Aimsley Justice – Arkansas
Nomination by Jacole Justice
Photography by Kristina Eisenhower Photography
Issue 90 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Aimsley Justice is the core definition of inspiring. It has been said that if you are an inspiration to other people; you demonstrate excitement, encouragement and motivation to those around you. This is the very core definition of Aimsley Justice.
It is a rare site to find this young woman without a smile and infectious laughter. She has an innate ability to lighten up a room and soften hard situations. She is a positive minded person naturally but high school has challenged her to focus on the positive through girl drama, hard break ups and stressful classes.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Aimsley lives for competition! She has grown up in a very active lifestyle. Through the years she’s worn all types of jerseys from Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball as well as several Dance leo’s. Tho she excelled in all these areas, her true love is softball! She helps lead her team as a Pitcher. In this role she has learned the importance of encouragement. The stress and pressure of pitching can be very daunting. She learned to lean on the encouragement of her teammates. A trait she has found to be a treasure to pay forward to others.

The primary motivation in Aimsley’s life is her relationship with God. She has spent the better part of this last year focusing on bettering herself, elevating her own expectations and making dreams a reality. None of which could have been accomplished without her faith being her driving force. With these self intentional actions she has motivated a lot of under class men, teammates and friends to do the same.

Aimsley volunteers in the community and at her school; however her greatest impact will always be on her younger brother Grayson. She has shown him what determination, self confidence and a big smile can accomplish.

What else would you like to talk about?
I love the Word of God because it is my source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. His promises remind me that I am never alone, and His love fuels my passion for everything I do. I play softball in His name because He blessed me with the ability to compete, and I want to glorify Him with every game. Every swing, every catch, and every victory is for Him. I strive to be a light on the field, showing His grace through my actions, teamwork, and perseverance. My talent is a gift from God, and I use it to honor Him.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Passionate could never describe how I feel about softball—it’s my life, my light, and my escape. When I’m upset, I turn to the game, letting every pitch and every play remind me why I love it. It’s what I wake up looking forward to every single day. Being an athlete isn’t easy; the hard work, the setbacks, and the sacrifices are real. But I know that if you put your mind to something, nothing is impossible. Softball has shaped me, challenged me, and made me stronger. It’s not just a sport; it’s who I am.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I met my photographer through my mom—they went to high school together—but my experience with her has been like no other. She brings out a confidence in me I didn’t know I had. Every photoshoot is filled with laughter, smiles, and pure joy. She makes everything feel effortless, turning what could be just a session into unforgettable moments. Her energy, encouragement, and talent make every shot special. She’s more than just a photographer; she’s someone who truly sees me and helps me shine. I’m beyond grateful for the bond we’ve built through the lens of her camera.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My mother nominated me, and my photographer suggested it, but these two women mean everything to me. My mom is my other half—I am a mini her. Without her, I wouldn’t just lack life; I wouldn’t truly enjoy it. She makes everything easier, always guiding and supporting me. My photographer is my light in the world, capturing the real me and giving me the confidence to shine. Through her lens, I get to show people my true self. Together, they inspire me, lift me up, and remind me that I am capable of anything. I’m beyond blessed to have them.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I would love to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because it gives me the chance to show people that anything is possible. Being an athlete is a huge part of who I am, but it’s not the only thing I can be. I want to inspire others to chase their dreams, work hard, and never limit themselves. This opportunity would allow me to show the world my light and my true self, proving that we are all more than just one title. We have the power to be fearless, confident, and limitless in whatever path we choose to follow.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win the scholarship, I would most likely put it in my savings for college and use it for school-related expenses. Education is important to me, and having financial support would help me focus on my studies and future goals. College can be expensive, so every bit counts in making my dreams more achievable. This scholarship would not only ease some of that burden but also serve as a reminder that hard work and dedication pay off. I am grateful for any opportunity that helps me further my education and continue striving for success in both academics and athletics.

Issue 90 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Elizabeth Martinez is a remarkable young leader who embodies resilience, ambition, and compassion. She excels academically as a Running Start student while demonstrating outstanding leadership as ASB secretary, cheer captain, and Link Crew leader. A dedicated HOSA member, she is also one of only 11 students accepted into the prestigious Health Occupations Program, where she gains hands-on clinical experience at Prosser Memorial Hospital, rotating through emergency medicine, wound care, and the surgical floor. Despite her demanding schedule, she remains positive, driven, and deeply committed to helping others. Elizabeth is an inspiration to her peers and a role model for future generations.

Tell us about your leadership experiences.
Throughout high school, I've been a leader in many different roles. Such as ASB secretary, cheer captain, Link Crew Leader, Running Start, and HOSA and current Health Occupations student. Each role showed me something unique about teamwork, responsibility, and communication. As ASB secretary, I keep records and plan student meetings and events. Link Crew helped me develop mentorship skills as I guided younger students. These leadership roles helped prepare me to be more assertive, listen intently, and take initiative when communicating on behalf of myself and others.

Which has been your favorite and why?
While I’ve loved all my leadership roles, being part of the Health Occupations Program has been the most impactful. It’s not just leadership skills; it’s real-life experience in the medical field. Rotating through hospital departments like emergency and surgery has allowed me to interact with professionals and patients in a way that feels purposeful and fulfilling. I’ve learned to lead by example, stay calm under pressure, and communicate with empathy. This program has helped me realize that I belong in healthcare, not just as a student, but as someone who wants to make a lasting difference in people’s lives.

How would you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is based on empathy, encouragement, and service. I believe strong leaders empower others and listen as much as they speak. I like to lead by staying organized, calm, and approachable in both high-stress and everyday situations. Whether I’m helping younger students, inspiring my cheer team, or working with patients in a clinical setting, I focus on making sure people feel heard, respected, and supported. Leadership means more when you use your voice to empower others, stand up to your values and are willing to learn from those around you.

What is Running Start and why is this important to you?
Running Start is a dual enrollment program that allows high school students to earn college credit by taking college courses. This experience has been life-changing for me. It gave me a head start on my future career in healthcare and helped me build skills like time management, independence, and confidence in my academics. It also gave me an opportunity to discover who I am as a student and future professional. Instead of waiting until college to pursue my goals, I’ve been able to take meaningful steps toward them now. Running Start has empowered me to dream bigger and believe in my potential.

What is ASB and what are your responsibilities as secretary?
ASB stands for Associated Student Body, and it plays a major role in building school culture. As secretary, I’ve had the responsibility of keeping records of our meetings, helping plan events like spirit weeks, and making sure student voices are heard. It’s a position that requires attention to detail, communication, and consistency. I’ve learned to collaborate with other student leaders, manage time efficiently, and represent my peers in a way that promotes inclusivity and fun. Being part of ASB has taught me that leadership isn’t just about planning, it’s about listening, organizing, and following through on what matters.

Tell us about your cheer career.
I started cheerleading during my freshman year and it quickly became one of the most meaningful parts of my high school experience. I worked hard to perfect my skills, and by junior year I was honored to become cheer captain, a role I held through my senior year. Cheer taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to lead with confidence and passion. I have grown not just as a performer but as a motivator and leader for younger teammates. Being part of cheer helped me discover my voice, embrace leadership, and stay involved in my school and community.

What do you love most about cheer?
What I love most about cheer is the ability to lift others, literally and emotionally. It’s more than routines and chants; it’s about being the energy behind the team and the school. Cheer helped me become more confident and taught me how to perform under pressure while staying positive. Whether it was leading a crowd, encouraging a teammate, or performing at a game, I felt empowered knowing I was part of something bigger than myself. It also gave me a support system and the chance to create lasting friendships, all while promoting school spirit and unity.

What is a favorite accomplishment with your Link Crew as a leader?
One of my favorite moments as a Link Crew leader was organizing and leading our freshman orientation. It was my job to make incoming students feel welcomed and supported as they entered high school, and I took that role seriously. I remember how nervous I was as a freshman, and I wanted to be the person I wish I had. From planning icebreakers to showing students around campus, I made sure everyone felt seen. Seeing the smiles on their faces reminded me of the impact small acts of leadership can have.

What does the experience with HOSA and the Health Occupations Program mean to you?
Being involved with HOSA and the Health Occupations Program has meant the world to me. These opportunities have allowed me to apply my passion for healthcare in real-life settings. Through clinical rotations, I’ve observed medical professionals in action, cared for patients, and even practiced skills like taking vitals and assisting with mobility. I’ve also participated in HOSA competitions and community service events. These experiences have strengthened my desire to become a healthcare professional and reminded me that compassion is just as important as medical knowledge. They’ve been the heart of my high school journey and the pathway for my future.

What have you learned through this process?
Through all these experiences, I’ve learned to manage my time, lead with empathy, and stay focused on my goals. Balancing school, college courses, clinical experience, leadership roles, and community service has been challenging at times, but also rewarding. I’ve learned growth often comes from discomfort and that leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room, but about being dependable, thoughtful, and respectful. I’ve also discovered the importance of mental health and self-reflection, especially when things get overwhelming. These lessons will stay with me for life, especially as I enter the world of healthcare.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Beyond my nomination, what truly inspires me is my journey of overcoming anxiety and self-doubt. From a young age, I struggled with self-confidence, but instead of letting it hold me back, I used it as motivation to uplift others. Through cheerleading, I found my voice, and through healthcare, I found my purpose. Volunteering with HOSA, ASB, and community programs has reinforced my passion for service. My resilience and empathy shape who I am, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their challenges as strengths, just as I have.

What else would you like to talk about?
I would love to share more about my passion for healthcare and my journey toward becoming a medical professional. Growing up, I was fascinated by medicine, inspired by my own experiences with injuries and my desire to help others. Being part of the Health Occupations Program has given me firsthand clinical experience, reinforcing my commitment to patient care. I am currently working toward earning my CNA, which will further prepare me for a career in the medical field. Additionally, my leadership roles in ASB, cheerleading, and HOSA have shaped my ability to support and advocate for others.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
If I were offered my dream job today, I would choose to become a general surgeon. I’ve always been interested in the human body and how surgical procedures can save lives. The precision, focus, and responsibility required in surgery excite me, and I’m drawn to the idea of being able to make a direct impact on someone’s life. As a general surgeon, I would have the opportunity to help people in critical moments, solve complex medical problems, and continue learning every day. It’s a career that combines science, skill, and service, all things I’m passionate about.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am deeply passionate about healthcare and the impact of compassionate patient care. From a young age, I was drawn to the medical field, inspired by my own experiences and a strong desire to help others. I could talk forever about the importance of empathy in medicine—how small acts of kindness can make a difference in a patient’s healing process. Through the Health Occupations Program and HOSA, I’ve seen firsthand how dedication and knowledge can transform lives. My goal is to pursue a career in healthcare, where I can combine science, service, and human connection to make a lasting impact.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer through my sister, who had her senior pictures taken with her. From the start, the experience was amazing, my photographer made me feel comfortable and confident, capturing my personality in every shot. The session was fun and relaxed, allowing me to express myself naturally. What I loved most was how she paid attention to the details, ensuring the lighting and angles highlighted my best features. The final photos truly reflected who I am, and I appreciated how my photographer turned my vision into reality while making the entire process enjoyable and memorable.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I’m not part of a model team with my photographer, but working with her felt like I was. She made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire process. Even though I wasn’t officially on a model team, the experience gave me a glimpse into what it’s like to model and express myself through photography. I appreciated how she brought out my personality in every shot and helped me feel seen. It was more than just taking pictures; it was a moment to celebrate who I am and everything I’ve accomplished during this exciting chapter of my life.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of my favorite memories with my sister is all the times she has been my biggest supporter. Whether it was cheering me on at my events, helping me through challenges, or just having late-night talks about life, she has always been there for me. She believes in me even when I doubt myself, and her nomination means the world to me. She inspires me with her kindness, strength, and determination, and I am so grateful to have her by my side. No matter what, I know we will always support each other in everything we do.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I strive to be a role model for others, showing that resilience, hard work, and passion can lead to success. Throughout my journey, I’ve faced challenges, but I’ve used them as motivation to grow and help others. Whether through healthcare, leadership, or community service, I want to inspire teens to pursue their dreams fearlessly. Being featured in this magazine would allow me to share my story, encourage others to embrace their strengths, and highlight the importance of kindness, dedication, and making a positive impact in the world.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to help pay for college after I graduate from high school. I plan to pursue a degree in Human Biology or Pre-Med as a stepping stone toward a career in healthcare. This scholarship would help cover tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses, easing the financial burden on my family. It would allow me to focus on my studies and gain the knowledge and experience needed to make a difference in the medical field. Every bit of support brings me closer to achieving my dreams and helping others through healthcare.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Absolutely. I would love to thank my family. They have always been my biggest supporters and have encouraged me every step of the way. Whether it was helping me practice for interviews, cheering me on at events, or reminding me of my worth when I doubted myself, they’ve been by my side through it all. Their love and belief in me have given me the strength to dream big and keep going even when things feel overwhelming. I wouldn’t be who I am today without their guidance, patience, and unconditional support.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I’m so thankful for this opportunity and honored to be part of something that uplifts and celebrates young leaders. Being recognized by Inspiring Teens Magazine reminds me how important it is to share our stories and lift each other. I hope that by reading about my journey, my leadership, struggles, and passions, others will be encouraged to chase their dreams too. We all have something valuable to offer, and I believe that with hard work, kindness, and passion, anything is possible. Thank you for allowing me to share a piece of my heart and my journey with the world.

What does being defined as a leader mean to you?
Being defined as a leader means being someone others can trust, look up to, and feel inspired by. I think that a good leader is approachable and makes others feel like they can easily come to them for support, guidance and encouragement. To me, leadership isn’t about a title- it’s about setting an example through kindness, hard work, and the way you treat people. A true leader stands up for others, uses their voice for good, and lifts people up rather than bringing them down. A leader doesn’t just guide—they listen, grow, and serve. I think a good leader is approachable. They make people feel like they can easily turn to them for guidance, support, or advice. Leadership means showing up consistently, staying kind in tough moments, and being brave enough to believe in a better future—and to help build it. It means turning your passion into purpose and using your strengths to make a real difference in your community.

What is your best leadership quality?
My best leadership quality is leading by example. As a competitive cheerleader and dedicated student, I’ve learned that actions speak louder than words. Whether I’m on the mat or in the classroom, I give 100% effort, stay focused, and carry myself with respect and positivity. I believe in staying grounded, treating everyone with kindness, and creating a space where others feel supported and encouraged. People know they can count on me to be consistent, dependable, and real. That quiet strength, especially in high-pressure situations, is what makes me the kind of leader others naturally follow.

