Kayla Campbell – Pennsylvania
Nomination & Photography by Debra Campbell Photography
Issue 96 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Kayla Campbell is a 2025 graduate of Chartiers Valley High School in Pennsylvania. She is currently in her first semester at LIM College in New York City studying Fashion Marketing and pursuing modeling. Her dedication and perseverance make her an exceptionally inspiring role model.

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
Some inspiring qualities and accomplishments that I have are walking in New York Fashion Week beginning at the age of 17. I’ve walked the runway for 3 seasons, and will be auditioning again for my fourth season in February. I love collaborating with designers and photographers working as a team to complete their vision.

What else would you like to talk about? Current goals and projects your working on are always interesting!
I recently moved to New York City to attend LIM College and I am majoring in Fashion Marketing. Balancing both modeling and school can be hard, but going to school to learn about the business of fashion will help me with modeling as well as preparing for a job in the fashion industry. Ultimately they go hand in hand. Education is really important to me and I strive to do the best I can through school, and modeling.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk about fashion for the rest of my life. I absolutely love it. Fashion is my art form that allows me to express myself. By trying new looks, or even a new makeup style I am able to express myself in creative ways. I love how in the modeling industry everyone works together to create art. We are all a part of a team with the same goals. Working with such brilliant people in the industry has really shaped me into who I am today, and I am so thankful for that!

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
My photographer is my beautiful mother. She started her own photography business when I was a child. I used to pose for her when I was little, learning how to be in front of the camera. I love having photoshoots with her because we both have creative minds and we can really make our vision come to life!

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory with my mom, was when we did senior portraits. Having a fun and laid-back photo session with my mom was special because we had one-on-one time together. Not many seniors get to have their own mom take their senior portraits, and I feel lucky to have those memories.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I would love to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I would love to encourage the readers to follow their dreams and not let anyone or anything get in the way of their passion.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I won the scholarship I would put it towards the cost of my college tuition and keep on pursuing my modeling dream. While attending an out of state college can be very expensive, I know it will be worth it with the education and experience I will gain.

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
In addition to being a full-time student, employee and business owner, I also serve as the broadcast analyst and technology/social media coordinator for a local broadcasting company called Bootheel Broadcasting!

What else would you like to talk about? Current goals and projects your working on are always interesting!
I am currently working on my Honors Thesis at the University of Arkansas! My thesis is centered around how women in Agricultural work fields distribute their time both personally and professionally! In addition to my school project, I am always working to improve and create new products for my business that draw in customers!

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Something that I feel very passionately about is the ability to be kind to everyone, regardless of how you have been treated by someone. I have been on both ends of this, receiving kindness when I may not have deserved it as well as giving kindness that wasn’t reciprocated. At the end of the day, you’ll never know what battles someone is fighting, so it’s always better to be kind!

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
My photography just recently began taking photos! She has been my hair and makeup artist for several years now, for pageants and school events! Whenever she took on photography, I jumped at the opportunity to be in front of her camera because of the kind and welcoming environment she creates just by her presence! What I love most about a photography experience with her is her ability to be honest with me, instead of just saying I look good and continuing on!

My younger sister is the person who nominated me! I have so many great memories with her, too many to share! I think that she is a very thoughtful, considerate and sweet for nominating me for this opportunity! Over the last several years I have seen numerous teens in my area be nominated for Inspiring Teens Magazine! After learning about the program and what they do, I have been interested in the process, I have however never been nominated until now! I would like to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine not only for the opportunity to receive a scholarship, but to encourage other girls who may feel discouraged about their looks or abilities that they can receive great opportunities, just as this one!

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I will use the money to pay for my tuition at the University of Arkansas, or possibly fund a semester abroad experience over the next year!

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I have been very blessed to be accepted into Highlands College School of Ministry, where I will be studying worship and learning more on how to lead people to the Lord.

What else would you like to talk about?
Through recent years I’ve struggled really bad with anxiety, which has set me back in many different ways. One of the ways God has helped with this struggle is through songwriting. One of my goals is to record some of those songs, which I hope can help people with the words and tunes God has given me.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I feel very passionate about music, but specifically about country music. The roots of country music hold a very special place in my heart, I think because it has helped me through so much. I love the values, the people, and the truth that the foundation of country music holds. I truly could talk forever about it.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
Mrs. Amanda and her family have been a staple in our community and have watched most of us grow up. She loves loving on us and never stops cheering us on. She always seems to capture more than just the moment in every picture. I think that’s what I loved most about this experience, but also walking down broadway of course.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Nicole Garner, my mom, nominated me for Inspiring Teens Magazine. Whenever I think of my mom, I immediately think of her faith. No matter how hard things got she never lost her faith in God. I also love small coffee trips, which are full of interesting conversations and laughs. I’m very blessed that I’m able to look up to someone who plays a big part in my life.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I think this is a great opportunity to share my faith and purpose with anyone who might want to hear that God can use their story to.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to help further my education at Highlands College.

What first inspired you to start writing your own songs, and how do you feel God guides your songwriting process?
I think just by watching and listening to my favorite country artist is what inspired me to start writing my own songs. Whenever I sit down to write sometimes I don’t remember the process, the words just flow. I think that’s how God guides my songwriting, he gives me the words that I need and words that I need to share.

