Zoe Adgalane - Pennsylvania Interview by Larissa Chelius Nomination by Kristalynn Torpey Photography by: Chris Henrikson (top image), Alexa M. Santy, & Thomas McIntyre, Issue 23 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
The Nomination: Zoe is 13 years old and just finished her 10th year dancing for Philadelphia Dance Center. She is a member of their award-winning company and has been competing for 8 years. This year was especially exciting because she won 1st place overall in her age group and 4th overall in the entire competition for a solo she completely choreographed herself. For the last 2 years she has also been a part of Brickdoor Productions, a youth theater group, where she just finished her 4th production. She loves dance and everything she has learned from it both in and out of the studio.

How do you work through the rigorous hours of work that comes with dance? As a dancer, the long hours are to be expected, and as grueling as they might be in that moment, I just have to remember that I'm at the studio because I want to be there. I chose to come to Philadelphia Dance Center to create and learn. It's my creative outlet, so it doesn't feel long at all.
Could you describe what the commitment is like for dance? There is a lot of commitment involved with dance. I've had to give up a couple small things for dance, but in the end there's no place I'd rather be than in the studio. My teammates are like family to me.
By being a dancer for Philadelphia Dance Center and playing a part in Brickdoor Productions, what have they taught you that could help you off stage? I've learned many things. Some of which being to never give up, determination and passion gets you far in life, try new things, and do your best in everything you do!
What productions have you done with Brickdoor Productions? I have done James and the Giant Peach, Schoolhouse Rock, a youth performers showcase, and Go Fish the musical with Brickdoor Productions.

What opportunities have you received off stage for being a member of these various groups? I've been able to be an ambassador for Chris Henrikson photography. I've been able to do a concept video with Kaylee Pirrung. I've been able to do a RuPaul tribute with Alexa Marie Santy. And I've been able to model for Artstone Costumes and Costume Gallery.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today? The advice I would give is to not give up, and only be in competition with yourself to be better.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans for the future? In 5 years I will be graduated from high school. I will hopefully continue dancing and become a professional dancer/ choreographer.
What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring? I think my drive inspires others.
How do you keep yourself organized with everything you have on your plate? I memorize my schedules and due dates for school and dance.

Who do you find inspiring? My family and friends inspire me.
Pizza or Tacos? Soda or Water? Cats or Dogs? Pizza, water, dogs
3 Things on your bucket list Three things on my bucket list are to travel, see a drive-in movie, and have a bonfire with friends