Why is your 4.1 GPA important to you?
My GPA is important to me because it represents more than just grades—it reflects my dedication, discipline, and ability to stay focused even when things get hard. I’ve always held myself to a high standard, not just to earn good grades, but to truly understand and grow from what I’m learning. Balancing academics with the demands of competitive cheer, leadership roles, and personal challenges hasn’t been easy, but my GPA shows that I don’t back down from hard work. It’s a symbol of the goals I’ve set for myself and the future I’m building—especially as I prepare to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

What is your favorite class this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
My favorite class this year has been my co-op at a veterinary clinic. I was able to get hands-on experience doing what I love the most, working with animals! The most interesting thing I did at my co-op was being part of surgeries and being right there as the Vet saved an animal, fixed an injury, removed a growth or simply cleaned an animal's teeth. I loved every second of my experience!

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Last year I tried something new and entered the Miss Kentucky Teen U.S.A. pageant. I was looking for something that would help develop confidence and determination. Pageants celebrate diversity, intelligence, and talent, proving that beauty is more than just appearance—it’s about character, poise, and ambition. They empower individuals to use their voices for positive change, advocate for causes they believe in and inspire others to pursue their dreams fearlessly. I have found this to be true for me. It has taught me to step outside my comfort zone and dream big!

What did you do to prepare for the Kentucky Teen USA pageant?
Unlike many of the young ladies that competed in the pageant, I had very little experience. It was only my 5th pageant. I did a couple of lessons with a pageant coach working on modeling and pose. I practiced with another coach specifically on interviewing. I also got more involved in my community by volunteering at local animal shelters. When my mom and I were driving places, we would practice interviewing in the car. One thing I learned was that the interview should be like a conversation and the most important thing is connecting with the judges.

What responsibilities do you have as the winner?
I have to be a positive role model for those around me. I am expected to be active on social media, make appearances, and attend events around the state of Kentucky. I have had the opportunity to judge some pageants. I also had the amazing experience of attending Thursday’s Child fundraiser dinner and auction which is an event supporting the Kentucky Foster Care System. I have had the pleasure of hosting the Kentucky Comedy Festival several times in different cities.

Tell us about your cheer career.
I started doing competitive cheer when I was in 9th grade. I love the adrenaline when I take the stage and compete. Before high school I had never cheered. I grew up dancing and doing competitive gymnastics. Cheerleading combined two things I loved, making it a perfect sport for me. I also joined my high school team in 10th grade and cheered throughout high school. I loved cheering at football and basketball games. I love interacting with the student section. I am hoping to continue cheering at Murray State University. Go RACERS!

What is your favorite memory with your cheer team?
My favorite memory with my cheer team was competing at All Star Worlds and winning the silver medal. It was heartwarming to come from such a small town and compete against big, established gyms and be so successful.

What are you doing now to prepare for a career as a veterinarian?
I have been taking veterinary classes through Murray State University as a high school student. This fall I did a co-op at a local veterinarian clinic. I learned so much through this experience. It fueled my passion for animals and my dream of becoming a veterinarian. I was able to be involved in a variety of procedures. I also got to experience the compassion needed to be a good veterinarian. I witnessed many families having to say goodbye to their pets. I learned some valuable techniques to help grieving families during such a difficult time.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job is to be a veterinarian and run my own clinic. I want to have a clinic that gives back to the community by offering monthly free spaying and neutering services to families and pets in need.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Pets are amazing for mental health, offering unconditional love, companionship, and comfort. Whether it’s a dog’s wagging tail, a cat’s soothing purr, or a rabbit’s gentle nuzzle, animals have a special way of lifting our spirits. They help reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness by providing a sense of purpose and routine. Simply spending time with a pet can boost happiness, encourage physical activity, and promote relaxation. Their presence reminds us we are never truly alone. Pets love us without judgment, offering constant support, making them incredible companions for anyone seeking positivity and emotional well-being in their daily lives.

If you could adopt 5 animals, what would they be and why?
If I could adopt 5 animals, it would not be anything exotic. I would go to my local shelter and adopt the animals that have been there the longest, looking for their forever home. I would love it if one of those animals could be a horse, but really, I would just want to help those in the most need.

What has been your favorite project in the NHS?
My favorite thing that we do every year is trunk or treat in our high school parking lot. I love to see all the kids dressed up in their fun costumes. They also get so excited to see all of us dressed up in our costumes. I love to see the excitement on their faces when we drop the candy in their bags. You would think we were passing out money!

What experience in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been the most rewarding for you and why?
There is not one specific experience that stands out the most. I enjoyed all the guest speakers because they were positive, and I always had something to take away from their message.

What has been your most memorable service project and why?
When I was in middle school my youth group worked with an organization called The Sandwich Project. We assembled simple sandwiches that were taken into the city and given to homeless people on the streets. It was so rewarding knowing that someone would have food that very night because of the food we supplied and prepared. It was a contest every month to see if we could donate even more food and work even faster to prepare more sandwiches.

What else would you like to talk about?
Mental health in young people is a crucial issue, and it’s important to remember that it’s okay to not be okay. Everyone faces struggles, and feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re alone or weak. The most important thing is to reach out—whether it’s to a friend, family member, teacher, or counselor. Talking about your feelings can bring relief, support, and guidance. No one should suffer in silence, and seeking help is a sign of strength. You are valued, and there are people who care about you. Always remember, your feelings are valid, and you don’t have to face them alone.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
Krystal Klear was referred to us by family for her creativity and ability to make every session unique. My experience with Krystal Klear Photography was amazing! I loved that she sat down with me and got to know me before we ever had our session together. Krystal is a visionary photographer who captures emotion and depth in every shot! She always made me feel confident and comfortable while having fun with the shots. My favorite memory was going to the football field and getting shots of me standing on cheer megaphones. No matter how many times I fell off them, she was always there to cheer me on and try again. We got the perfect shot and had so many laughs!

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I was part of the 2025 Senior Team for Krystal Klear photography.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of my favorite memories was taking pictures with my dog Kylo. I love my dogs to pieces and watching Krystal and her assistant work so hard to get the perfect shots with my puppy made my heart so happy. It was also hilarious watching her work to keep my dog focused. At times she looked a little foolish, but she’ll do whatever it takes to capture the moment! She pulls out all the tricks and won’t stop until she gets the shot! She is so creative and fun to work with!

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I love the idea of sharing my story to motivate others. Whether it’s through my passions, achievements, or personal growth, I hope to inspire others to chase their dreams and believe in themselves. Being featured would be an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, celebrate hard work, and encourage others to step out of their comfort zones. I’d be honored to contribute to a platform that empowers and uplifts teens everywhere!

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian. It will help cover tuition, textbooks, and hands-on training opportunities, allowing me to focus on my studies with less financial stress. I plan to gain experience through internships and volunteer work at animal shelters and clinics to develop the skills needed to provide the best care for animals. This scholarship will bring me one step closer to helping pets and wildlife live healthier lives, and in the future, I hope to give back by offering affordable care to animals in need.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
My parents have been my biggest supporters. They’ve always believed in me, pushed me to do my best, and reminded me to stay humble and kind no matter what. My grandparents have played a huge role in my life too, always cheering me on and reminding me of the importance of faith, family, and perseverance. My older brothers and sister have inspired me, challenged me, and taught me so much just by being themselves. I’m so grateful for all the encouragement they've given me. I’d also thank my coaches and teachers, who pushed me to be better and believed in my potential even when I doubted it.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
If I had nothing to do, I would spend the day watching Disney movies snuggled up with my dogs. Watching Disney movies brings me back to my childhood and puts my mind at ease.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
My next big thing in the future is college. I am excited to attend Murray State University and pursue veterinarian medicine. I am also very excited to crown the next Kentucky Teen USA in July.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
In November I fell at cheer and suffered spinal trauma. I had to be life flighted to a trauma center. I was lucky and did not suffer permanent damage. I wore a neck collar for almost two months and experienced a great deal of pain. I returned to school right after getting out of the hospital. It was so hard going to school every day in pain and feeling nauseous (spinal trauma can cause that). I pushed through because my grades are so important to me.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
I would say just to work hard, set goals for yourself, surround yourself with positivity and people that will build you up. I was told by a coach that you don’t have to have everybody like you but when you have your circle you’re set. Find the people that help build you up and live every day to the fullest because we are not promised tomorrow.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself as a Murray State Graduate and attending Auburn in their Veterinarian program.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
I love collecting shells at the beach and hunting for agates on the shores of my grandpa’s lake home in Minnesota.

3 Things on your bucket list
I want to go to Anne Frank’s Annex, travel to Bora Bora, and compete at Miss U.S.A. (not as a teen).

Who do you find inspiring?
I find Bethany Hamilton so inspiring. She turned an unimaginable event into a powerful story of courage, faith, and perseverance. She proves that no obstacle is too big if your passion is strong enough. Her heart and grit are something to be admired and learn from.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I think others might find me inspiring because I’m laid back. I don’t pretend to be perfect, but I do strive to be consistent, driven, and someone others can count on.

Tell us about your acting career.
When did you get started and where are you at with it now? I started my acting career when I was 5 years old. My grandma owns a Performing Arts School and I started to auditioning and landed my first commercial at the age of 5! Since then I’ve been auditioning for films, Television and West End shows!

What do you love most about acting?
I love every aspect of it. I love receiving self tapes for different projects and working on developing the character of how I feel the character would be and also travelling into London for recalls to meet casting teams and the directors of certain projects. I also really enjoy attending actor workshops with my friends and working in a group together on scripts and learning from each other More than anything though, I love being on set filming! That is the best feeling in the world.

What role has been your favorite to play and why?
I would say playing the role of Daisy in the film Jodie alongside Deba Hekmat. It was great to work with her and to develop our characters. We had a rehearsal day where the director Seb Tabe watched us together and we broke down the scenes and tweaked things slightly and we worked really well together.

What do you think others might not know about acting?
I think maybe others who aren’t in this industry wouldn’t understand how hard it is to book a role or how much preparation goes into each self tape, recall and in person casting. It can be like a rollercoaster with so many highs and lows. I’ve definitely had so many times when I’ve got to the final 2 or recalled for something I really really wanted and then hear it didn’t go my way. You have to be very strong to take the knockbacks.

How did you resonate with your character of Daisy in the film "Jodie"?
I feel my character Daisy is completely opposite to how I am in real life and my upbringing. Daisy spends most of her time alone at home as her dad drinks a lot and she has to fend for herself as her mum left years ago. So it’s just her and her dad, so she’s quite a tough girl and is used to seeing her dad passed out on the sofa or having no food at home. I tried to imagine what it would be like living the way Daisy does and how alone she would feel as she’s just a child who’s having to act more like an adult because of her situation at home.

What has acting taught you?
Acting has taught me many valuable skills which I probably wouldn’t have ever dreamed of learning. It’s taught me how to be a good team player and to have self-confidence which will take me through to many other aspects of my life.

How do you get into character when the character is so far outside of your personality?
My acting coaches and I discuss the character and how they might be feeling due to the content of the scene and the other characters I’m interacting with or if it’s a scene where I have to cry, I tend to think about something really sad to help bring the emotion into the character.

What acting class or lesson has been the most helpful to you and why?
I attend many acting classes and also have a few 1.1 coaches I regularly work with who help me enourmously with scripts and being in front of the camera. I particularly like going into London when the class is run by a casting director and I spend the day working on my scene and developing the character and then the next day we film the scene, in which I end up with a great showreel.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Last Christmas I made my West End Debut in The Nutcracker at The London Coliseum for The English National Ballet which was a dream come true and i was extremely excited to audition and be selected for such a prestigious show!
I also worked on 2 projects for Netflix and Amazon Studios. I've had wonderful feedback from projects and one in compliment I've most recently had was from director Seb Tabe who said in an interview for Face Magazine that for someone so young she emits an unspoken strength and sensitivity on screen which was so nice to read!
Also recently winning 2 awards in New York for Best Young Actress at the Oniros Film Awards and also Best Young Actress at the Best Actor and Director Awards for short film Betrayal in which she played the role of Jo.

What else would you like to talk about?
Would love to talk about Dance as I train in all genres and love to do tricks and acrobatics.
Auditions and how i cope with script learning and the whole process and where I would like to be in the future and also talk about my family and pets!

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Acting and Dance! I love ALL of it and especially Dance when i get to be part of some very exciting events with the team i'm part of and perform at huge venues such such as Move It and CYD in front of 100's of people.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
My Mom is my photographer! She takes actors headshots and has her own studio and works for lots of different agencies and meets lots of other young actors and actresses. Er.... hahaha well she probably takes mine the least! Because she's so busy but she does help me with my self tapes and auditions as her studio has a great set up to film:)

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favourite memory has got to be when my mums and I spent 2 weeks together in L.A where I was taking part in lots of acting classes and meeting Casting Directors. The opportunities were amazing and we shared that together. Having fun and seeing the sights.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I have followed Inspiring Teens for a few years now and featured when I was just 8 years old which was so lovely. Its a great organisation that runs programs for teens across the globe and to celebrate teens doing amazing things with their lives which is lovely because supporting each other is so important.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I won a scholarship, wow well I would definitely help my mum and dad with my training fees and classes i attend as they do so much for me and both work really hard to give me all these opportunities.I would also LOVE to part share a horse or donate to an animal shelter as my other love is animals! It would be a dream to have a family holiday and for my whole extended family, grandmas, cousins and siblings to all make some memories together.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Yes! My family! AlwaysJ They give up so much of their time for me to take me on a 4 hour daily school run, to dance classes and auditions. I wouldn’t be able to do half of what I do without their support.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
Yes! I’m off to L.A in July to The Directors Guild for the 46th Young Artists Academy Awards Ceremony in which I have been nominated for Best Young Actor. I’m so excited to go! I’m also off to New York filming in October which I am equally excited about!

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
That’s an easy one! On my trampoline doing tricks!

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
L.A and NYC! Plus I’m off to Vietnam in 2 weeks!

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
One of them was to learn a 4 page script which had LOADS of dialogue in an Eastern European accent! That was hard!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Keeping working hard and never give up.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
My dream would be to have worked on some big films with some brilliant actors! To be in a position where I’m literally living my dream!

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
I love to paint and draw in my spare time.

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
Mmmm, maybe magic tricks! Haha my dad teaches me them!

3 Things on your bucket list
To be in a block buster film!
To meet Olivia Rodrigo and Jenna Ortega
To own a horse

Who do you find inspiring?
I find Cynthia Erivo inspiring! Shes an incredible performer and very down to earth

Photography by Che Haughton

Tell us about 247Faith. What do you love most about your business?
I started my business to connect with people my age through fashion and faith. Since I love accessorizing and often get asked about my style, it was the perfect way to share my passion.

What was the hardest part about setting up shop, and what is the most rewarding?
Outreach and logistics were challenging at first since I’m naturally quiet, but my mom’s help with promotion made a big difference. Hearing customers’ feedback and fulfilling their requests warms my heart, knowing they’ll always remember me through my jewelry.