You mentioned that music has helped you through anxiety. Can you share a specific moment when a song you wrote brought you peace or strength?
I feel like songwriting as a whole gives me peace and calms my mind. I recently wrote a song called “The Dress in My Closet”. I feel like this song gave me strength because I knew people could relate to it. It’s always good to know when someone likes one of my songs, it gives me strength to keep going and doing what I love.

What does being accepted into Highlands College School of Ministry mean to you, and what are you most excited to learn ?
Being accepted into Highlands College means so much to me, I feel like God has lead me there and I have full peace about it. I’m excited to learn more about worship ministry, and how God can move through music. I’m also interested in learning more about leadership while I am there through serving in different positions on campus.

How do you hope your songs will impact people who may be struggling with similar challenges?
I hope my songs give people the words they needed to hear or couldn’t find themselves. I pray I am the “somebody” that they can relate to when it comes to my songs and realize they aren’t alone.

Who are some of your biggest influences in country or worship music, and how have they shaped your sound?
I have a lot of different artists who has influence me starting through age of my life. My favorites include, Wynona Judd, Loretta Lynn, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and so many more! If I had to pick my biggest influence I would definitely say it is Dolly Parton. Watching Dolly always being herself, stand for God, caring for others, and doing anything she puts her mind to is very inspiring to me! All of these artists have shaped me in many different ways, but something they all have in common is country music. I am very grateful for Country music in how it has shaped my sound and song writing.

When you’re performing or writing, how do you stay centered on your faith and remember the purpose behind your music?
When I’m performing or writing, I stay centered on my faith by always remembering that He is my rock and foundation. I like to give Him the pen to write the story, because when I let God lead, the lyrics and the purpose behind my music become so much more meaningful. Every song becomes a reflection of what He’s doing in my life, not just what I’m feeling in the moment.

What’s one song you’ve written that feels especially personal or powerful, and what’s the story behind it?
One of the most personal songs I’ve ever written is called “The Hallway.” My dad pastored a church for 16 years, and when he recently stepped down, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to walk through. Church had always been such a big part of my life — it was where I grew up, found my friends, and felt closest to God. When that season ended, I didn’t understand why God was taking it away. “The Hallway” is about feeling lost and unsure of what’s next, but choosing to keep trusting anyway — because there’s always a light at the end of the hallway.

How do you balance your love for country music with your mission to share your faith through your songs?
I think I balance this by combining the two together. One of my favorite things to do is to share my faith through song and I believe country music has faith built in its roots. I think it’s a beautiful thing when both are combined and used for good.

What advice would you give to other teens who feel anxious but want to use their talents to serve God?
I would tell other teens not to let fear or the opinions of others hold them back from who God created them to be. I would then say, turn your ear from the noise that chaos creates and use their gifts that God has given you boldly. At the end of the day Gods judgment is the only one that matters, so focus on how you serve Him instead of serving everybody’s opinion.

Looking ahead, where do you see your music ministry taking you — recording, performing, leading worship, or something else entirely?
I hope to do all three! Whether that’s going on tour, recording songs or albums, songwriting, or leading worship in a church, God is the only one who knows where my feet will land. I don’t know how big or small my story will be, but I’m excited to see how this thing called life unfolds for me.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
Yes! I’m part of my photographer’s senior rep team, and it’s been such a fun experience. We have been doing different photo shoots throughout my senior year, and some of the pictures featured in this issue were actually taken in one of my favorite places — Nashville! So far, these photos have captured memories that really show who I am during this season of life.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job would definitely be something in music. I’d love to write songs full time, make albums, lead worship, and travel to share my music with others. Getting to use my voice and my songwriting to inspire people and point them to God would honestly be the dream.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my Mom, she always helps get me out of my head and is there whenever I need her. She helps me understand Gods character more and more everyday and I know I wouldn’t be where I am without her.

Photography by Nowelle Ledebuhr Studio 1492

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?

I am a Varsity Cheerleader but I also participate in the Unified sports offered at my school. I enjoy being a peer to the athletes and cherish the friendships that I have made throughout my high school career.
For my academic achievements I competed in Skills USA and won state so I was able to represent Indiana in the regional competition this past summer .

What else would you like to talk about?
I am currently interning at a woman’s care office as a CCMA in the afternoons. I am able to observe the ultrasound’s and get a jump start on my college classes. I find such joy working with expecting mothers.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
The Bible. I enjoy reading God’s word and attending church camp. I want others to see God’s love thru me.

You’ve already achieved so much as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant—what inspired you to pursue the medical field at such a young age?
I believe it is my calling to help people. God gave me a servant’s heart. Jeremiah 29:11

What have you learned from your internship at the women’s care office that has strengthened your desire to study sonography and diagnostic medical imaging?
I like that sonography is challenging and there is so much complexity to it. There are so many components that go into it and seeing it first hand strengthens my desire to purse a career in it.

Competing and winning at SkillsUSA is a huge accomplishment! What was that experience like, and what skills or lessons did you take away from it?
The experience of competing at skills USA was like no other. I competed with students my own age and met people from all over the USA. There were so many skills and talents represented there. One thing I took away from that experience is I work well under pressure and that hard work pays off.

