway which had a room full of rubber furniture. This is where all of the most aggressive patients were kept. There were small living quarters for each of them in the general area. The patients had to fit at least four people per room, due to the lack of space. In this general area there was rubber furniture, rusty lockers, and one table. Along with that room, down the hall were rooms for many other patients.

On the third floor was where most of the bigger rooms were. Along with those rooms, there was a bathroom, and a room where files and X-rays were looked at. Some of the bigger rooms even had cushioned seats with closets and chipping paint. In one of the rooms was an original toy that was found in the building. The people that stayed in these rooms most likely liked the fact that they were close to the bathroom. Although, from what we saw the bathrooms were not the most luxurious. The toilets had no doors, but the showers gave you a little bit of privacy. The most horrific part of the bathroom was the bath its self. Walking up to it I felt a crushing feeling across my chest. Going down the steps I felt a release of pressure and when I felt a breeze of fresh air I felt completely normal. Overall, I fell that Pennhurst will stay one of the most interesting experiences I ever had.

The Sky is the Limit

The Sky is the Limit by Alicia Beyer for the Winter 2017 issue of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Everyone has their own ways of being entertained.
Some people love to read, while others enjoy watching movies.
We all have our own ways to indulge ourselves with something we love to help time passed by.
For me, it is the sky. The sky was my own entertainment.
The sky is the way me and my friends could spend time together, while doing something free.
There was nothing I loved more this past summer than hanging out to watch the beautiful summer sunset.
In fact, it was probably how I spent most of my summer.
Watching the sky.
After thunderstorms, during sunsets and even an early sunrise.
What was especially cool this past summer was the solar eclipse.
It was obviously a well-known event, and personally I thought there was nothing cooler than a crowd over a thousand people getting together at the community college to watch it.
What I find the most entertaining about the sky is that we all look up at the same sky.
We could be looking at the same sunset at Tyler State Park as you are looking at somewhere else.
Everyone could see the same shades of purple, but we could all be seeing completely different things.
The last thing that is the most intriguing to me about the sky is we all have so many different stories and lives under the same big sky.
To me that’s amazing.
We are all so different, and yet we all share the same big beautiful sky.

Senior Year - Portraits & More

Senior Year - By Kimberly Wang | Issue One of iTi STYLE

Have you ever heard the expression “I feel like it was just yesterday I was in elementary school??” Time is something that goes by so fast. You never get the days of your youth back. You should cherish every moment you have in life. Somebody might tell you that but you don’t really understand what it means until you get older and miss all your younger fun experiences. Senior year is really our last year to be kids and have fun and not have too much responsibility. I always hear my brother and his friends saying they wish they were back in high school because it was so much easier and so much fun. In senior year of high school you are the ones with all of the experience in the school and in a very familiar, comfortable environment. The teachers really want you to succeed and they are there for you in a caring way. We are not out there in the real world yet. After senior year, we become “adults” and have to go to college and we have so many more responsibilities. We are living on our own and having to maintain so many things. We will never get our senior year back. We can only go through and enjoy senior year once so we better make it a good one and make it last. Our senior pictures allow us to capture this wonderful moment in time. So much changes the moment we graduate high school. Our senior pictures allow us to look back on our youth, remember the good, fun times, and many different learning experiences. We all have our own place in our high school. When we look back on these pictures we can reflect back on how far we have come since our high school days.

Picture
For me personally, I choose to make the most of every day of my senior year because it does go by fast and my life will never be like this ever again. I really do advise everyone to get involved in so many things at school. That is how you meet new people and make new friendships that you can have for the rest of your life. You really should put yourself out there and make a mark. I have made my senior year last by being involved in so many things at my school, CB South. For example, I am involved in so many clubs such as NHS, Mill Creek Mentors, Cooking Club, Titans Connect, and Link. Titans connect is a club where we get to dance and have a fun time doing activities with the Down Syndrome kids. They love it and I love having meetings and just spending time with them. I am also involved in the choir and the Sheppard Project. This is a project where we collect presents for the holidays and give them to underprivileged children in an underprivileged school. The awesome part is how we get to go to the school and watch how happy the children are when they open their presents. From this, I have learned to never take things in my life for granted because I know somewhere else in the world it is always worse. I know I will never regret joining these fun activities and clubs because I have met some really amazing people. Some of those people I know I will have friendships with for the rest of my life. I love all of these clubs and events because it helps out other children who are in need. If I weren’t in these activities I would really be missing out and not be making the most of my last year in high school.
In conclusion, love and enjoy every moment of your senior year. Get your senior pictures and make sure you never lose track of them because you only have one chance to take them but you can reflect on them as many times as you want. Make each and every day a great day with a positive attitude and an appreciation for all you have. Even days when you feel senior year is hard, never give up just keep on trying and pushing through. Just remember the day after your high school graduation is the moment everything changes. It is when you have a lot more responsibility and have so much more work to do. Remember, you will never get this moment in your life back and change what you did. So make your mark a good one the very first time, so later in life you don’t have any regrets!