What do you wish you would have known before you got started that might have made things easier?
People won’t just know what I’m thinking, no matter how much I want them to. Success takes time, and things don’t happen overnight.

Who is your ideal client?
An ideal customer isn’t defined by who they are, but by who they aspire to be. We are all children of God, and my mission is to provide a platform for individuals to express their faith through fashion. It’s not just about clothing; it’s about giving people the gift of connecting with their spiritual journey in a creative and personal way.

What are your responsibilities in the National Junior Beta Club?

I’ve done community service projects for local organizations, like making a puppy bandana. It was a challenge, but I learned that nothing has to be perfect as long as you try your best.

What have you learned about yourself in this organization?
Just because you don’t know how to do something doesn’t mean you can’t learn. Growth comes from trying and pushing past uncertainty.

What is your favorite class this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
Spanish 1 taught me so much, and now I can communicate with my fluent Spanish-speaking friends. Everything is still new, but it’s exciting to see my progress and connect with others in a new way.

What was your role in being named Student of the Month?
Being a good student and supporting my teachers allows me to connect with them on a personal level. This not only helps me grow but also increases opportunities for recognitions like Student of the Month.

What will you miss most about your high school days?
My friends mean a lot to me, with some friendships going back to preschool. They’re the reason I look forward to going to school every day.

What are you most looking forward to about college?
The community aspect excites me because it gives me a chance to meet new people and pushes me to step out of my comfort zone.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about my future and all the possibilities ahead. There is so much of the world I have yet to see and so many experiences I have yet to have. I’m excited to start exploring and embracing new opportunities. While I plan to continue my jewelry business, my true dream is to design homes and create beautiful spaces that people will love.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I am the top student in my architecture program and I aspire to go into the field in the future.

What has been your favorite design so far and what inspired it?
I love freestyle assignments that let me think for myself, like my 3D Architecture and Engineering Design Challenge.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
I’d love to work as a drafter or at an architectural firm where I have creative freedom.

What else would you like to talk about?
Along the way, I’ve learned important lessons, like speaking up for myself instead of waiting to be called on. I used to be a pushover, and that habit of waiting held me back. These struggles were rooted in my confidence issues. I still face them daily, but each day gets a little easier and better.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
My mom is my photographer. I haven’t always felt connected to a mirror or a camera, but she has helped me become more comfortable with taking pictures and seeing myself in a new light.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of my favorite memories with my aunt is spending a summer at her house when I was younger. We made a YouTube video where I got to do her makeup, and it was so much fun!

What family tradition do you hope never ends?
Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year because it’s the one time my entire family is together.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be featured in Inspiring Teens Magazine to share the message that God loves them and that God is love. Many people my age are deeply influenced by the world, which is often filled with violence. I want to show them that there is a better way to live.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I will put it toward my college fund since I plan to attend an out-of-state college, and realistically, it will be expensive.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
God, my family, and my church family are the most important to me. They guide and support me in everything I do.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I’ve always been a creative, building forts and designing houses online since I was little. About a year or two ago, I decided to pursue a career in architectural design.

Presley Baker

Presley Baker – North Carolina
Nomination & Photography by Waugh 2 Waugh Photography
Issue 89 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Presley loves all things sports. She has played varsity volleyball and basketball since her sophomore year and swam competitively for 11 years. Her passion for sports also extends to teaching children how to swim as part of being a certified lifeguard. Having already completed a CNA program, Presley plans to continue to make a positive impact in her community by interning at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation and attending a four-year university to pursue a nursing degree after graduation.

Tell us about your volleyball career.

I have played volleyball competitively since elementary school, playing on both my school team and on travel teams throughout my high school years. Volleyball is my all-time favorite sport. I play the middle hitter and blocker position. It is very thrilling to get a kill over the net, but even more satisfying to block your opponent’s kill. It takes precise timing and coordination and you must be able to predict your opponent’s next move, which means that you are in constant movement and must make quick decisions based on instinct and intuition. Although I had the opportunity to play volleyball at the collegiate level, I have chosen to not pursue that path because my course of study will be very demanding. However, I do hope to be able to continue playing the sport I love through a college rec or club team. I know that I am going to miss competitive volleyball.

What position do you play in basketball and why does it suit you?
In basketball, I play center for my team.  This position suits me perfectly because of my height and also because of my experience with volleyball. I begin each game at the center court, with the jump ball, vying for that first possession to begin the game, using my vertical jumping abilities. I also am usually able to accumulate several blocked shots per game. My experience with volleyball has helped me to fine tune my shot blocking skills in basketball. I often block shots in basketball with both hands, using the same technique that I use at the net in volleyball. Although I love taking the ball to the basket, defense is my favorite part of the sport. I love to box out and collect rebounds for my team.

What has been your favorite accomplishment in swimming?
Although I have swam competitively since the age of 5, I have only swam on our local rec team, Elkin Wet Lightning, except for one year on my high school team. My high school team went undefeated in conference swim and won our conference championship.  We also finished very well at regionals and competed in the state championship. I won four medals at the conference championship and earned All-Conference honors. However, because swim and basketball are both winter sports in my state, I had to ultimately choose between them the following year.

What have you learned in giving back to teach others to swim?
I love teaching swim lessons and helping youngsters who are new to the sport learn the different strokes. It is very rewarding to see a child’s progress and to literally watch them gain confidence in their skills from day to day. As a lifeguard, I have actually recorded a few saves and it is very gratifying to know that you are helping someone to learn a skill that could literally save their life. I have also learned that most anyone can learn to swim, if they are given the opportunity to learn and the right environment and if they can overcome their fear of the water. The number one rule in teaching someone to swim is that you must first gain their trust.  Once they trust you, they will be comfortable enough to listen and learn. It is fun to watch their excitement as they realize they are getting it and making progress.

Tell us about the CNA program.
I took advantage of the opportunity that my high school offers, in conjunction with our local community college, to take the Certified Nursing Assistant class, which enabled me to take the state administered test to become a CNA last semester. A CNA provides basic patient care and assistance with daily living activities under the supervision of nurses or other healthcare professionals. A CNA helps patients with tasks like bathing, dressing, eating, and moving. They take and record vital signs and document patient changes and report any concerns to a nurse.
And now, this semester, my last semester of high school, I am able to work as an intern at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

What is it and what made you want to complete it so early?
I chose to take advantage of this opportunity because I want to attend college to get my nursing degree and then I hope to be able to pursue a postgraduate program to become a nurse practitioner. This gave me the opportunity to work in my chosen career path before I even begin college, to explore and ensure that this is the path that I want to pursue. It also has given me a source of income to save money for college and I can use it to find part-time work as I go through college. I am very happy that I chose to pursue my CNA certification, as it has helped to ensure that nursing is the career path that I choose.

What do most look forward to during your internship at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation?
I am very much enjoying my work at the Nursing Center. I appreciate all that I am learning. It is hard work and some days are very strenuous. But it is very rewarding to know that you are helping someone to get through their day, whether that is helping them with their daily activities or just to share conversation with them. My favorite part is that I am building relationships with the residents.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I love working with the young children at my church. I assist with children’s church every Sunday and I also work in Vacation Bible School every summer. I love teaching Bible stories and helping the kids with arts and crafts. It is amazing to realize how much a two or three year old can learn through our short little lessons each week. It is very rewarding when a child's face lights up just because they see you and are excited to be in class with you.

How would you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is largely based on my work with children and could be described as participative or democratic. I like to lead by example. In teaching swim, and even in helping with Bible lessons and arts and crafts at church, I like to demonstrate the technique, lesson or assignment and then ask for the child to repeat what has been demonstrated and let them give input and feedback. I am naturally shy and must force myself to be bold in teaching or leading a large group. My favorite teaching is one on one, or in small groups.

What has working with young children taught you?
Working with young children definitely teaches you to be patient and to expect anything! You never know what a child will say or how they will react to something. Children can be incredibly resilient and sometimes, even though you don’t think they are paying any attention or listening, they will surprise you by demonstrating that they were indeed listening and learning. You must be willing to repeat yourself often and to be patient when trying to accomplish a skill or activity with children. I always try to be patient and remind myself often that I must be a great role model for the children and that I might be the only example of Jesus' love that child might see that day. Children can be incredibly affectionate and generous with their devotion. It is important to honor their trust in you.

What else would you like to talk about?
I love to hang out with my friends in my spare time. I am excited about graduating from high school, but also realize that means that the time I get to spend with my friends will be drastically different very soon. I have a great circle of friends that has been close since we were little kids in kindergarten and our early elementary years.

What is your friend group like? Where do you fit in and where do you stand out?
My friend group is a great bunch of girls and guys that have been hanging out together for years. We are all very comfortable around one another because we have been friends for so long. My brother, who is one year younger than myself, is a part of my friend group.  Sometimes, my girlfriends will hang out with my brother if I am at work or not available. We all have plans to attend college, and will all be going in separate directions very soon. Although things will be drastically different, I know we will all stay in touch through social media.

What do you and your friends like to do together?
My friend group loves to hang out together at each others’ homes. We also love to play pickleball and meet several times each week at the pickleball courts. We often meet and hang out at a local eatery in our town. We enjoy checking out new restaurants and shopping together.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk with and about my friends forever! We have shared so many good and happy times together! Because we are all going in different directions, that is the one negative thing I dread about college. I know that I will not get to see my friends daily. I know that I’m going to miss them. But, I also know that we will still be in constant contact through social media and will definitely re-connect over breaks and holidays.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I first met Scott Waugh when he came to one of my games at school. Scott is hands-down the best live action photographer I know. It is always fun going through his galleries after he works one of my games to see what action he captured. When doing a shoot, Scott is funny and makes everyone feel comfortable. He always has great new ideas.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I am a senior ambassador for Waugh2Waugh Photography and have enjoyed meeting seniors from different schools through the location shoots.  Although I tend to be a bit shy around new people, it has forced me to step out of my comfort zone. I have enjoyed getting to know others that I might not have had the opportunity to meet otherwise.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Scott and his equally talented wife, Misty have done two media day shootings for my volleyball and basketball teams. Both were a lot of fun for me and my teammates. Misty and Scott took lots of great shots, some serious and some very playful. One of the funniest moments was when he photographed myself and a close friend hanging from the basketball rim.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I would like to be in the magazine just for the experience and fun of doing something I’ve never done before. I am usually very shy and bashful and not one to put myself in a public light. So, why not be brave and do something I’ve never done before?

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I were to win any scholarship money, it would definitely go towards my upcoming college education and the many expenses that will bring. I plan on pursuing a four year degree and then to continue on to obtain a two year postgraduate degree. So, I will have a lot of college expenses to cover.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
Fortunately, I am getting to work in my ideal dream job for this moment in my life! I love that I am able to work as a CNA, making money and gaining valuable experience that will help me as I pursue my nursing degree. Of course, I eventually hope to be able to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in a private office, providing direct patient health care, diagnosing and treating illnesses, prescribing medications, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me in life. They are the ones that have gotten me to all my dance lessons, sporting events, after school activities, church events and anything else that I have been involved with. I know that no matter what I am engaged in, they are my biggest fans. I have three siblings and so they are very busy people. They both work, but somehow manage to always be there for me, never missing any of my sporting events or activities. They have taught me that hard work always pays off but also have always let me know that it is okay to fail. They have instilled in me the importance of spirituality, community service and giving to others. I know that I would not be where I am today without them.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
My favorite place to be is outside, soaking up the sun! Whether hanging out by the pool, or simply walking my dog through our neighborhood, I love being outside in the fresh air, especially in the spring and summer, when it is warm and sunny outside. I love this time of year, when things begin to bloom and the earth seems to re-awaken.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
Right now, I am in the midst of making final decisions regarding where I will attend college in the fall. I have been accepted to all six schools to which I have applied and am now visiting all of those college campuses as I try to figure out which school is the best fit for me. I am visiting schools that are literally from one end of our state to the other, from the coast to the mountains. This is exciting, yet a bit daunting, as it feels like such a major decision. But I know that no matter where I land, things will fall into place and that I will always have my family to support me.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
The hardest thing that I have ever accomplished is overcoming dyslexia. I was diagnosed at a very early age and my lower elementary school years were very trying when it came to academic school work. Thankfully, I had a great teacher who recognized my disability and attentive and supportive parents who ensured that I got the help that I needed to overcome dyslexia. My parents enrolled me in a rigorous course where I had extra homework to do daily and a weekly one on one session with a specialist. It was a very painful time because I did not understand why I was different from some of my friends and peers and I could not understand why reading was so difficult. I definitely did not like the fact that I had extra homework to do daily. There were many days where my parents had to push me though. But, after about three years of very hard work, I had the tools that I needed to overcome dyslexia. I still struggle with confidence with my academics, but I have learned that with hard work and determination, I can accomplish most anything.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Just always be true to yourself. When and if you face difficulties, keep on keeping on. Be determined and don't let problems derail your goals.

Tell us about your football career. When did you get started and where are you at with it now?
I started playing football when I was 8, and I got inspired by watching my favorite team which was the Dallas cowboys. Over the years, I've played as wide receiver, defensive back, kick returner and I developed skills like speed and teamwork.

What position do you play and how does it suit you?
I play wide receiver, defensive back, kick returner, which requires speed, endurance and strength. My strengths are wide receiver and kick returner, which makes me well suited for this role because my speed and agility help me break away from the defenders.

What is a favorite memory with your football team?
My favorite memory with my team is after the district wins, we would celebrate and talk about the plays and touchdowns that happened.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk forever about his track. It's more than just a sport to me, It's a passion that pushes me to be faster and more disciplined. Track has taught me mental toughness and the importance of hard work.

What do you love most about track?
What I love most about track is the constant challenge to improve. It’s a sport where hard work translates into the results, and I love pushing my limits. Whether it's beating my personal record or outpacing competitors.

What is your favorite accomplishment from running?
My favorite accomplishment was when I went to state my sophomore year in track for the mile relay. I proved to myself that I could push past my limits.

What advice about mental toughness would you give to someone who you see struggling?
Mental toughness is about discipline and mindset. If someone was struggling I’d tell them: Remember your ‘Why’, when things get tough, remind yourself why you started.

What else would you like to talk about?
I'm deeply interested in showing my livestock. I love using my experiences to help others grow, whether it's giving them advice or helping them be the best they can. I also want to make a positive impact in the show industry.

How did you get into showing animals?
I got into showing animals when I saw my cousins doing it. It made me want to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

What have you learned about showing animals that you think most people might not know?
I’ve learned that It’s about the connection, Not just control. Successful showing isn’t just about making an animal behave; it’s about building trust and communication with your animal. Animals pick up your energy and your emotions, so staying calm is key.

What do you and your friends like to do for fun?
What me and my friends like to do for fun is put sound systems in our vehicle. It teaches us how to build teamwork and it builds a brotherly bond.