How has being involved in both Varsity Cheerleading and Unified Sports shaped your leadership style and outlook on teamwork?
It takes the whole team to succeed and I need to motivate others to achieve their goals by achieving them myself first.

You mentioned cherishing the friendships you’ve made through Unified Sports—can you share a meaningful moment with one of the athletes that really stuck with you?
When I first joined Unified track I was paired with an athlete that would only run the 100 if he was holding someone’s hand. Now he runs it by himself with me encouraging him from the side lines. His confidence in himself grew so much and I am so proud of him and will cherish that memory forever.

Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while juggling athletics, volunteering, and an internship takes serious discipline. What strategies or habits help you stay so organized and motivated?
It is very difficult but I stray away from distractions. I surround myself with people who support and motivate me.

You said you find joy in working with expecting mothers—what have you learned from witnessing those special moments during ultrasounds?
It is difficult to put into words the joy that watching parents see their child on the screen for the first time brings me. It is absolutely beautiful and I am blessed to get to be a part of it.

Faith seems to play an important role in your life. How has your relationship with God influenced your goals, character, or the way you treat others?
I want to be a reflection of him, to be Christ like. I want others to see Gods love thru me by my actions and words.

If you could give one piece of advice to younger students who want to balance academics, sports, and faith the way you do, what would it be?
Set high standards for yourself. Set your goals just as high and work hard for them. When it seems like it’s too much turn to your bible and God.

Looking ahead, where do you see yourself in 5–10 years, and how do you hope to continue making a difference in people’s lives through your career and faith?
In 5-10 years I will working full time at either a pediatric hospital or working with expecting mothers then coming home to my husband and children. I hope I make a difference in someone’s life.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
A fellow cheerleader was a rep for Nowelle her senior year. I applied to be a rep and was chosen for my senior year. Nowelle is so fun to be around. She made me feel comfortable the moment I showed up to my first photo shoot. Her energy is contagious.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My Mom nominated me because she is so proud of me. She is my biggest cheerleader. I love my mom.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to show others to not be afraid to stand out in a crowd. It’s okay to be who you want to be. You don’t have to look or act like everyone else around you. Never sacrifice your values to be liked.

My dream job would be to work with expecting mothers doing ultrasounds .

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?

She is also deeply involved in her school and participates in Softball, YoungLife, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and DOLLS (Daughters of Our Living Lord and Savior). Photography by Jennifer McHam Photographer
What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
Bella has severe dyslexia, and school has never come easily for her. Despite that, she proudly maintains a 4.0 GPA and continues to push herself to excel academically. She strives to be a role model for others and reflect Christ through her actions every day.

What else would you like to talk about? Current goals and projects your working on are always interesting!
Bella recently began working in sports broadcasting for her school, combining her love for athletics and communication. She’s quickly discovered a passion for sharing the excitement of the game and connecting with her school community through her broadcasts. This experience has inspired her to pursue a future career in sports broadcasting, where she hopes to continue telling stories that bring sports to life.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Bella has a deep passion for Christ and strives to live out her faith in everything she does. She loves sharing the gospel and encouraging others to grow in their relationship with God. Whether through service, friendship, or everyday actions, Bella’s heart for helping others shines brightly, reflecting her genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
Jennifer McHam Photography has been my lifelong photographer, and there’s truly no one who captures the essence of who I am better than she does. Every photoshoot with her is creative, fun, and professional—she has a gift for bringing out genuine moments and turning them into timeless memories.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of Bella’s favorite memories with Jenny McHam was a photoshoot from when she was little. It took place in the woods, where she sat on a wooden horse wearing a big, flowing dress that made her feel like a princess. She and Jenny couldn’t stop laughing the entire time—it was a magical moment filled with joy and creativity, one she’ll never forget.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
It would be a tremendous honor to be considered an “Inspiring Teen.” To be recognized in this way would mean so much, as it reflects the values I strive to live by—faith, perseverance, kindness, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I were to receive the scholarship money, I would use it to help pay for college, where I plan to study sports broadcasting. This opportunity would bring me one step closer to pursuing my dream career and continuing to grow in a field I’m passionate about.

You’ve accomplished so much in your community—what first inspired you to start volunteering, and what keeps you motivated to give back?
I grew up watching my mom work for a nonprofit, so giving back has always been a way of life for me. From a young age, I saw firsthand how small acts of service can make a big difference in people’s lives. That really inspired me to get involved and find ways to help others. What keeps me motivated is knowing that through my volunteer efforts, I’m truly making a difference in my community. Seeing the smiles, the impact, and the hope it brings—it makes my heart happy and reminds me why serving others is so important.

How have your experiences with organizations like the LoveLife Foundation and the Burress Community Foundation shaped your perspective on service and leadership?
My experiences with the LoveLife Foundation and the Burress Community Foundation have really shaped how I see service and leadership. Through these organizations, I’ve learned that leadership isn’t just about taking charge. It’s about showing compassion, listening, and being willing to serve others first. I’ve seen how giving your time and energy can create real change and bring people together for a greater purpose. Working with these foundations has shown me that true leadership comes from the heart, and that even small efforts can have a big impact when you’re doing it for the right reasons.

