Chaise Siegel – Pennsylvania Nomination and Photography by Dave Cyphert, ProPoint Media Photography Issue 49 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Chaise is inspiring because she has worked hard to maintain good grades through her high school career. Chaise has started and lettered in varsity softball playing centerfield and second base since her 9th grade year. Chaise was able to balance school, softball, and work for the last 2 years even during the difficult times of COVID. Chaise has volunteered her time in many kids’ functions over the last 6 years at a local Sportsman's Club. Chaise self-taught herself how to play the guitar, and enjoys playing and singing for her friends and family.
What should we definitely know about you? To start off, one thing you should definitely know about me is that I am very determined and hardworking. I am very strong-willed when it comes to the activities I love, and you will not ever catch me not giving my all. Something else you should know about me is I love making people smile, whether it is me cracking a joke or me singing and playing guitar seeing the people around me happy makes me happy.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? One inspiring thing that my nomination does not cover about me is, over the last few years not only have I been juggling school, sports, and work but mental illness also. Around six months ago after being scared to talk to someone for years, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. Depression is not just being overwhelmed in sadness, at times it makes the simplest tasks seem impossible. With the support of my amazing friends and family I was able to overcome the hardships and become a happier me.
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be on and why? The topic that I would be able to most efficiently present to a group of peers would doubtlessly be softball. I grew up watching my dad play and I have played since I was about 10 years old. I have seen what it takes, mentally and physically, on and off the field.