What is a family tradition you hope never ends?
A family tradition I hope never ends would have to be secret Santa. It’s my favorite tradition because it brings my family together.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
One inspiring thing about me is that no matter what challenges I face. I will always strive for success and push forward with determination and a positive attitude. I will not only worry about my success but I will also uplift the people around me.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
We found Lily when she was taking my older sister's senior pictures. The experience was amazing and the pictures came out amazing. Ever since that day Lily took some pictures of me during football and track season and they were amazing. Till this day Lily takes my pictures for all the school activities I'm involved in. What I love most about Lily is that she always makes the photo shoot fun and memorable.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
Yes, I'm part of a model team with my photographer, and it's been an incredible experience. It’s been amazing to see how much I've grown in front of the camera.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
At first, being nominated by Lily made me a little nervous. However, after spending months taking pictures with Lily, I've grown more confident and grateful for this experience. Now, I feel nominated and blessed that I got picked.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in the Inspiring Teens Magazine to share my passion for track and the lessons it has taught me about discipline and growth. I hope my journey can motivate other people to pursue their dreams no matter the challenges they face.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win the scholarship, I would use it to help pay for my education and training in welding.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My ideal dream job would be to become a welder. I fell in love with welding when I took the class my sophomore year and I still love it till this day.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Yes, I would like to thank everyone that has always believed in me since I was little to where I am to this day. My Mom and Dad for always being there for me. I also would like to thank Joe Buentello for always helping me and my family.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I would like to say that I am very thankful for this opportunity.

What has dance taught you?
Dance has taught me the importance of continuous growth and learning. It has also helped me develop my leadership skills, as I was always inspired by my captains. This sport has shown me that hard work pays off in the end and has taught me to keep pushing forward, even when exhausted.

What about dance do you think non-dancers might not know?
Dance is an incredibly challenging sport, especially in competitive dance teams. Our job is to make it look effortless, but it requires a lot of strength, precision, and synchronization. It is also mentally demanding, as we constantly push ourselves past our limits while maintaining strong performance quality.

What are your roles and responsibilities on the dance team? How would you describe yourself as a leader?
As a high school dance team captain, I am responsible for inspiring, motivating, and holding my team accountable. I ensure that we are all performing at our best, both on and off the dance floor. I hold myself to high personal standards, leading by example rather than just by title.

What made you decide to start a baking business, and how did you get it started?
I have always enjoyed baking since I was a kid, but I never realized how skilled I could become. When I started fundraising for my dance trip to Hawaii, I learned how to make chocolate covered strawberries, which everyone loved. From there, I expanded into a small business on Instagram, selling cakes, cupcakes, and chocolate covered strawberries.

What was the hardest part about getting started versus the easiest?
The hardest part was putting myself out there and accepting that people would judge my work as a beginner. The easiest part was receiving support from my family and friends, who helped spread the word about my business.

How would you describe yourself as a leader?
I am a supportive leader who ensures everyone feels heard. I prioritize making sure my team understands what’s happening and how to keep pushing forward.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer through a giveaway she hosted on Instagram. She was an amazing person to work with and made me feel comfortable and confident. I loved how she encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, and the photos she took were incredible.

Are you part of a model team with your photographer? If so, tell us about it.
Yes, I am part of her senior model team, which allows me to participate in fun and creative photoshoots. It has been an incredible opportunity that I am so grateful for.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Being a pastry baker was my first dream career; however, I have found a new interest in real estate. I want to be a successful real estate agent by the time I turn 20.

I am currently taking college classes while still in high school and am on the path to graduate with my Associate of Arts degree. This spring I should receive my AA from Walla Walla Community College and simultaneously receive my high school diploma from Walla Walla High School which I've maintained 3.5 GPA or above.

What else would you like to talk about?
My culture is a large part of who I am today. I am a proud Latina who strives to be academically successful as a first-generation.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about standing up for what's right. I believe in fairness, respect and making sure everyone is treated equally. Whether it's speaking up for a cause I believe in or encouraging others to do the right thing. I believe an act of kindness can change a person's day even a small compliment.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer through a giveaway she was doing on Instagram. She was a lovely person to work with and made me feel comfortable and confident in myself. I loved how she helped me step out of my comfort zone and had amazing photos that I loved.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory with Sydney my photographer was taking photos downtown in freezing weather. We both were bundled up and walking around looking for the perfect shot for an hour and a half. It all paid off as the photos were amazing, but by the end both of our fingers were numb, but we had a great time.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine to inspire other minorities that may see this. Representation is important because it shows that success is possible for anyone no matter their background. As a child of an immigrant, I can understand some challenges that come with building a future while balancing cultural expectations and personal goals. I hope to encourage young people to keep pushing for their goals.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I were to win the scholarship money I would use it for my education in real estate. This would help me gain more knowledge and experience in the real estate field.

Photography by Brooklynn Wheelock Photography

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Honestly, I could talk about rodeo and cows a lot! However, my focus right now is to figure out what I want to do for a career so I talk a lot about that and my options.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
I would love to be a stock contractor.

How did you get into showing steers and Santa Gertrudis heifers?
I started showing steers and heifers because my mom showed and my family raises Santa Gertrudis cattle.

What do you need to do to prepare for that?
I have to pick out a good show heifer/steer and then halter break them and work with them daily in order to get them ready for the show ring.

What does training for steer wrestling involve?
I have to practice the proper technique to get the steer stopped, turned and thrown down.

What's next for you in this circuit?
Hopefully, the end of year finals.

What are your roles and responsibilities serving as the District One Director for the National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association?
As a director, I attend major stock shows and work the ring to help facilitate the running of the show. I help with meetings and retreats and work all of contests at our national show.

How would you describe your leadership style?
I like to lead by example. I prefer to show others how to do things rather than just tell them how to do it.

What has being a member of the NRS Show team taught you?
Being a member of the NRS Show Team has taught me how to use social media properly to promote myself and my sponsors.

What is your favorite accomplishment from this endeavor?
I just love to help the younger kids in the ring and to be the example for them that the older kids were for me when I was younger.

What do you love most about your senior year?
1/2 days! I am in a coop class, so I only go to school from 9 to noon and I get to go home and work with all of my animals.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind?
I just want others to know that you overcome anything with a positive attitude and hard work.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I overcame extreme odds to survive when I was born prematurely at 28 weeks, weighing only 2 lbs 6 oz and spending 4 1/2 months in the NICU. I have adapted and overcome cerebellar hypoplasia, which has affected my balance and ability to walk. I want others to know that you can achieve many things with grit and determination!

What else would you like to talk about?
Having the right attitude in life is everything. I never compare myself to others because all that matters is that I am living my life the best that I can. If there is something that I want to achieve, I know that I just have to work harder.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I know Brooklynn from showing cattle. She grew up in a nearby town and we saw each other at many cattle shows.

What is a favorite memory with the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory is just how she made me laugh during the session so she could capture a genuine smile for my mom in these photos!

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in this magazine to show others that you can have a rough start to life and still grow up to be a leader and successful while doing things you enjoy.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I would use the scholarship to attend North Central Texas College where I will be attending school in the fall. I plan to obtain an associate's degree and try out a variety of trade classes to see what interests me and what I like.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
My family.

Klaudya García

Klaudya García – Texas
Nomination by Tatyana Rodriguez
Photography by Vaughandora Images
Issue 89 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Klaudya is one of the most hardworking and inspiring person I know. As a high school senior, she’s been crushing her college courses and soon will graduate with not only her diploma but an associate’s degree as well. On top of that, she’s involved in extracurriculars, works part-time, and even started her own business at the age of 16 selling eternal roses. Somehow, she balances it all while staying motivated and pushing herself every day. She’s proof that with determination and hard work, you can do anything, and I couldn’t be more proud of her.

Photography by Vaughandora Images

What is your schedule like to complete both high school and your associate's degree at the same time?
The scheduling for completing both my high school classes and college courses was very complex. It took so many hours of hard work and staying focused. It required tons of time management and keeping everything organized, despite how stressful it was. Even throughout these times, I was still participating in extracurriculars and my small business.

What is your favorite class and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
My favorite class is easily the psychology course I took during my sophomore year. I am a firm believer that this class sparked my interest in psychology itself. The most interesting thing I learned throughout the course was that people tend to reciprocate the emotions of the people who may be nearby.

What will your associate's degree be in and where do you plan on going from there?
My associate’s degree will be in General Studies from Southwest Texas College. This degree was aimed directly at my core courses. Going forward, I will be transferring to Texas State University, where I will be aiming for my PsyD in Psychology with a minor in Human Development & Family Sciences.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My ideal dream job would be to have my own practice of clinical counseling while also running a business competition dance for my small town. These two subjects mean the most to me, and it is something I have dreamed of for years.

What extracurriculars are you involved in?
These past 7 years, I have participated in multiple extracurricular activities. Throughout all four years of high school, I have held a leadership position in my school’s Marching/Concert Band; this past semester, I served as a Drum Major. I also held the position of Varsity Cheer Captain for my school’s cheer squad. Finally, I hold the position of Secretary for my school’s National Honor Society Chapter. In addition to those programs, I am also involved in volleyball, tennis, Mariachi, one-act plays, student council, and Rotary Club.

Which is your favorite and why?
This is a pretty difficult question to answer. My favorite activity would be in between Cheerleading and National Honor Society. My reasoning to this is because I love leading activities and pushing people to get out of their comfort zone, in hopes to bringing more school spirit. With that being said, I also enjoy giving back to the community during Honor Society and having the opportunity to hold drives and fundraisers or activities for citizens in the community.

What have you learned about yourself at your part-time job?
At my part-time job, I have learned that I can handle stressful situations cordially. With this being my first job, learning how to waitress and understand the “behind the scenes” of a restaurant was a big task in itself; but having a full restaurant of tables and having to know when to check on someone, and how to handle an unhappy customer was also a big part of it.

What led you to start selling Eternal Flower Bouquets at 16?
I began selling Eternal Flower Bouquets in October of 2023. It was homecoming season around this time, so when I saw one example on TikTok, I knew it was something I wanted to act fast on. The concept of these bouquets is to have flowers that never wilt away, making them last forever, holding the memories with the person who gifted them to you.

What is the most rewarding part of owning your own business?
The most rewarding part of owning my own business was seeing the customers satisfied and eager to order from me. Not only that, but I was so exciting seeing other young teens inspired by my works and began a small business of their own.

How do you keep everything on top of your plate?
Knowing how to manage my time is probably the most crucial skill I had to learn in order to stay on top of everything. Going into high school, I knew that I was going to have a tight schedule circulating around extracurriculars, college courses, owning a business, and working at my part-time waitressing job. With this being said, I knew that prepping before the week started, staying on top of deadlines, and planning everything I can was everything I knew I could do in order to handle it all.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Another inspiring factor that has not been mentioned would be my love for giving back and helping my community. I've been an altar server and lector at my church. Last year, with the assistance of my family, I held a Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway to 100 community members. I also volunteer for food drives and any community event that needs assistance. In my small town, everyone is family; we care for each other and help others in need.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am incredibly passionate about the art and storytelling of music. Since childhood, I have always had an ear for music, whether classic instrumental or modern-day R&B. It seems so fascinating how someone can have an idea in their mind, like a story, and bring it into real life with beats and rhythms, all while adding in emotion and connecting to the audience. I know it is a common subject to understand, but it is a subject that goes unrecognized.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my fantastic photographer from other friends in my small hometown who were a part of her senior model team last year. My experience so far has been amazing. She is highly energetic and is willing to do anything for her team. When she has an image in mind, she can truly bring it to reality. Before joining her team, I was slightly shy, but now I consider myself much more outgoing and impactful. She is not only a photographer but a storyteller. Her talents go beyond, and her photos say so for themselves.

What else would you like to talk about?
I would like to thank my Mom and Photographer, Mrs. Roxann. I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity. Since beginning with Roxann's senior team, my motive has been to use this platform to spread awareness of body positivity and treating people with kindness. Everyone deserves to feel loved, wanted, and cared for.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My sister, Tatyana Rodriguez, nominated me. She has consistently been one of my strongest supporters, an inspiration, and a role model due to her unwavering work ethic and independence. Her actions speak volumes by demonstrating the true meaning of leadership. She is the definition of a strong woman. It is hard to choose one specific memory with her because I love to cherish each and every moment with her. She is my best friend who is always by my side.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
My primary reason for wanting to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine was to bring attention to other teens and/or children who may suffer from bullying. Growing up, from elementary to middle school, I was bullied for the way I looked and acted. It was not easy going through this at such a young age. I had my parent's support, but I wanted to be independent. I want to use this opportunity to let the audience know that they are not alone and they are strong and worthy of so many things.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
Winning a scholarship would help my family and me afford some costs at college a lot more efficiently. I recently noticed that I don't qualify for much assistance from student aid, so gaining any money possible will be the greatest help. Speaking more straightforwardly, the funds would go directly to my tuition and, hopefully, any textbooks or necessities.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I am also extremely thankful for the family, friends, and community that have voted or donated to help me get to where I am today in this contest. I am also extremely thankful for this opportunity that I have been given; I solely believe this wouldn’t be possible without my amazing photographer, Roxann, and my mother, Emma Garcia.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I would like to dedicate this section to my FABULOUS Mom. She is one of the strongest and most hardworking women I know. She has supported me in this journey of photography modeling since the moment I decided to take the chance at it. I thank her and the rest of my family for everything they have ever done for me to help me become the person I am today.

Photography by Creative Touch Photography

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I am currently involved in Tennis, and track. This is my first year to play Tennis, and I am loving it so far!

What is something your nomination doesn’t mention?
One inspiring thing not mentioned in my nomination is my dedication to self-improvement. I'm always looking for ways to grow, whether it’s through setting personal goals or learning new skills. I’ve faced obstacles, but I’ve learned to turn them into opportunities for growth. I enjoy motivating my friends to step outside their comfort zones and try new things, whether that’s joining a club or tackling a tough subject in school. I believe that every experience, good or bad, helps us become stronger. I’m all about pushing boundaries and inspiring others to do the same!

What else would you like to talk about?
After being crowned homecoming queen, I faced unexpected adversity that tested my strength and resilience. While I was thrilled to receive this honor, I quickly discovered who my true friends were. Some reacted with jealousy, and I encountered hurtful gossip that made me question my friendships. Instead of letting it bring me down, I chose to confront these challenges head-on. This experience taught me valuable character-building traits, such as perseverance and empathy. I learned that friendship is about support and loyalty. I emerged from this difficult time stronger and more resilient, ready to tackle any challenge that comes my way!