School hasn’t always been easy for you because of dyslexia, yet you’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA. What strategies or mindset help you overcome those challenges?
Having dyslexia has definitely made school more challenging at times, but it’s also taught me how to work hard and never give up. I’ve learned to approach things differently—to slow down, stay organized, and find strategies that work best for me, like using technology tools, rereading assignments, and asking questions when I need help. Most importantly, I’ve learned not to let dyslexia define me. Instead, it’s motivated me to prove to myself that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA has taken determination and perseverance, but it’s also given me confidence and shown me that challenges can become strengths.

How has your experience with dyslexia influenced the way you approach your goals and encourage others who may face their own struggles?
Having dyslexia has taught me the true meaning of perseverance. I’ve learned that sometimes the things that take the longest and are the hardest to accomplish end up being the most rewarding. It’s shown me that hard work and determination can overcome just about anything. I also believe it’s important not to let our challenges define us. I’ve never shied away from telling people that I have dyslexia; it’s a part of who I am, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Because of my experience, I’ve been able to connect with and help others who face similar struggles, and even those with different challenges, with a giving and loving heart.

You’re involved in so many faith-based activities like FCA, YoungLife, and DOLLS—how have those groups strengthened your relationship with God?
Each group has given me a place to grow in my faith, surround myself with positive influences, and learn how to live out my beliefs in everyday life. Through Bible studies, worship, and serving others, I’ve learned to trust God more deeply and rely on Him through both the good times and the challenges. These experiences have taught me that faith isn’t just something you practice on Sunday. It’s something you live out daily through kindness, love, and how you treat others.

What does it mean to you to reflect Christ through your actions, especially in your everyday school and sports life?
To me, reflecting Christ through my actions means showing His love and light in everything I do, whether I’m at school, on the softball field, or just spending time with friends. People have actually nicknamed me ‘Sunshine,’ and I love that, because I really do believe a positive attitude can make a difference. I try to bring joy, encouragement, and kindness wherever I go so others can see God’s love through me. In sports, that means playing with integrity and being a supportive teammate, and at school, it means lifting others up and treating everyone with respect. I’m not perfect, but I try every day to live in a way that honors Him.

You recently started working in sports broadcasting—what do you enjoy most about being behind the mic and sharing the excitement of the game?
What I love most is getting to share the excitement and energy of the game with others. I love sports, especially football, so being able to combine that with sharing it with others has been such a fun experience. I enjoy capturing those big moments, the hits, the wins, and helping people feel like they’re right there in the action. It’s also taught me how to think quickly, stay positive, and work well with others. I love that I get to use my voice to celebrate my school, my team, and the athletes who give it their all.

How do you think your background as an athlete helps you connect with your audience as a sports broadcaster?
My background as an athlete definitely helps me connect with my audience because I understand what the players are feeling in those big moments. I know the pressure, the teamwork, and the passion that go into every game. That perspective helps me tell the story behind the plays, not just what’s happening, but why it matters.

What are your dreams for the future in sports broadcasting, and how do you hope to use your platform to inspire others?
My dream for the future in sports broadcasting is to work at a professional level where I can share the excitement of the game with a wide audience and highlight the amazing stories of athletes. I hope to use my platform to inspire others, especially young people who might face challenges like I have with dyslexia, to never give up on their goals. I want to show that hard work, passion, and a positive attitude can take you far, both on and off the field. More than anything, I hope to use broadcasting not just to entertain, but to uplift and encourage others to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.

What message would you share with other teens who want to live out their faith boldly while also pursuing their passions and goals?
My message would be to never be afraid to let your faith guide you, even as you chase your passions and goals. Living out your faith boldly doesn’t mean being perfect. It means showing kindness, integrity, and love in everything you do. I’ve learned that when you combine your talents with a heart for God, you can make a real difference in the lives of others and in your own life.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
Yes, I am, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of such an amazing group of girls. Our photoshoots are always a tremendous amount of fun, but being part of this team is about so much more than that. We are encouraged to give back, whether that’s volunteering together or finding ways to serve individually. I love working with Jennifer McHam Photography and hope to continue for years to come.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My ideal dream job would be to become a sports broadcaster, where I get to be on the sidelines, interview exceptional athletes, and share their stories both on and off the field. Being able to combine my love for sports with my passion for sharing with others would be a dream come true, and I hope to use that platform to inspire others to pursue their goals with determination and a positive attitude.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Yes, I would like to thank Jennifer McHam, who I think is amazingly talented and the reason I am being interviewed today. She not only captures the true essence of me in her photos, but she also encourages me and believes in me. I would also like to thank my family and friends who have supported me and voted for me. I truly appreciate your love, encouragement, and belief in me.

Jordan Malion - South Carolina
Nomination & Photography by Wendy Kovac Photography
Issue 96 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Jordan Malion is a high school senior from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A passionate performer, Jordan shines both on stage and in the band room—singing and dancing in local theater productions and playing the euphonium. Above all, Jordan’s faith is at the center of everything, guiding each step with love and purpose.
Photography by Wendy Kovac Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I am an honor student at Carolina Forest high school. I participate in the wind ensemble band class. We are recognized as one of the top high school band programs in the state of South Carolina playing all master works level music.