Top 10 things entertaining to teens by Jillian Cardinal
Published in Issue 11 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Teens can be entertained in different ways; some may think that shopping is the best thing ever and others feel that way about camping. My personal favorite is #1!! What’s entertaining to you?

1. Shopping – lots of teens love to go shopping at the mall because we can all go to our favorite stores and get new clothes.  It’s fun, and we also have a good time with our friends and family while we shop.
2. Social media - most teens are really into social media such as Instagram and Snapchat. It is fun for teens to be able to send funny pictures and have our conversations not just over text messages.
3. YouTube – teens like to watch videos of whatever we want whenever we want by using YouTube. There are all different types  that we can watch like makeup videos, funny videos and DIY videos.
4. Movies – teens love going to the movies and eating buttery popcorn and sweet candies while watching a movie we have been waiting to see.  All of this is better to experience with our friends or family.
5. Reading – some teens even like to read and create a picture in our head or even put ourselves as a character into the books that we read.   Teens also read magazines too, just like this one!
6. Music /Concerts – It is so fun to see our favorite singers and performers in person.  Listening to our favorite songs while we’re in the shower or even cleaning our rooms helps bring a little entertainment and fun.
7. Hanging with friends –teens really love it when we can hang out with our friends. We like to watch movies, go to the mall, go swimming or just listen to music and talk.
8. Watching Football- Teens like going to the high school football games and being able to meet up with our friends to walk around, grab some snacks and watch the football game.
9. Playing sports- teens like to get active and cooperate with a team and play their favorite sports.  Whether it’s playing basketball, football or even cheerleading, playing sports is a great way to make new friends.
10. Hiking/ camping- some teens are very adventurous and like hiking or even camping in the woods.   Although not all teens are excited about the bugs, it is a great time to disconnect from our phones and reconnect to our friends and family.

Young Designer Emma Dickinson Shares Her STYLE

Emma Dickinson, a designer and stylist, featured in Issue 1 of iTi STYLE

I chose this dress because I designed and sewed it. I made it at my sewing class with Leia Barrett.  Leia has been my sewing teacher for two years and has taught me to sew many fun pieces of clothing. I am very proud of this dress because I made it and it is an original that no one else has.

I picked this fabric because the colors went great together.  The main fabric is made up of blues, greens and light yellows.  Those colors make up the flowers and other designs around the flowers.  The neck line and hem of the dress are made up of a black and white zig zag pattern that contrasts with the body of the dress. The sleeves are made up of green and yellow fabric that tie on the shoulders.

I chose a silver Eiffel tower necklace to accessorize the dress.  I like it because it is just a plain silver chain with the Eiffel tower on the end.  Half of the tower sparkles with tiny blue gemstones.  The necklace is simple and is not a distraction from the dress.

Now that the weather has gotten a bit cooler, I added a pair of white leggings and a pink cardigan. I picked the white leggings because if I chose a pattern it would not match the dress.  I love how the cardigan has small holes so that you can still see the bright colors of the dress.  My silver  flats finish off the outfit.

Extra Extra! How to be one.

How to be an extra, by Delila Matara - Issue 11 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

As a teenager, it is very hard to gain the recognition you deserve. I was in the same exact situation as you. My name is Delila Matara, and this is how I got on television.  I started out with a small home movie produced and directed by some family friends. After a couple shots, I fell in love with being on camera.
My mother liked the idea as well, so we began getting more and more involved. Here is a very personal tip from me to you: the internet will be your best friend during this adventure. Always look for open-calls on the internet. But before I send you off, here are a few tips….

1.  Never go to an interview/casting without an adult.
2.  Make sure you have the correct working papers, permits, and worksheets for that particular state/audition.
3.  Do major investigating on where you are going! (If it seems shady, get out of there)
4.  Try to make friends, you never know who you are going to meet.
5.  Always bring different color shirts/pants/shoes.
6.  Check your email for specific outfits & what you need to bring.
7.  Bring along a notebook & pencil, just incase you need to write down information.
8.  Make sure you know who you are meeting with.
9.  Try to find out that agency’s instagram, facebook, and/or twitter.
10 . If you wear makeup, bring along foundation with you.
11.  ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, get enough sleep & something to eat.

Do not be fooled by the small word, “extra.” Every single extra in a show or movie, makes the difference. Without all these people involved, the scene does not seem realistic.
I hope that these tips were helpful, my best wishes go to you, future actor/actress!