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Family means everything to me, and my passion for them runs deep. They are my biggest supporters, always cheering me on through every challenge and celebrating my achievements, no matter how small. I cherish all of our time together. Each family member brings something unique to the table, and their love inspires me to be my best self. I believe that strong family bonds create a solid foundation for happiness and growth, and I am grateful every day for the love and connection we share. Family is my greatest treasure.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer through social media, and I couldn’t be happier! Working with her was a fantastic experience. She really allows me to be myself and encourages me to express my creativity. I love how she embraces my ideas and is always willing to explore new concepts. I genuinely appreciate how comfortable she makes me feel in front of the camera. The best part was seeing how she captured my personality in every shot. Plus, her little girl, Briella, always adds a fun twist to the photoshoots, making the atmosphere even more enjoyable and entertaining!

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I am part of a model team with Creative Touch Photography. I had to fill out an application, and got chosen to help advertise the photographer’s work. This team consists of 5 girls, each bringing in their own personalities. Our photographer sits each girl down and asks how they would like to express themselves in a fun, outgoing way! We take group pictures once a month, along with individuals to show present or upcoming seniors what all she can offer for Senior portraits. She listens to our ideas and makes them come to life. I know she thinks I am crazy all of my ideas are always off the wall, but you can see how great she is by the pictures I have submitted!

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My mom is the one who nominated me for this incredible opportunity, and I can’t thank her enough! Every day we spend together is packed with laughter and unforgettable memories. We hang out a lot, creating special moments that I’ll always hold dear. Her support means everything to me, and I feel so lucky to have her cheering me on throughout this entire journey!

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because it’s such a cool platform that highlights the stories and achievements of young people. Being featured would give me a chance to share my journey and hopefully inspire others while connecting with other teens who are all about making a difference. I believe my experiences—both the ups and downs—can really resonate with others and encourage them to chase their dreams.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I plan to use the money to attend the University of South Alabama after graduation. I’m currently undecided about my major, but I’m excited about the opportunities that college will bring. This scholarship would help alleviate some financial stress, allowing me to focus more on my studies and explore different fields that interest me. I look forward to meeting new people, experiencing campus life, and discovering my passions during this incredible journey!

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?

Photography by Juju Social Photography

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
One thing I could talk about forever is helping people with their needs. It feels so rewarding and that’s why I wanted to become an esthetician in the first place. Helping people with feeling more confident, their skincare and addressing skin concerns is something I can go on about forever. It allows me to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Why do you want to become an esthetician?
I have always been interested in skin, makeup, eyebrows, lashes, etc so once I found out about this I’ve always wanted to do it. I also think it is important for women to have self confidence and my goal is to help them with that.

What about owning your own business appeals to you?
I feel like being independent is the best thing about my own business. I am my own boss and have the freedom to do whatever I feel with the business. As well as building something from the ground and watching it grow is always going to be amazing.

What steps are you taking now to reach this goal?
I started saving now and investing so when I start my business I will have what I need.

What is the most interesting thing you've done in the past 30 days?
I just got my first tattoo

Tell us about your softball career.
I have played softball ever since I was 5 years old. I have always loved softball and have played it ever since then. I played for 4 different travel teams and also for my highschool. I lettered in varsity softball every year in high school and we made it to state each year. I am officially done with my softball career, I just completed my final high school season.

What do you love most about the sport?
The friendships and the people I have met each year. I have met so many friends playing this sport and I am so grateful for these friendships.

What position do you play and why does it suit you?
I play outfield. I have rotated all positions in the outfield but I mainly play left field. I have always liked playing outfield instead of infield. I never really liked infield so whenever I played outfield it just clicked.

What is your favorite thing about going to school?
I would say getting to see all of my friends and my favorite teachers. Getting to see people like that always makes the day better.

What is your favorite subject this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
I am not really a math person but this year my favorite class is financial algebra. This subject teaches you all things you need to know about life outside of high school. I have already learned about credit cards, banking, housing, purchasing a car, investing, etc. I would say investing was the most interesting thing and I was really interested in that.

What has being a server taught you?
It has taught me how to be patient and how to multitask. I have learned many things but those are the 2 that stick out the most.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?

Another inspiring thing about me is how I never give up, even if it’s difficult. I’ve learned to push through the hard parts because it leads to success and personal growth. I always try to keep a positive mindset and stay on the right path to achieve my goals.

What advice would you give to someone struggling with self-discipline?
Some advice I would give is to use a planner and have a routine to keep you on track. I would also recommend setting small achievable goals so you can feel accomplished.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?

I found my photographer from a group of my friends at school. I looked at her instagram page, loved her pictures and booked right away. The experience was great-she is very nice and made me feel comfortable right away! We took many pictures and she put on some music that I like to get me more comfortable in the pictures and it worked. I loved how I was outdoors and I got to put my feet in the water and take pictures by the bridge.

What are your favorite thoughts of the person who nominated you?

My mom is the person who nominated me, She is the one who inspires me to be a better person each day. She does so much for me and I couldn’t ask for a better mom. I love her and I am very thankful for her.

What else would you like to talk about?

I am happy to be nominated and to have this opportunity for Inspiring Teens Magazine.

Issue 89 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Emma Grace is full of energy and curiosity. She approaches each day with determination and wonder. With her bright future ahead of her and endless possibilities, she is destined for greatness and ready to make a significant impact on the world. As the 2024-2025 varsity cheer captain and a two-time UCA All-American cheerleader, she excels in everything she does. A member of the National Beta Club and National Technical Honor Society, Emma Grace plans to attend Jacksonville State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Investigation and work in law enforcement to make a difference.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
During my senior year, I had the honor of being the varsity cheer captain, leading my team to earn a bid to the state competition. This experience taught me invaluable leadership and teamwork skills. As a dedicated member of the National Beta Club, I contributed many hours to community service, participating in projects that positively impacted our local area. Additionally, I spent three summers working as a lifeguard at a local water park, where I developed a strong work ethic and excellent customer service skills. These diverse experiences have prepared me to face future challenges and make meaningful contributions to my community and beyond.

What else would you like to talk about?
The importance of teaching youth the difference between right and wrong is crucial for their development and future success. Instilling the values of hard work and dedication helps them understand that achievements are earned through effort and persistence. Emphasizing respectfulness and the importance of earning what they want fosters a sense of responsibility and integrity. By being a role model and setting high standards, we can inspire young people to strive for excellence and positively influence those around them. These lessons lay the foundation for a well-rounded, ethical, and motivated generation.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I'm passionate about pursuing a degree at JSU to help solve crimes and become an important member of society. Solving crimes and investigating why people act as they do is imperative, and providing mental health and other resources to individuals to help stop violence. Being bullied throughout elementary school set me on a path that shaped who I am today and influenced my decisions. This experience fuels my dedication to understanding criminal behavior and working towards a safer community. I believe that by addressing the root causes of violence, we can make a significant impact and create a more just and compassionate society.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
Becoming a senior model for Yellowhammer Photography has been an incredible experience. I've met new people and made friends with girls from other schools and areas around the county. Traveling to different local spots for photo shoots has allowed me to experience new things and see places I might not have visited otherwise. I've enjoyed every moment and opportunity that came my way, cherishing the memories and friendships I've made along the journey. This experience has truly enriched my life, and I'm grateful for all the wonderful moments it has brought me.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory with my dad and mom is them being there for every event and milestone in my life. They have always been my biggest supporters and my greatest sources of love. They help me in every way possible, always wanting the best for me and encouraging me to reach my full potential. I wouldn't be the person I am today without their guidance and unwavering support. Their constant love and belief in me have shaped who I am, and I am forever grateful for everything they do to help me succeed and be happy.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teen Magazine to share my passion for making a difference in the world. Being featured would be an honor and an incredible opportunity to inspire other teens to pursue their dreams, no matter how challenging they may seem. This platform would allow me to highlight the importance of dedication, education, and perseverance in achieving one's goals. Winning a scholarship through this magazine would be a life-changing step toward my ambition of solving crimes and ensuring justice in my community.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
Winning a scholarship from Inspiring Teen Magazine to help me attend Jacksonville State University for a bachelor's degree in forensic investigations would be amazing. This opportunity would provide the education and skills needed for a career in law enforcement. JSU's comprehensive curriculum and hands-on experience would prepare me for the challenges in forensic investigations. With this degree, I aim to solve crimes and ensure justice, making a positive impact in my community. This scholarship would be a crucial step toward achieving my professional goals and making a real difference.

Give us an example of your dedication. What is something you have given your everything to?
I have poured my heart and soul into cheerleading since I was little. I trained every single day, staying late to perfect my skills and push myself further. It wasn’t just about the sport—it was about growing, challenging myself, and sharing unforgettable moments with my teammates.

What are your strongest leadership qualities?
My strongest leadership qualities are my ability to think quickly under pressure and find solutions in tough situations. I also love helping and encouraging others, making sure everyone feels supported and confident in their abilities.

What have you learned about yourself in your resilience?
I’ve learned that progress takes time and patience. If I don’t master something immediately, I don’t let it discourage me—I know that if I keep working at it, I’ll achieve it the next day, or the day after that.

Tell us more about your cheer career.
I started cheering when I was five years old with a team called the Wangerletts. From that very first experience, I knew cheerleading was my passion. I cheered from age five all the way to eighteen, and now, as I reflect on my journey, I am so grateful for the incredible experiences and friendships it brought me.

What is a favorite memory as an All-American Cheerleader?
One of my favorite moments was being recognized for my talent by people I had looked up to for so long. It gave me a newfound confidence and belief in myself, showing me that I was capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.

What did it mean to you to be a UCA nominee?
Being a UCA nominee was an incredible honor. It wasn’t just about my passion for cheer—it also meant that my hard work, dedication, and natural ability were being recognized at a higher level.

How do you balance all your activities with your strong GPA?
School has always been my top priority because I know that education is the foundation for my future. Even on my busiest days, I made sure to manage my time wisely, balancing my academic responsibilities with my cheer commitments.

What do you love most about volunteering with the La Porte Girls Softball Association?
I love the sense of community and the bonds I’ve built with the young girls. It’s incredibly rewarding when they tell me they look up to me—I hope to inspire them the way my own role models inspired me.

Tell us about your time as a contestant for Miss Sylvan Beach 2025?
Competing in the Miss Sylvan Beach pageant has taught me so much about confidence, thinking on my feet, and time management. But more than that, it brought me together with an amazing group of girls and showed me that sisterhood can be found in so many different ways.

What surprised you most in this endeavor?
The biggest surprise was realizing that I could maintain a 4.0+ GPA while balancing cheer, pageants, and volunteering. It showed me that with determination and discipline, I can accomplish more than I ever thought possible.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
One of my biggest goals is to go straight into college after high school to pursue my teaching degree and, eventually, my Ph.D. I have always wanted to be a teacher. Since I was young, I’ve dreamed of shaping the next generation—not just through academics, but by being a mentor who listens, shows kindness, and provides love and encouragement. I want to be the person who makes students feel valued and supported, no matter what they may be facing.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
I would love to be a marine biologist! I want to inspire young girls to chase their dreams and show them that even the most challenging careers can be conquered with passion and hard work.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am incredibly passionate about ocean conservation. Even small efforts to protect marine life can make a huge difference, and I could talk forever about how saving even a small part of the ocean can create a ripple effect that benefits the entire planet.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer, Ginny, on Facebook when she was looking for senior representatives. My first session with her was amazing—she made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to be my authentic self. What I love most is how we instantly clicked and share the same interests!

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
During my first photo shoot, we planned to take pictures in a vinyl record store, but I thought it would be fun to do some in a toy store too. This showed me how flexible and creative my photographer is—she made every setting look incredible, no matter the lighting or background.

Are you part of a model team with your photographer?
Yes, I am! It’s such a fun experience—I’ve made so many amazing friends and discovered beautiful, unexpected locations for shoots that most people wouldn’t even notice.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in the magazine because I believe my story could encourage someone to step out of their comfort zone and embrace who they truly are. I want to remind people that they are perfect and beautiful just the way they are.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I would put the scholarship toward my college textbooks so I can continue learning and working toward my Ph.D.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me with my family. They are the most important and beautiful gift God has given me, and I cherish every moment with them.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I am so excited to start college and embark on a new chapter in my life. I can’t wait to work with kids and make a positive impact on their lives, helping them grow into kind and confident individuals.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
One of the hardest things I’ve overcome is learning to truly love and embrace who I am. I surrounded myself with positivity, read my Bible when I felt down, and kept sticky notes around my room as daily reminders to believe in myself.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
I would tell them to love themselves first. Self-love builds confidence, and when you believe in yourself, you naturally push yourself toward success.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What are your plans?
In five years, I see myself teaching biology and continuing to grow in my faith. I also hope to have a beautiful family and a deeper relationship with God.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
I love doing hair! It brings me so much joy, and I find it to be a great creative outlet.

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
My hidden talent is that I’m super flexible—almost like a Barbie doll!

Three Things on Your Bucket List:
• Travel the world
• Work as a marine biologist in Antarctica
• Become a cheer coach down the road

Who do you find inspiring?
My Nana. She has shown me that no matter how difficult things get, if you believe in yourself and have a strong support system, you can achieve anything.

What about you inspires others? Why do you think you are inspiring?
I always try to stay positive, no matter what. Even on my hardest days, I wear a smile because I know that better things are ahead. I think I inspire others—especially young girls—by showing them that confidence, kindness, and perseverance can take them anywhere in life.

What do you love most about coffee and what is your go-to mixture?
Coffee always brightens my day. It’s also always a fun experience to go and get some with my friends. I am always trying new kinds of coffee, but I would say my go-to is the iced brown sugar shaken espresso at starbucks.

Tell us about the coolest thing you have ever found thrifting.
I have found so many cool things thrifting, but one thing that sticks out to me is my vintage 1992 U.S.A. basketball “Dream Team” sweatshirt.

What genre of music do you listen to most and what is your favorite song right now?
I like all genres of music but I would have to say pop music is what I listen to the most. My favorite song is “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga.

How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as being casual and fun but also fashion-forward. I like to take risks with my outfits and wear things that might not be everyone’s, but that is the fun part about fashion to me. As long as I feel comfortable and happy with what I have on then it doesn't really matter to me what others think. At the same time, I know how to dress up when the occasion calls for it.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Throughout my life, I have balanced academics, sports, and leadership roles, proving that ambition and perseverance can overcome obstacles. As a student council member and Leo Club president, I have learned the power of leadership and giving back. My passion for the entertainment industry drives me to work towards a profession where I will be shaping the industry in a meaningful way. I hope to inspire others to chase their dreams, no matter their circumstances. Hard work and resilience have brought me far in life and I am excited for what the future holds.

What is the most interesting thing you've worked on as a student council member?
I really enjoyed helping the student council set up a haunted trail at a local park, even though I was sadly unable to stay and help scare the customers.