What else would you like to talk about?
A current project I am working on would be portraying the role of Meg in Phantom of the Opera with Myrtle Beach Area Children’s Theater. This will be my 13th performance with MBACT. I am not trained in ballet and the role of Meg is a ballerina. It has been challenging to learn ballet while learning my parts on stage. I have pushed myself to take more ballet classes to understand the role of Meg as thoroughly as I can.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about God and spreading his word by helping other teens through a club at my school called FCA. FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes where it allows me to spread the gospel during the lunch hour and have fellowship with other Christians my age. I took a class my sophomore year and became certified to become a leader to which I can share sermons during our lunch period.

What inspired you to get involved in local theater productions, and do you remember your very first role?
I was taking an after-school art class in middle school and the kids were talking about theater. I told my mom about it and she agreed to sign me up. I started out as a princess in the Little Mermaid Jr., and I have been there ever since.

How are you preparing physically and mentally for the role of Meg in Phantom of the Opera, especially since ballet is new for you?
I started out monologuing each part I sang in a song and each scene I was in. I wrote everything out and went through and wrote down my character’s feelings, purpose in that song/scene, and what she was thinking. To prepare physically I took ballet classes, stretched daily, and practiced for numerous hours at home.

How has being part of 13 productions with Myrtle Beach Area Children’s Theater shaped you as both a performer and a person?
It has shaped me as a performer and a person because it has taught me how to separate personal and professional in the theater world. I work with so many different personalities, beliefs, and attitudes. God has taught me to love everyone I come in contact with even if they don’t treat me well.

What drew you to the euphonium, and what do you love most about playing it in your award-winning wind ensemble?
I would say the euphonium chose me. I originally wanted to play the flute when I joined the band in sixth grade, but when we tested out instruments the euphonium was the only instrument I could make a proper note on. I love the sound it makes and how I can express myself musically through it. I love playing in the wind ensemble because it grows me to be a better musician daily since the expectations are so high.

How do you balance the demands of being an honor student, musician, and performer while still making time for your faith and friends?
I would say it is incredibly difficult. My circle has grown smaller because I don’t always have time to hang out with people. It’s definitely important to have friends who understand you aren’t always available and to always make time for God above all else. I’ve had to learn it’s okay to miss out on things because I love being a part of all these activities. I wouldn’t be the person I am without them.

You mentioned your faith guides everything you do — can you share a moment when your faith helped you through a difficult or uncertain time?
I’ve always been close with my grandparents and this year has been an especially hard year for us. My grandmothers on each side of my family have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and unfortunately do not recognize my family and I any longer. I have had to lean on my faith so I can remind myself that I will be reunited with her in heaven.

What inspired you to take on a leadership role in FCA, and what kind of messages do you enjoy sharing with your peers?
I wanted to center myself with a group of people at my school who were rooted in the same beliefs as me. I also wanted to be a resource for kids who haven’t had the opportunity to learn about God and who He is.

How has being involved in FCA allowed you to grow as a leader and deepen your faith?
Being a leader has made it easier for me to walk with God daily. In my classes and in the hallways I am expected to be fruitful and a representation of a saved Christian. This has pushed me to not only be this way in school but in my daily life. I remind myself constantly that I may be the only bible some kids read.

What lessons have you learned through music and theater that have helped you off the stage — in school, friendships, or leadership?
I have learned consistency, displacement, how to take positive criticism, and the importance of hard-work. I’ve also learned it’s okay to fail because mistakes are what lead to success.

What message would you share with other teens who want to use their talents and faith to make a positive difference in their communities?
I would tell them to pray about it first and to be bold in their faith and not to let the ways of the world distract them from following God. I would also say to know that most of the time the right thing is not always the easiest thing.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
I would love to be a disney princess in the parks or an actress on tv.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me. I would also thank my mom for her constant guidance emotionally and mentally. Without her I’d be at a complete loss of what to do or where to go. I would also like to thank God because He has blessed me with every single opportunity.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
When my mom was pregnant with my older brother she reached out to a photographer in our neighborhood offering newborn sessions. I met Wendy when I was a few days old and she took my first photos. Our families quickly became close friends. We have been blessed to have Wendy take all our family photos for the last 22 years. What I love most about doing photoshoots with Wendy is she makes it incredibly easy to be comfortable in front of the camera. She allows me to be myself with her and is willing to take risks.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Wendy is a photographer who is not only professional but also passionate about her job. You can see her passion through the time and effort that she puts into each photo that she takes. Wendy is also a sister in Christ and that shines through her work. She truly has a God-given talent and is able to see things through a special lens that the average person cannot see.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
It would be an honor to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine in hopes that I would inspire other teens to have the courage to speak up about their faith and to do what they truly love. In the world today with so much turmoil and uncertainty, it is vital that teens feel comfortable to speak their truth and not conform to the ways of the world but to stand up to for what they believe in.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win the scholarship I choose to use the money towards college. When I graduate I plan to become a Diagnostic Sonographer. I know the fees and textbooks along with college funds will be extremely expensive. If I win the scholarship I know that it would help towards my finances to reach my goals of helping others in the medical field.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
I would most definitely be at Disney World pin trading, Disney bounding, eating, or going on all the rides.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to go to New York in February with a group of kids and teachers from my theater. We are planning on seeing three broadway shows and taking broadway-level classes.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
I would say my junior year of high school was my hardest year educationally and mentally. My best friend and I have been side by side since pre-school but she decided to make a choice for her future and transfer schools. I was very proud of her but scared to face the reality of making new friends. Now looking back I am so glad God gave me the opportunity to branch out to people and allow us to grow our friendship..

