Humans are realizing the lasting impact we have on the Earth and how it leads to negative issues such as global warming and climate change. We are also noticing that things such as plastic are getting thrown away and hurting our environment. Here are 10 everyday changes you can make to be more environmentally friendly.
#1 Take Shorter Showers The first way you can try and be more environmentally friendly is by taking shorter showers. If you take shorter showers you are automatically reducing your water consumption. This is an easy change you can make to your routine and helps the earth as well.
#2 Turn off Lights When you are leaving a room it is important to turn the lights off. Turning the lights off reduces your energy consumption. When you use less energy, it is decreasing power plant emissions, which is one of the main causes of climate change.
#3 Unplug Things Not Being Used As well as turning off lights, unplugging things that aren’t being used also reduces energy being used. Therefore, when you’re not using your phone charger or anything else plugged in, it’s a good idea to unplug it.
#4 RECYCLE!! One of the most obvious ways to be more environmentally friendly is to recycle everything with a recyclable label on it. Recycling ensures that less waste is thrown away and instead it can be reused. Many times, things that are thrown away have a bad impact on the environment and recycling solves that.
#5 Use Reusable Items Instead of having to recycle, it’s better to try and use reusable items. From water bottles, to reusable shopping bags, it’s automatically better for the environment and saves you money.
#6 Use Less Plastic Items A lot of plastic is affecting ocean ecosystems and the animals that live in it. Some oceans are filled with plastic and the plastic is getting consumed by the sea animals. Not only does this affect the animals, but when we eat seafood those plastic particles could get into our bloodstream. This is a big issue which is why we should strive to eliminate plastic usage.
#7 Don’t Drive Driving less ensures less energy is used and released into the atmosphere. If you are going somewhere short distance, try and use an alternative like biking or walking. This automatically ensures fewer fossil fuels are used.
#8 Eat Less Meat Eating less meat, especially beef can help improve the environment. Meat consumption is a part of global warming because the animal agriculture to make meat releases a lot of harmful greenhouse gases. Therefore, you can try and reduce the amount of meat you consume.
#9 Use LED lights Light bulbs contribute to the heat we release into the atmosphere. If you use LED lights, it’s an environmentally friendly alternative because it isn’t as wasteful as normal light bulbs. The next time you change a light bulb try to get this friendly alternative.
#10 Plant a Tree An automatic thing that could positively impact the environment is planting trees. This gives people more oxygen to breath and automatically makes the earth greener. Our rain forests are getting cut down, therefore planting trees ensures that we have the oxygen we need.