What is Leo Club and what are your roles and responsibilities as president?
Leo Club is a service-based organization at my school. We perform different types of community service such as highway cleanups, volunteering at animal shelters, and making Valentine’s Day cards for senior citizens. As president, I play a large role in coming up with ideas and organizing the events that we help at.

How would you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is a balance of approachability and decisiveness. I create an open and supportive environment where others feel comfortable asking me questions and sharing their opinions with me. I also lead with confidence and trust myself to make the right decisions. I know that if others disagree with my decisions, they will feel comfortable letting me know. I am also always willing to lend a helping hand to those around me.

Tell us about your passion for the entertainment industry.
I am passionate about pursuing a career in the entertainment industry because of the power of media to connect and inspire people. Whether through film, television, or another creative avenue, I hope to contribute to an industry that shapes culture and promotes diverse voices.

How do you hope to shape it in a meaningful way?
I hope to shape the entertainment industry by contributing to meaningful, impactful storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences. Whether through film, television, or other media, I want to help people create stories that inspire, challenge perspectives, and bring people together. There are a few avenues I have in mind to achieve this goal. I either want to go to law school after receiving my undergraduate degree to become an entertainment lawyer, or I will use my undergraduate degree to get into the world of cinema production.

What are your next steps to achieve this goal?
I am planning on attending the University of Southern California to help me fulfill my dream. I believe that this prestigious university, located in the entertainment capital of the world, is the perfect place to further my education.

What are you most excited about to learn at USC?
I am most excited to be a part of the world-renowned USC school of cinematic arts. My major is called “Business of Cinematic Arts” and I will be taking courses from the cinema school as well as USC’s Marshall School of Business. One class I will be taking is “Producing and Marketing Feature Length Films” which sounds so interesting to me.

Other than learning, what are you looking forward to doing there?
I am so excited to have access to all the wonderful things that Los Angeles has to offer. There will be so many great opportunities for internships. I cannot wait to be living by the beach and being able to learn how to surf. I also plan to study abroad at some point during my time at USC.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
If I were offered my dream job today, I would definitely be an actor. I have always imagined myself playing the roles in the movies and television shows I watch, fully immersing myself in different characters and stories. I also would love the excitement, fame, and attention that comes with being an actor. Even though it is not what I am going to college for, it is a dream that I have always had.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk about movies and pop culture forever. Whether it’s analyzing a film’s deeper meaning, debating the best performances, or just quoting my favorite lines, I love how entertainment brings people together. Movies have the power to make us feel and escape into different worlds. I am a fan of all movie genres, but I have to say that horror is my favorite. From iconic films like Scream to recent box-office hits such as Wicked, I am always up for a discussion.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
My photographer, Caitlyn Burson, happens to be my cousin, who I have admired since I was little. Having my pictures taken by her was such a meaningful experience. She was incredibly open to my ideas and truly brought my visions to life. What I loved most was how comfortable she made me feel through the process. She helped me express myself authentically, and that made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I am a part of Caitlyn Burson’s senior rep team. I actually was not originally a part of her team for this school year, but after seeing the first photo shoot that she did with the rest of the team, I knew that I had to join, and thankfully she let me. She has been great with giving us priority scheduling and bringing our visions to life. I also really enjoy the group photo shoots that we do as a team.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Caitlyn is my cousin, and we have shared many wonderful moments together at various family gatherings. However, the memories I cherish most are the ones we have had during our one-on-one photo shoots. These moments have allowed us to really bond and get to know each other better. We have always had such a great time laughing and sharing stories. These small, personal moments with her mean so much to me.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I believe that sharing my stories can inspire others to pursue their passions, no matter the obstacles. I have balanced academics, sports, and leadership roles while pursuing my dream in the entertainment industry. I hope my journey shows that hard work, resilience, and staying true to yourself can help to achieve your goals. I want others to know that with determination and the right mindset, anything is possible.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to help further my education at the University of Southern California. Attending USC is a major step towards achieving my dreams, while it is a significant investment, I am determined to make it work. This scholarship would play an important role in easing the financial burden and allowing me to focus on my studies and future career. I am excited to take this next step toward making my dreams a reality.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me and providing me with everything I need to chase my dreams. I am incredibly grateful for my two older sisters, who have shaped me into the person I am today. I am also grateful for my amazing friends, who always cheer me on and brighten my day. Without these people I would not be where I am today.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Inspiring Teens Magazine and to everyone who casts a vote my way!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
I would tell them how important it is to believe in yourself and surround yourself with people who support you. Also I would say to work hard and do not be afraid to take risks.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
Reading has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was very little. I love getting lost in a good book.

3 Things on your bucket list
I want to visit Europe, learn how to surf, and learn another language.

Who do you find inspiring?
My two older sisters have always been my biggest inspirations. I have always looked up to them, and I think most of who I am comes from various aspects of them.

What has been your favorite way to serve your community through the National Honor Society?
My absolute favorite way to give back to my community through National Honors Society is through our K4K service project. I am the head of the K4K committee and am so thankful for the experiences and opportunities that this service project has brought me. Through K4K we package bags of food for kids to take home on the weekends when we don’t have school. This is such a neat service project to work for, helping the kids from elementary, middle, and high school.

What service project do you spend the most time on and why is it important to you?
The service project that I spend most of time on is giving back to the school who has supported me and gave me an adequate education. Through National Honors Society we have to get 20 school hours and 20 community hours through these services we are able to give back to the community and the school. I work mostly concession stands and gates at the basketball, volleyball, football, and soccer games.

What do you love most about being part of the Technical National Honor Society?
Being a part of the National Technical Honors Society I am very grateful for the experience that this group has brought me. I am able to gain leadership and team work skills from the people who have the same interest as me. Through my law and public safety class at my vocational school I have gained entry into the National Technical Honors Society and am very hopeful for the experiences to come from the rest of the year.

What position do you play in softball and why does it suit you?
In softball I play 3rd base and this spot suits me as I have a strong arm for long throws, have good communications throughout the whole game while maintaining a mental toughness,, and have excellent hand-eye coordination.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am very passionate about archery and it is a topic that I could talk about forever. I started in the fourth grade and have done it ever since. I have been very successful and am so excited for what the future brings.

Tell us about your archery career.
I got my first bow when I was in the 6th grade but, I wasn’t able to start competing until the fourth grade. My paw paw was the who started the program in our county and it has continued ever since. I have won two back to back state championships in my career and am incredibly grateful for the coaches and teammates that have helped me along the way.

What is your favorite accomplishment in archery?
My favorite accomplishment is when I earned two state championships that I have gained in my 9 years of competing. Achieving this goal as only an 8th grader and a 9th grader is something that I am extremely proud of. Pushing myself to do the very best that I can do.

What is the most rewarding part about mentoring younger archers?
The most rewarding part about mentoring younger archers is seeing their faces light up when they get their high score or even just shoot a ten. It is just an amazing thing to witness when watching them shoot for years. They always want me standing behind them cheering them on and helping them when they have a bad arrow.

What has been your favorite class this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
Through my high school we are able to take college classes online and I have had the privilege of taking some classes through Glenville State University that go along with my interest of study. I am taking a class right now on crime scene management and it is the most interesting college course that I have taken. I love every aspect of it and am doing really well in it.

What sacrifices have you made to maintain such a high GPA?
Maintain a 4.3 GPA is not easy while working a part-time job, doing extracurricular, and taking college courses online. With these aspects of my life being so demanding I sometimes have to stay home and work on my school work instead of going out with my friends.

How has your part time job helped you overcome anxiety issues?
Talking to people, especially strangers causes me great anxiety. Working at my part-time job has allowed me to overcome my anxiety issues by dealing with both difficult and easy customers. I have learned problem-solving skills, product knowledge, and building relationships with each customer that comes into the store. Each of these skills helping me become a better person. I love talking with new people now and learning new things from different people every day.

Why are you most excited about attending Waynesburg University?
The main reason I am so excited about attending Waynesburg University to further my education is because of all of the new friendships and experiences that are in store for me. I am thrilled to meet new people and hopefully make a difference at the University. Forensic Investigation is a big interest of mine and I can’t wait to pursue it further.

What else would you like to talk about?
After high school I plan to attend Waynesburg University to further my education with a degree in Forensic Investigation. I plan to continue my acts of service, while also maintaining a part-time job to help with the cost of college.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
If I were offered my ideal dream job today it would probably be working as an FBI field agent.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I am involved in other clubs such as SkillsUSA and FCA. In SkillsUSA I have held offices from President to Parliamentarian.

How would you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style consists of working together as a team by helping each other to gain the best outcome. Each time I am put into a leadership role I like to disperse certain tasks to the individuals in which subject they strive in.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I have known Matt for a long time. His son is a member of the archery team and Matt was kind enough to take our team pictures for a couple years. Since then his pictures have become widely popular in our community. While we were supposed to have an outside session, due to weather we had to move indoors. Matt was very accommodating and worked with us to get all the pictures we wanted. The thing I loved most about our session was how fun and relaxing he made it.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
The person that nominated me was my mother. Seeing as she has known me my whole life it is hard to pick just one memory. If I had to pick a favorite though it would be when we pray before I shoot at every archery tournament. Bringing us closer together and giving God all the glory.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
Being able to showcase the wonderful photos Matt took would be a way that I could give back to him and help him grow his business.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
Because I am financially responsible for half of my college tuition, this scholarship would help me free up time to devote myself to my studies and service activities.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
There are several people who I would like to thank for getting me where I am today including my archery coaches for always pushing me to do my best, my mother and father for always being there for me, my law and public safety teacher for introducing me to criminal justice, my aunt and grandmother for always encouraging me, and my little cousin for always making my day.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
My character is driven by community and service. For years, I have strived to create transformative and purposeful change in our world. I am an active member in my community, dedicated to fostering connections, inclusivity, and giving back. But before anything else, I’m a best friend. A sister. A daughter. An advocate. I’m the cousin who leads with love, kindness, and most importantly… ice cream. I’m the friend who is incredibly loyal, the sister who protects, and the daughter who brings laughter to every conversation. Everything I do is simply guided by my passion for helping others shine.

What else would you like to talk about?
Beyond my leadership roles, I am driven by my belief in the power of small actions. Whether it’s organizing community events, supporting younger students, or simply showing up for those who need support, I know that change starts with kindness. As mentioned in the original nomination, my organization, Strength in Small Hands, resembles this belief to the tee—showing anyone can make a difference, and everyone should be supported. Truly greatest fulfillment comes from uplifting others and creating a world where everyone feels empowered.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Teenagers have a power that is too often overlooked—we are not just capable of change, we are driving it. We are often told to wait our turn, and that we are too young to understand the world yet. But, we see the world not just as it is, but as it could be. Change doesn’t come from waiting—it comes from acting, from caring, from believing that even the smallest voice can make a difference. We are the future. But, we’re also now. When teens come together, there’s nothing we can’t do.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
This isn’t a fancy story—just a meaningful one. My aunt, who I’m really close with, took this picture, and that makes it special. She’s someone who has always been there for me, supporting and inspiring me in ways big and small. So when I needed an image, I immediately thought of her.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
As funny as it sounds, my mom nominated me—I didn’t even know at first! She’s always been the one to push me toward new opportunities, and this was no different. She has always believed in me, made sure I didn’t miss out on something meaningful, and kept looking out for me like she always does. I wouldn’t be who I am without her.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be part of Inspiring Teens Magazine to inspire other teens to create change and show that sometimes, you don’t realize how much the world needed your project or idea until you bring it to life. Too often, we doubt ourselves or wait for the ‘correct time,’ but really, our voices and actions matter now. If sharing my story encourages even one teen to take that first step, then this opportunity will have been worth it.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win, I would use the money for my organization, Strength In Small Hands, and continue to give back.

What inspired you to start Strength in Small Hands?
Watching my grandfather battle cancer was a turning point for me. His strength, persistence, and unwavering optimism in the face of something so daunting made me realize how powerful resilience can be. I knew I couldn’t just stand by—I had to do something. That’s when the idea for Strength in Small Hands began. I wanted to create a space where small acts of kindness could add up to something bigger, proving that even as teenagers, we have the ability to make a real impact.

What exactly does your organization do?
At Strength in Small Hands, we believe that even the smallest gestures can create the biggest impact. We are providing activity boxes to pediatric cancer patients, bringing joy and comfort during their treatments. Our mission is to empower individuals and families affected by cancer through community support, awareness, and meaningful action. Together, hand in hand, we’re building a future of hope, strength, and resilience.

What do you love most about it?
What I love most about Strength in Small Hands is knowing that I’m making a true difference to such an important cause. Offering comfort during a tough time and inspiring others to take action is incredibly fulfilling, not to mention how it acts as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can create lasting change.

How would you describe your leadership style?
I would describe my leadership style as a combination of kindness and determination. I lead with empathy, making sure that those around me feel supported, while also maintaining a strong work ethic and constant persistence. I’m not afraid to tackle challenges head-on, and I encourage others to do the same, thus creating an uplifting and solution-oriented environment.

What is your strongest leadership quality?
My strongest leadership quality is being futuristic. I’m always envisioning what’s possible, and mapping out how to turn my ideas into reality. I often focus on the bigger picture and try not to let little “bumps in the road” slow me down. My ability to see beyond the present and envision future possibilities allow me to easily dream big and take action.

Describe a day you were especially active in your community.
One especially active day in my community involvement was at a leadership conference hosted by my town’s Youth Commission. I helped to facilitate the event, and we invited local teen innovators and entrepreneurs to present their small businesses, network with adults, and connect with professionals across numerous industries. It was an inspiring space where young leaders could dream big, share their experiences, and build meaningful connections.

What is your friend group like and what do you like to do together?
My friend group is so fun—loud, adventurous, and always up for something new. Whether it’s spending the day at an amusement park, trying out different coffee shops, or just going to Target to grab ingredients for a candy salad, we have the best time. You will catch us laughing over the most random things, and just enjoying whatever adventure we decide to take on that day–very spontaneous!

What is a memory with them you'll never forget?
One memory with my friend group that I’ll never forget is this one night where we decided to bake fresh cookies, and ended up making more than 100. After baking, we drove around to our friends’ and classmates’ houses and surprised them with plates of warm cookies to enjoy. It was so much fun seeing their reactions and just spreading a little joy in such a simple, sweet way.

What is your family like? Where do you fit in and where do you stand out?
I have a large Italian family and we’re definitely so fun and very loud—full of energy, love, and the best food! While I’m not the best cook (I don’t exactly carry those genes!) I definitely fit in with the laughter and excitement. With so many cousins, it’s never a dull moment, and we all really care for each other. The bond we share is something that makes our family extra special.