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself graduating college, working in radiology, and hopefully starting a family.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I would say I am inspiring because of my ability to have faith through everything. I truly hope when people get to know me they feel the love of God through me because that is my ultimate goal. My purpose is to be used as a vessel for whatever God has planned for me.

Courtney Krueger - Minnesota
Nomination & Photography by Melissa B Photography
Issue 96 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Courtney Krueger is the kind of person who lifts up everyone around her. She’s kind, funny, and smart—always bringing positivity to her friends and showing what it means to be a loyal, supportive teammate. Courtney also shines as a member of her school’s trap shooting team, where her dedication and determination really stand out. She’s an all-around inspiring young woman, and I believe she deserves this recognition.
Photography by Melissa B Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments were not highlighted in your nomination?
I am a hardworking, organized woman with a strong work ethic, deep family values and strong faith in God. Through this I have been and will be able to accomplish everything I set my mind to. I recently demonstrated these qualities going through the MNCAPs (Minnesota Center for
Advanced Professional Studies) Trades Program, in my junior year of high school to learn about the many different jobs in the Trades industry through hands on experience. As well as business skills, teaching me many things I will take with me into everyday life.

What would you most like to talk about?
My current goals are set on strengthening my relationship with God through worship and Bible study. I'm also currently working with my parents in our family business Krueger Excavating Inc. I am gratefully able to get more time to do this through a Diversified Occupation class in my high school where once I finish my needed classes for the day, I'm able to leave early and head to work. I work under my mom's guidance and learn responsibility and how to be a confident woman to help me one day take over the business. Which is one of my long-term goals and is something I enjoy learning to do.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I'm passionate about and love to talk about many things some being God, my family, learning history, business and whatever book I'm currently reading. I love learning all I can about these things from studying my Bible, spending time with my family, reading a variety of books whenever I get the chance to and staying up late with my dad to talk about business, economics and how the world works.

What first inspired you to get involved in your family’s business, and what have you learned from working alongside your parents?
My parents themselves inspired me, as I grew up watching them build the business and how much work they put into it and what they have been able to build. It’s not just a job that they have to go to but something they made themselves and I knew from a young age that’s something I wanted to be a part of. I have learned many things from working with them, but I think the biggest thing is having a good work ethic. If you want something you have to work for it no one is going to do it for you.

How has your faith influenced the way you approach both work and everyday challenges?
My faith has influenced me in the way I approach work and everyday challenges is through the peace of knowing Gods with me. I used to struggle with anxiety that would affect me daily but since finding God and growing my faith, I have almost no anxiety and am able to go through work and life much easier because I don’t worry about every little thing or overthink everything I do.

What has been the most valuable lesson you’ve taken away from the MNCAPs Trades Program experience?
The most valuable lesson I have learned from my MNCAPs Trades Program is networking. The importance of building relationships with people and not burning bridges, even if you think you’re never going to see that person again. It’s a small world and you never know who knows who and how an experience of working with someone could affect you later.

You mentioned wanting to one day take over Krueger Excavating—what does that goal mean to you personally, and how are you preparing for it now?
The goal to me personally means owning part of the business and running the business so my parents don’t have to. I’m preparing for this now by learning what my mom does in the office so that I can help with her workload and come up with ways to make things more efficient. Being a small business means one person plays many different roles and by integrating me into the business we’re able to have more specialized roles to help us grow. I hope to continue learning not only what my mom does but also the ins and outs of the business and how it all works.

How does being part of your school’s trap shooting team help you build confidence, focus, or leadership skills?
Being a part of my school’s trap shooting team has helped me gain leadership skills through, helping kids newer the team during practices and tryouts, which in turn as given me more confidence as a trapshooter and leader. I also try to help instill responsibility and confidence through example and help encourage more girls into the sport.

What do you admire most about your parents’ work ethic, and how do they inspire the way you view success?
What I admire most about my parents’ work ethic is their ability to get things done and adapt when needed. They inspire the way I view success through showing me success isn’t just how much you have compared to another person because someone is always going to have more than you and someone is always going to have less than you but appreciating what you have and not taking it for granted while still working towards your goals.

You said you enjoy talking with your dad about business and how the world works—what’s one conversation that really stuck with you?
Something that really stuck with me is not necessarily a singular conversation but something we often talk about which is the importance of saving money and not spending it freely because you never know what is going to happen and need to make sure you have enough to cover your expenses as well as pay employes and benefits.

When you think about the future, how do you hope to blend your love for faith, family, and business into your life and career?
I hope to blend my love of faith, family and business into my life through continuing attending church on Sundays and eventually starting a family on my own and instilling those values. Family values are already very strong in my career because my family business is run like a big family even with our other employees and that’s something I want to continue.

If you could give advice to other young women who want to enter a male-dominated industry like the trades, what would you tell them?
Don’t be afraid. Be confident but not cocky. Though in some areas it will be harder and different then what your used to due to being a woman don’t let that be the reason or blame for all challenges that may come your way. Learn and work hard just like anyone else.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found my photographer through a friend when she got reached out to by Melissa because she was looking for dancers for a photo shoot. Which led us to hire her for my brother's graduation pictures a couple years ago now mine! I love how kind she is and how comfortable and confident she made me feel when I was getting photographed.

What is a favorite memory you have with the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory with her would have to be going back to the first time I met her in that dance photo shoot. She was able to capture such special moments with me and my friends. Even though I don't do dance anymore it is such a blessing to be able to look back at those photos and remember those sweet days in dance and memories made with those friends. With it being all our first time in front of a camera for a photo shoot she was able to make each of us feel and look amazing.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in the Inspiring Teens magazine to inspire young girls to follow their passion. Even if it means leaving a sport you have done your whole life to discover the love of a new sport and not be afraid to do things in a mostly male dominated field. Similar to how I have through leaving dance to become a trap and skeet shooter and joining the Trades program last year where there was only a handful of girls in a class of about 45 kids. Doing these things gave me great experiences and memories I wouldn't trade for anything.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win, I will use the money to save or continue my education in a way that will specifically help me learn to run an excavation business, by taking a variety of online classes or courses so I can continue to do on the job training from my parents.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Id like to thank my parents for raising me to be confident, smart young woman, my sister and brother for always being there and my photographer Melissa for the nomination.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would probably find me in the gym working out, reading a good book or spending time with family.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
I’m not sure what that is because things always seem hard before you do it and it’s just something you have to work through and get done because there’s always going to be another challenge and once your through it you’ll realize it wasn’t as hard as you thought.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Work hard, be confident, have faith and have self-respect.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself married, with kids and a bigger role within my family business.

3 Things on your bucket list
Get married, have kids and go to Hawaii

Who do you find inspiring?
My Dad due to how he built Krueger Excavating from the ground up and his role in my life as a supporter and someone I can go to for anything whether that be for help with something or advice I know he will be there for me.

Photography by Buffy Jones Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I take great strides to do my best academically. I have maintained a straight A, 4.0, grade average since kindergarten. I plan to major in corporate law after high school.

What else would you like to talk about?
My current goal is to get a job working with the public so I can gain real world experiences.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I love politics! I find it fascinating how historical politics have changed yet remained the same over the years.

You’ve maintained straight A’s since kindergarten—what drives your commitment to academic excellence, and how do you stay motivated year after year?
I’ve just always felt it was my responsibility to do my best as a student. So, from a little kid up, I realized that when I put in the effort, I could achieve good grades. As I went from grade to grade, I continued to strive to do my best because I knew I could achieve it.

What sparked your interest in pursuing a law degree, and what draws you specifically to corporate law?
I chose to major in law because I find it interesting. I also think my detail-oriented personality will fit it well. I chose corporate law because I like the idea of learning about businesses and how they work.

You’ve been involved in so many activities like gymnastics, dance, piano, and volunteering at church—what have these experiences taught you about yourself?
Each activity taught me a little about my strengths and weaknesses. They also taught me how to enjoy interacting in different environments.

What do you enjoy most about helping with the children’s Sunday school class, and how has that experience impacted you?
My favorite thing about helping wit the children’s Sunday school class is helping the kids with crafts. It’s always fun! This experience has taught me how to have patience and not cry over spilled milk.

You said you love politics—what about it fascinates you the most, and how do you see that interest connecting to your future in law?
I’ve always been interested in politics because it’s so relevant. It not only shapes my world but the world of those I love. This connects to my future in a law career because law and politics go hand in hand.

Your family was mentioned as such an important part of your life—how have they influenced who you are today?
My family is the center of my life, and knowing I have their support allows me to feel confident in pursuing my goals.

What advice would you give to other teens who want to achieve their goals while staying grounded in kindness, faith, and family like you do?
You have to stay authentic to who you are and not become so goal focused that you lose sight of your values.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me at the beach with my toes in the sand.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
Hopefully in five years I’ll be pursuing a master's degree in law.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?

3 Things on your bucket list
1. Complete law school
2. Get married and start a family

A family member recommended her. The experience was relaxed and fun. Buffy made me feel comfortable in front of the camera and kept me laughing.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Buffy Jones is very kind and talented.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
It’s totally out of my comfort zone! This was my first photography session since I was 8 years old. I typically am very uncomfortable being photographed, but Buffy’s pictures made me feel relaxed and well photographed. This is a whole new mindset for me!

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
Totally go toward my college career!

Issue 96 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Anna is one of the most determined and hard-working young women I know. She approaches everything she does with intelligence, confidence, and heart. Anna gives her all and inspires those around her with her dedication and drive. She doesn’t wait for opportunities, she creates them. I am so proud of the smart, compassionate, and resilient young woman she’s become, beautiful inside and out.
Photography by Angie Read Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
My civil engineering internship gave me hands-on experience working on real projects, where I learned about design, problem-solving, and teamwork in a professional setting. It helped me develop practical skills and a deeper understanding of the field. Being part of both the Spanish National Honor Society and the English National Honor Society reflects my passion for languages and academic excellence. These experiences highlight my hard work, ambition, and versatility across different areas.

What else would you like to talk about?
Currently, I am working on my college applications to pursue my dream of becoming a civil engineer. I have always been passionate about going to college and making my parents proud, so I am looking forward to taking this next step towards becoming a young adult. My biggest goal at the moment is to finish all of my classes strong, and set a good example for my younger siblings, Makenna and Luke.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
One of my biggest passions at the moment would have to be investing in the stock market. With my parents’ help, I am able to go on the stock market and assess the line charts in order to see which stocks I may want to buy or sell. I think this is a great way for young people to get first hand experience with the global economy while also establishing savings.