What is a family tradition you hope never ends?
A family tradition that I absolutely love and cherish is one that we have around the holidays. Every year, we cut down a Christmas tree on my birthday, which is November 28th—right in time for the holidays! It’s so much fun because we get to pick out the perfect tree, then come home and decorate it while enjoying dinner and dessert together.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
If I could have my ideal dream job today, I would want to own a marketing agency in London for a few years. I think it would be amazing to experience a new culture while being my own boss. Not only would I get to help other companies grow and achieve great results, but being able to explore and live outside of the country for a little while would be amazing. It’s the perfect mix of a wonderful career and new adventure.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
My uncle, Michael, has been a role model my whole life. He’s been my cheerleader in the best times, my source of wisdom in the challenging moments, my guidance when I needed direction, and my support in every way. His constant encouragement is something I am beyond grateful for, and he has wonderfully shaped me into the person I am today.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I am incredibly grateful to be featured in Inspiring Teens Magazine! Thank you so much for this opportunity—I truly appreciate it and am beyond honored.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me trying new restaurants and coffee shops with my friends / family, trying way too many things off the menu! Or, I would be taking my five year old cousin, Frankie, on an ice cream date, pushing him to try other flavors rather than his usual order of chocolate.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I am getting ready for college applications, so that will be the next big step! But I will also be continuing my community service work with Strength In Small Hands and other sectors of my life.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Take the risk. If you spend too much time waiting for the right time, you’ll realize it just passed.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
Yes, I want to own my own marketing agency, hopefully retire my parents, and build a meaningful career. But more than anything, in five years, I want to be there for the people I love. I want to be a role model for my sister, the laughter for my cousin, the smile for my parents, and the helping hand for my friends. I want to be the person they turn to. The one who brings out the sun on a rainy day.

ell us about a time you stood up for what you believed in even though it wasn't a popular opinion.
In my government and political science class, my professor is one of those people whos opinion you can never change. One class, he would not stop talking about his opinion on our current political situation. I stood up against his opinion, which I found to be very incorrect and did not support our nations women and young girls.

What was the outcome?
My professor promptly told me that that was my own opinion and that there was no factual evidence to support my argument. I responded with the same thing, stating his lecture was also his opinion, which left him short for words.

What do you wish others knew about your point of view?
I wish others knew how open-minded I was. I have always been open to learning about other point of views and ideas and I hope people know that and feel comfortable talking about their views with me.

What is homecoming like at your school?
Homecoming is a fun event where 6 girls and 6 guys are nominated by the entire senior class to compete for the title of Queen and King. Our school only includes seniors, unlike other schools that have freshmen, sophomores and juniors also participate.

What is your favorite memory as queen?
My favorite memory as queen was being able to tell the crowd all my accomplishments and my plans for the future.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Determination and drive are a few other inspiring things about myself. I have committed my entire high school career to achieving excellence in my studies. Because of this drive to succeed, I am top of my class and will be graduating summa cum laude in the spring. My fascination with the complexities of the human brain motivates me to push through challenges and stay focused on my goals of becoming a pediatric neurologist.

Why has staying at the top of your class been important to you?
I believe that staying at the top of my class pushes me to stay on top of my goals and pushes me to accomplish my goals.

What sacrifices have you made to make sure you stay there?
I have sacrificed sleep and extra time spent with friends in order to ensure that I have prepared for each test appropriately and maintained all A’s.

What has been your favorite class this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
My favorite class this year is Chemistry II. The most interesting thing that I have learned in Chemistry II is quantum mechanics.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I feel passionate about making a meaningful impact in the world. From the time I was a young child, I have been fascinated by the brain and the challenges that children face in the world. This passion has inspired me to pursue a career in pediatric neurology. I believe that with my work ethic, empathy, and a commitment to my goals, I can contribute to advancement in healthcare and make a difference in the lives of people in my community.

If you could solve one brain malfunction, which would it be and why?
If I could solve one brain malfunction, it would be Alzheimer’s because we currently only have treatments to address symptoms rather than curing the underlying disease.

Why did you choose to work with children in the future?
I chose to work with children because it would allow me to diagnose and treat neurological disorders early in life which can significantly improve long-term outcomes.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My ideal dream job would to be a pediatric neurologist in one of the top hospitals in my area.

How did You find your photographer? What was your experience?
I found my photographer, who is also my high school teacher and coach, through a Facebook post about joining her senior rep team. Working with her has been a wonderful experience. Her passion and dedication to photography created not only stunning photos but also the essence of my journey. I loved how she made me feel so comfortable and beautiful in all of my photos.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
During basketball practices and photo shoots, her sense of humor always shined brightly, creating a lighthearted environment that puts everyone at ease. Whether she is cracking jokes about our less than perfect basketball skills or playfully mimicking famous people, her laughter is contagious. Her ability to connect with each team member and student makes everyone feel safe and valued.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I believe in the power of sharing personal experiences that can motivate and uplift others. I hope to connect with other teens by sharing my experiences, lessons learned, and passions, creating a space where we can empower each other to chase our dreams and overcome obstacles. As a young person in the world today, I have experienced firsthand the importance of community, support, and inspiration in shaping one's journey.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I won a scholarship, I would be immensely grateful for the opportunity it would provide me to further my education and pursue my passions-without the heavy burden of financial stress. I would use the scholarship to pay for my education at Bellarmine University.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me with my best friend Brady, hanging out at Starbucks!

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
Up next for me is starting my college career at Bellarmine University. I am super excited to begin my journey towards my career.

I go to Penquis Valley Highschool. I will miss my friends, teammates,  and coaches. I also play sports for Foxcroft Academy. I will miss my teammates and coaches there as well!

What have you loved most about being a senior this year?
Being captain of all my sports teams, and working hard with my teammates. The freedom of knowing what is to come with the military, so I have been doing everything to prepare for that.

What is your favorite class this year and what is the most interesting thing you've learned?
I don't have a favorite class this year but usually my favorite classes are health and physical education.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Fitness and sports.

What sports do you play?
Hockey. Soccer, and Track and field.

Which is your favorite and why?
Hockey,  it's a challenge and you have to think ahead.

What else would you like to talk about?
I think it's important to have a healthy body and mind. Health is extremely important and what you put into your body. What you feed your body and how you treat yourself is important. I can't stress that enough, if you don't feel good you should look at what you are eating.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
My mother has worked with him in the past. I just always knew that he was professional and easy to work with. It seemed so quick and easy to what I thought it was going to be. We actually laughed and had a great time.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Probably, that day of the shoot. We laughed a lot, especially at peoples reactions to us trying to get some of the shots we were trying to get. We had to climb under and over some places most people wouldn't think to go.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
To show others from my area that we are something and can get out. To do more than what is asked. If you are going to do something put your heart into it. Don't just do it baseline. Push yourself as hard as you can to be better and better each time. That's how you change. How you make progress.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I will use it to push myself to be better and to gain more traction in my life. Further myself in my goals. They may change depending on what I am doing in my Military career at that time.

Ayla is involved in tons so let’s just name a few; Volleyball, Swim, Teen Institute, Ohio Attorney General Teen Ambassador Board, Marion Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Program and the Paul Robeson Speech Academy.

Photography by Alex Spence Photography

What is most rewarding about being the Senior Class President?
The most rewarding thing about being Senior Class President is getting to be a role model for others. I try and do this in every leadership role or activity that I participate in but being class president is sort of different in the sense that everyone is always looking up to you. You are automatically appointed as a leader but what really matters is what you decide to do with everyone watching.

How would you describe your leadership style?
If I had to describe my leadership style, I would say that I try to include everyone. Some leaders would just push others around and tell them what to do or assign them directly to something that they may not want to do. Instead, I think working together and listening to each others ideas is more important than holding all the power in my own hands.

What has been your favorite leadership activity?
My favorite leadership activity is definitely being on youth board in my local substance free club in my community. Our program is called Teen Institute and is involved with 11 schools in our community. Anyone can join this club however there are a few leaders from each school that are chosen to make up the youth board. We are the representatives from our schools and get to come together outside of school in order to plan events and represent what being substance free really means. This leadership activity has brought me so many opportunities and has given me my best friends.

How did you get involved in speech competitions?
I got involved in speech competitions when I was in the 6th grade. I wrote an essay in elementary school that I had read aloud at an assembly and a year later I was pointed in the direction of the Peace and Freedom Committee who holds the annual Martin Luther King Jr. oratorical contest. I was nervous my first time competing but ever since then, getting to spread my message has never been more pleasing to me as a young woman in this country. I know have competed in a total of 13 contests and many other speaking opportunities.

What is a speech competition like?
When competing in an oratorical contest, things definitely can get a little nerve racking. Usually once you arrive, you check in and find a seat at the front of the room or in the same area as the other competitors. Sometimes I have gone in order of age or in order of a random draw. You then get called to the podium to speak to the audience and the panel of judges who are normally in the front row or in the very back of the room. After everyone has finished speaking, the judges finalize their scores and the winners are announced.

What do you talk about to spread hope and love?
When talking about spreading love and hope to our world, I always make sure to mention a couple of things. We as humans are always so quick to judge one another but we never top to think about how easy it is to do the complete opposite. Instead of resorting straight to hate and violence, we as humans and the future of our world need to stop and choose love. Love will always trump hate and hope will always outweigh injustice. When speaking about this, it is so important for people to hear that you have a voice, and when you decide to use it instead of resorting to violence, change can be made even if it is small.

Tell us about your volleyball career? When did you get started and where aer you at with it now?
I was introduced to volleyball in the 5th grade and started playing once I reached middle school. I fell in love with the sport and continued playing through middle school and eventually got involved in a travel team. I was never the best player on the team but that didn’t matter to me because I just loved having the opportunity to get to play on a court with some of my best friends. However once tried out for the high school team and watched all my friends make jv when I was stuck on the freshman team, I wanted to work harder. That is exactly what I did and it lead me to make varsity the following year where I was a defensive specialist and a right side hitter. The sport was definitely mentally and physically draining but for me it was still about the love I shared within my team and every chance that I got to step onto the court. Even though I am done with my volleyball career it will forever be something I cherish for the rest of my life.

What is your favorite accomplishment with swimming?
My favorite accomplishment with swimming would have to be simply sticking with the sport even when it got hard. I joined freshman year to get the opportunity to be on the same team as my brother and after he left, I always wanted to quit but I never could. I ended up coming back for all 4 seasons and I have no regrets of doing so. I couldn’t imagine what my life would have been life if I quit and never stuck with it. I have won many races, tried many new events and have made so many new friends. Never giving up was hard but in the end it was worth it.

What is Teen Institute and why is it important to you?
Teen Institute is a program within our high schools in the area that promotes being substance free and living a healthy positive lifestyle. We do a lot of events within the community that promotes these messages such as our annual drug free rally and our county wide weekend retreat along with many others. Every event is focused on connecting and strengthening the bond between our youth and the communities we reside in. Teen Institute is so important to me because it demonstrates the power that we as young people hold. All it takes is one young voice to make a small difference but if we all come together, the possibilities are endless.

What are your roles and responsibilities on the Ohio Attorney General Teen Ambassador Board?
My role as a youth on the Ohio Attorney General Teen Ambassador Board, is to find the power the my voice holds and to be a leader representing my hometown of Marion Ohio. A lot of people look at Marion as a town full of trouble and kids who are automatically set up for failure. However this is not true at all because once you discover your voice and the power that it holds, you can create change one step at a time. I have made this discovery and by being apart of this program, I now know that I can change the narrative and become something that others have told me I could never be.

What has been a favorite memory with Marion Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Program?
I think my favorite memory with the Marion Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Program was having the opportunity to speak with Mary Ellen Withrow. I was so inspired by her story of being a woman during a time where people told her that her voice didn’t matter and how she never gave up. Becoming the first woman to be county, state and country treasure shows her hard work and dedication that she had during her years of growth.

What has the Paul Robeson Speech Academy taught you?
The Paul Robeson Speech Academy has taught me the importance of teaching our younger leaders, the importance and power of public speaking. I am honored to hold the position of a mentor to these younger kids because I get to aid them in the discovery of their own voices and peaceful power. Watching them progress from being shy and quite to these outgoing and well spoken prodigies, is something that I will forever cherish. It is so important for our future leaders to know that public speaking is a huge and helpful skill to have when entering young adulthood even into adulthood within their future jobs.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Over the course of my 18 years in this world I have managed to spread my message of love and kindness to hundreds of people around Ohio. With every speech competition that I compete in, It is never about winning for me; it is more about coming to understand who I am and what I stand for.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I have a strong passion about how love can conquer anything in our world. If we take the small amount of time out of our days that it takes to make someone smile or to be seen, so much can be changed. You never know what someone is going through and never know who needs the help. It takes absolutely nothing out of a person to be kind and that is something I will never stop telling people who need to hear it.

What else would you most like to talk about?
I have been involved in Alexis spence photography as a teen representative for about a year now. With every shoot, team bonding, and every way that we give back to our community, I have never felt more blessed to be a part of something so life changing. It is amazing how one group of girls can inspire each other and cheer each other on in everything that they do.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
it was more she found me type of situation. She posted an application to be a rep and my mom happened to come across it. Ever since joining the team I have made new friends. become more confident in myself and must importantly I have learned what it means and feels to make a difference in the world as young adult. The thing that I love the most about this experience is definitely the bond I have created with the other girls and my photographer.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in inspiring teen magazine because I want to prove to myself that I can be something and also show other girls entering young adulthood that they can make a difference too. All it takes is one voice, one action or idea to change the world. and this would just be the beginning.

What is a favorite memory you have with the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory of the person who nominated me is all of our shoots. It seems like something memorable always happens when we are together. Which I will cherish for a lifetime. Alexis is such an amazing photographer, a huge supporter and an inspiring mom. Even outside of our shoots she has always supported me by coming to my special events.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I were to win the scholarship money, It would go to paying for college. I am planning on attending either The University of Tennessee or the Ohio State University to study psychology. I will be in school for a while so any and all awards given to me will help towards schooling.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job, if offered to me today, would have to be a social justice attorney. Speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves and making sure their opinions are heard is something that I will always find passion in doing.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my mom for being my biggest and number one supporter in everything that I do as well as my family who are always there for me. I would also like to thank my friends for always showing me that I am loved and that I have a support system ready to catch me if I ever shall fall.

Jolie Bolen – Georgia
Nomination & Photography by Beautiful Memories Photography By Aurora
Issue 88 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Jolie Bolen is a sweet and caring young lady. I watched her through the years coach younger children on her cheer teams and be an inspiration to the younger girls. Although her cheer journey ended, her work with children did not. She took 2 years of classes and became CPR certified to instruct younger kids in school. She thrives on creativity and has a passion for fashion. Her goal, after high school, is to become a Master Cosmetologist where she can share her creativity and eye for beauty with everyone.

Tell us about your cheer career.
My cheer career began when I was five in a tumbling class. I shortly after that joined an all star team and continued to cheer competitively for ten seasons. The journey was hard ,but the outcomes were always worth the hardships. I was so blessed to be coached and supported by some of the best people along side my teammates.

What was your favorite accomplishment with cheer?
My favorite accomplishment from cheer would be my last season when we got invited to the biggest competition of the season. On day one of the competition we did so well we got picked to compete the following day. On day two we competed and placed fifth place in the nation at an invite only competition. This memory is my favorite because my team fought through so much and the reward was worth it in the end. Watching my team celebrate was something I will never forget.

What do you wish others knew about cheerleading?
I wish others knew the time and physical commitment it is. We would have practice multiple times a week for hours. Alongside with competitions on the weekends and being in school it takes a lot. Cheerleading also comes with so many supporters and lifelong friendships which makes it so much easier.

What else would you like to talk about?
I coached the youngest groups of competitive cheerleaders, while competing on my own teams. I still love watching all my former athletes grow and succeed over the years.

What do you love most about coaching younger children?
I love coaching the younger athletes because watching them progress and love a sport I loved. Cheer practice was their way to go somewhere after a bad day at school, when something was going on outside of the doors of the gym, or whatever could be going on outside of the gym they would forget when they would go to practice. They came to practice and could learn new skills or work on their routine. As they progressed and seeing them so excited for their new skills was the best part of it all.

How would you describe yourself as a leader?
I think I’m a leader because I am very outgoing and love to take charge and lead by positive example. I like to see others grow in their passions and what makes them happy.

Tell us about your love for fashion and what it stems from.
I am very creative when it comes to fashion or interior design. I love bright and happy colors ,as they can brighten anything up. My love for fashion I always out credit to my Aunt Diane as my family says I remind them of her all the time. I love to see beauty in everyone.

How would you describe your style?
I think my style is very bright and I love wearing the color pink. My style ranges from cute athletic clothes to dresses. I love wearing colorful and unique clothes as it really brings out who I am.

What is trending right now that you really love, vs a trend you don't love so much?
I really love the bows and lots of pink that is trending right now, the beige aesthetic I don’t love so much because I love all things colorful.

What type of Cosmetology are you interested in?
I am interested in learning how to color, cut, and style hair. Alongside I would love to learn more about extensions in the Cosmetology field.

What are you doing now to prepare for a career in this?
Currently I have scheduled visits to tour and see what school I will be attending in the fall. I have also started looking into future salons and looking at my requirements for school.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job would be in a hair salon doing extensions, coloring hair, and styling hair making people feel beautiful helping them express themselves.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I was given a gift when it comes to bringing out the beauty in everything. Whether its the bright, happy colors with interior design or the emphasis of natural beauty of another person, I love to create happy places & happy faces. I attribute that gift to my namesake, Aunt Diane.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am intensley passionate about my future. After graduation, I have goals and timelines set and ready to go. College, investing time into my career, building a brand and clientele. I can't wait to get started.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I met Aurora while cheering on the same teams as her daughter. We traveled around the southeast for years competeing with some of the biggest gyms in the country. We had some of the best times. Now we have just as much fun in front of the camera!

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
I was nominated by my photographer and family friend Aurora. Aurora's daughter, Lexy, and I were on multiple competitive teams together. We have gone on multiple trips over multiple seasons for competitions. Making it to Summit Day 2 was one of the biggest highlights for both of us. We placed in the top 5 teams in the country.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I am on a senior team and my photographer is Mrs. Aurora. On her team, we have amazing people with themed shoots that are unique and fun while showing individuality between all of us. Aubrey Bedard – Maine
Nomination & Photography by StewartSmithPhotography.com
Issue 88 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Aubrey is a Peer Helper at her high school. She and one of her teachers are the driving force behind an annual blanket drive that her two older sisters started in 2014 called Feel Good Fleece. The blanket drive which typically all students in high school get involved in thanks to Aubrey’s leadership, donates about 100 blankets to various charitable organizations like Preble Street, Sweetser, and teen youth centers. I feel she uplifts everyone around her just to be in her presence.

Tell us about your role as a Peer Helper.

As a peer helper, my role is to include everyone. For example, if we see someone sitting alone, we take an oath to sit with them and make them feel included. We are also there to help support new students and help them find their way around the school.

What is your favorite accomplishment as a Peer Helper?
Definitely the annual blanket drive! I love hearing stories about how these blanket donations have helped many people.

How would you describe your leadership style in this role?
I strive to set a good example and encourage others to do their best as well.

Why is Feel Good Fleece important to you?
Feel Good Fleece holds great significance for me, not only because it is a family tradition that started with my older sisters but also because it opens your eyes to the impact a simple act of giving can have. We can never truly know the struggles someone else faces. I believe that everyone deserves to feel warmth and love, and this project beautifully brings that to life.

What have your responsibilities with this organization taught you?
I have discovered that my responsibility for leadership manifests in various ways, including providing clear direction, effectively delegating tasks, and inspiring my peers to stay motivated.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Last year I decided to challenge myself with something out of my comfort zone. I ran for USOA Teen Maine and placed First Runner Up in my first-ever pageant experience. My platform is Youth Literacy, emphasizing learning differences, particularly dyslexia, and why early intervention is so important. As a student fortunate to receive a diagnosis in the second grade, I experienced firsthand how critical specific instruction is in the most formative years of education. I hope that one day all educators will know the signs of a learning disability.

How did you get interested in pageantry?
To be honest, I didn't know much about pageantry when I first applied to be the USOA Teen York County. Like many people, I had stereotypical ideas about it; I thought it was just about beautiful girls competing for a crown based solely on their looks. After competing in 2024, I realize it's so much more than that! The most interesting aspect for me is the emphasis on female empowerment, positive self-image, and advocating for community service.

What is something that surprised you while preparing for your first pageant?
That runway walk isn't as simple as it looks! I took so much practice not to fall over in those heels!

What did you learn about Youth Literacy in your endeavors?
I was surprised to learn that elementary educators receive little to no training in recognizing learning disabilities. I believe the key to youth literacy success is early interventions and teaching to each student's unique learning styles.

What else would you like to talk about?
I have been an equestrian since I was 4 years old. For the past three years, I have been training my own young horse in the discipline of Eventing. Eventing is a combined sport of dressage, show jumping, and cross-country riding. Last summer, our qualifying scores enabled us to compete at the Pony Club Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. We received first place in our equation class and placed third overall. It was such an amazing experience!

What is your training schedule like for Eventing?
My training schedule is quite intense during the spring, summer, and fall because it is essential to keep my horse conditioned so that they can compete at their best. Horses are just like any other athletes; the more exercise and strengthening they do, the better they perform. I ride most days and practice the areas where I need to improve in order to enhance my scores.

What do you wish everyone knew about this sport?
Many people think that being an equestrian is easy and do not consider it a sport. I have heard so many times, "The horse does the work; you just sit there." However, it is not as easy as it looks. A horse has a mind of its own, and anything can happen at any moment. Convincing a 1,000 lb+ animal to partner with you and perform requires immense patience and skill.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Anything equine-related! Horses are a huge part of who I am, and I have learned many life skills from my years around them. Throughout history, the relationship between horses and humans has remained steady. From wars fought to serving as a mode of transportation, horses have significantly contributed to the development of our civilization. Now, they offer companionship, can be teammates, and some even work in therapeutic settings. In my opinion, they are the world's most versatile animals. I hope to pursue a career in Equine Science and Management with a focus on reproduction.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
Ever since I was little, I wanted to try modeling/acting. My wish was to land some type of equestrian role. As a big dreamer, I was hoping to land a role on Heartland or Yellowstone. As a 10-year-old I was for sure that was my destiny. My photographer, Stewart Smith is local to me and was offering model portfolio-building sessions. My session with him opened a door to pageantry and with my portfolio, I was accepted at The New Englands Model Group. Stewart is fun, and uplifting and genuinely wants his clients to succeed.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Stewart is USOA's official photographer, so at this past pageant in October 24', he spent the entire weekend working with the contestants. He was the ultimate hype guy and such a pillar of support. On one of those days, we had the option of getting some photographs done in our interview attire. I jumped at the opportunity. Stewart told me to "hit a strong pose", I thought that meant to flex my biceps. We both started laughing hysterically the minute I did that pose!

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I want to inspire others with my story and prove that when you take the path less traveled and move away from your comfort zone, so many beautiful doors with fabulous opportunities can open.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I won scholarship money, I definitely would donate to The Children's Dyslexia Center in Portland Maine. This tutoring center, which operates solely on donations, was critical in helping me when I was struggling with reading and writing in my elementary and middle school years. I felt stupid in comparison to my peers but the educators at this center taught me in ways that my brain could understand and helped me regain my self-esteem.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
To work at a reproduction barn with pregnant mares and foals.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Without a doubt, my mom is the most influential person in my life. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her love and support. She is not only my best friend but also my go-to for advice on everything. She has always been by my side, encouraging me to achieve my goals, and I am forever grateful for that.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
BE YOU! There is no one better than your true authentic self!

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
Most likely in the barn or visiting my nephew.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
Competing in the next USOA 2025 Pageant and touring lots of colleges in the coming months.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
Getting through the pain and setbacks from my recent knee surgery was one of the hardest things I have done. Due to a broken bone, I experienced so much pain and was unable to ride my horse or do much of anything for a while.
I overcame this challenge by focusing on the idea that the process was temporary. The more seriously I took my physical therapy, the faster I began to walk again, and the sooner I could ride and play lacrosse. Eventually, I grew stronger and was able to walk again.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Never give up!  Take the path less traveled and always stay true to your authentic self.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself about to graduate from the University of Kentucky with my degree in Equine Sciences and Reproduction.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
Jet Skiing, swimming, paddle boarding, anything lake-related!

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
It's not really a hidden talent; it's more of a skill. I grew up with a trampoline in my backyard so I'm very good at gymnastics and doing flips.

3 Things on your bucket list
Meet Morgan Wallen, learn to scuba dive, and travel to Europe.

Who do you find inspiring?
My parents inspire me the most. They are both hard-working entrepreneurs who always raise the bar for themselves and encourage everyone around them to do the same.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I believe that inspiring others starts with maintaining optimism. I enjoy cheering someone up on a bad day through humor.

Talia Campobasso – Maine
Nomination & Photography by stewartsmithphotography.com
Issue 88 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Talia helps out with unified basketball, volunteers for her community & school by helping set up the craft fair, assists the boosters with events, volunteer freshman helper, volunteers her time for project grad & anything to help others! She is also a member of the leadership council in her school and has participated in the Youth Identity Summit and plans to attend the State House in March with leadership council. She's also received the coaches award for cheerleading. She's been an all American cheerleader nominee with NCA and also captain of the cheering team.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
Another one of my passions has been lacrosse which I have played since third grade and continued into high school. I was unable to continue playing my junior year, however, due to obtaining multiple concussions over the years. Still wanting to be a part of my team, I talked to my coach & my doctor. We decided that becoming the Varsity Manager was the best decision for me at that time. I continued to be the best that I could be in that role even though it was hard for me to watch the sport I love from the sideline.

What else would you like to talk about?
I overcame adversity turning a negative experience with Cheerleading into a positive one. I had to make the very difficult decision to quit Winter cheer my junior year which was devastating since I loved doing it and it has been a part of who I was since starting high school.
I didn’t want to let the situation stop me from being involved with my school and being active, so I joined unified basketball, which has been something I’ve always wanted to do. Since then, I have become a positive influence on those who I help on the basketball team.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk about makeup, hair, self growth, how important it is to take care of yourself, cosmetology school, the importance of the environment kids are raised in and friendships.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I found my photographer from him doing the photo shoot & poster for a Semi-pro Cheerleading/dance Team my mom was on years ago then doing my sister’s Senior photos a few years ago. I wanted to continue the tradition so I contacted him for my Senior photos.

My experience was really good! We tried a lot of new, fun ideas and poses and the settings we went to were really pretty. What I love the most was how easy Stewart is to connect with.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory was when Stewart texted me saying he had a new photo shoot idea for me and asked me to bring anything “American flag-ish” that I had. He had a really cool idea to do with an American flag backdrop and the feel of a country album cover. He was soo excited about this idea for me & the shoot! The day we went to the shoot, it was just really fun and I had a great time with trying different things

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
There are many reasons why I want to be in Inspiring Teen Magazine. One reason is that it’s a true honor and privilege to be in the magazine. Another reason is that I hopefully can inspire others to be the best version of themselves. And, as well, showing teens that putting themselves out there & going out of their comfort zone can create growth & opportunities.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I would definitely put it towards college, savings or cosmetology school because you can’t go wrong with investing in yourself.

Mayson Brown – Texas
Nomination & Photography by Arellano Photography
Issue 88 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Mayson Brown is an incredible person, with such a positive and uplifting spirit! She is a great friend, cheerleader, and pursuing a dream of becoming a successful hairstylist, which is truly inspiring. Her inner and outer beauty shine through in everything she does. She is incredibly talented when she touches hair. It’s amazing to know someone who brings so much energy and encouragement to others and makes them feel beautiful. The work we have created together is amazing and I enjoy taking her photos.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
I feel that I am strong and capable of handling anything that comes my way. I strive to focus on the good in every situation and always acknowledge my strengths and focus on areas that I need to improve. I do NOT give up easily, and whenever in doubt, I remember God above all.

What else would you like to talk about?
I was raised in Round Rock, Texas, and attended school through 6th grade. Before starting 7th grade my family moved to the small town of Crane, Texas. This was a nerve-racking situation for me because I was anxious about being the new girl in town. I was terrified the girls would be mean and rude to me. To my surprise it was the exact opposite. Everyone was so welcoming and nice, and I fit right in.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am extremely passionate about hair, makeup, nails and fashion. I like to be up to date on all the new fashion trends. Ever since I was a little girl, I have had a passion and love for anything relating to cosmetics and clothing. Recently, working out at the gym has become another one of my passions and probably my favorite one. Prioritizing my health and well-being has been the best decision I have made.

How did you find your photographer? What was your experience like? What did you love most?
I met my photographer, Lily, doing a photoshoot with a friend and from that moment I knew her work was amazing! Lily continues to capture special moments for me, from school pictures, candids and family pictures. Lily makes the experience fun, easy and enjoyable.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of my favorite memories with Lily was the time she was going to shoot our family pictures. We were scheduled to take pictures around 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday. That day the electricity went out in Crane. Lily contacted my mom throughout the day trying to figure out a time to reschedule. The electricity finally came back on around 6:00 p.m., and we were scrambling to get dressed, Five people trying to get ready as quickly as possiblewas not easy. We made it happen and met Lily around 7:00 p.m.The photos came out amazing!

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
As a little girl growing up, I looked up to older girls as role models and that has always inspired me to be a role model to younger children. In the crazy society we live in today, I just want to be able to shine a light and be a positive role model to others.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I will utilize the scholarship money to further my education in cosmetology and obtain a bachelor’s degree in business.