What first sparked your interest in civil engineering, and how did you know it was the right career path for you?
My interest in civil engineering actually started from watching videos from software programs like Solidworks and AutoCad online. I thought the way engineers were able to design structures and make them become a reality was very alluring. I took particular interest in civil engineering because the field is not only focused on the economy, but also fundamentals of engineering that play into politics and the natural environment.

Can you share a memorable project or challenge from your civil engineering internship that taught you something valuable?
My favorite engineering project that I participated in during my internship had to be when the group helped the engineers at Bleyl (Conroe, Texas) to calculate elevations needed to for drainage at a storage facility. This was my favorite part of my internship because it highlighted the importance of collaboration needed for projects. This was also a great experience because it allowed the interns to evaluate real work that we could be doing in the future.

You mentioned being in both the Spanish and English National Honor Societies — how has your love of languages influenced the way you think or communicate?
I think being well versed in two languages would be very helpful to anyone. Living in Texas, there is a lot of Hispanic- American influence around me, so it has been useful to sort of adapt to a different culture while it is also associated with my own. I find it interesting to learn about new cultures and especially study languages that make communication with people more effective. Participating in these groups allows me to communicate with a multitude of people from different backgrounds, and I value that because I believe we should always be open to learning new things.

What do you enjoy most about the process of setting goals and working hard to achieve them?
The thing that is most valuable to me when I achieve a goal would probably be the feeling I get when my parents tell me they are proud of me. Being successful in something is rewarding in itself but when it is recognized by the two people in the world whose opinion matters most to you, it feels like the greatest accomplishment ever.

How do you balance your academic goals, extracurricular commitments, and time with family and friends?
The main thing that I would say helps me maintain a balance between work, school, family and friends, and extracurricular activities would definitely be the idea of time and place. I do my best to do all of my classwork and homework if I have it in school, although having a rigorous and demanding workload does make that challenging. I also try to set a good balance of how many hours a week I work in order to make time for other things in my life such as family, friends, and school activities.

You said you want to set a good example for your younger siblings — what lessons or values do you hope they learn from watching you?
The most important lesson that I hope my siblings learn from me would be the value of their minds. One thing that I personally struggle with is being too competitive when someone understands or knows how to do something that I don’t. In the past, this has made me upset and compare my abilities to others, but now I feel more comfortable being wrong or not being able to do some things. I hope my siblings learn from me that everyone is unique in their own way, and that their skills and personalities are valued, appreciated, and loved.

What have you learned about yourself through the college application process so far?
I would say the main thing I have learned about myself throughout the college application process so far is that Houston will always be home to me, but also that I should be more geographically optimistic. I feel as though Houston could offer me any opportunity and can give me the chance to succeed in whatever I put my mind to. When I first started applying, I had schools set all over the world from Arizona to New York. Throughout the application process, I became more optimistic to go about more experiences and places. I learned I want to experience may even be something outside of Houston.

Your interest in investing is so impressive! What drew you to the stock market, and what advice would you give to other teens who might want to start learning about it?
I was first introduced to the stock market in my 8th grade business class. My teacher had us use a simulation program to learn how the stock market works. I learned how to estimate when to buy and sell a stock and which stocks will do well considering current social and political conditions.

Who or what inspires your strong work ethic and drive to create your own opportunities?
Something that inspires my work ethic would probably be the idea my future family would have of me. When I have children, I want them to know their mom does whatever she can to give them everything they want and need. I want them to know that their mom is hardworking, resilient, and educated. I also want them to know that doing whatever it takes to set yourself apart from peers will never be a bad thing. When you are passionate about something, it is shown through your actions and your willingness to do hard things.

Looking ahead, how do you hope to use your education and experiences in civil engineering to make a difference in your community or the world?
Once I become a civil engineer, I plan to use my degree to make a difference in my community by making extraction of oil and gas safer and more efficient. This would be beneficial not only for companies, but also for the environment.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job would definitely be to work as a civil engineer with my PE (professional engineering license) in the oil and gas industry. I have always been interested in engineering, specifically offshore and oil and gas principles because I grew up around it , and I am still passionate about someday pursuing a career in that. A big part of why that is probably has to do with my dad, I look up to him and I think the work he does is helpful to the economy and is very interesting.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found my photographer, Angie, on Instagram. Throughout my junior year, I would see posts from girls from my school who worked with Angie. Immediately, I fell in love with her work. When the time came to apply for her team, I had no hesitation. When I work with Angie, I feel confident, relaxed, and natural. She makes the whole experience amazing while also building a relationship with each of her clients.

Tell us about the program you are in at Angie Read Photography. Why did you join, what experiences have you had, and what are you looking forward to next?
The program that I am in with Angie is called Power Team 2026. This is essentially a group of high school senior girls who get together to take pictures, do volunteering, and participate in group activities. Not only is this group for modeling, but it also is great in helping the community by building a healthy environment and fostering good social skills in young adults. I love being in this group because it has allowed me to meet new people, visit new places, and be able to express myself through modeling.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory with the person who nominated me, my mom, would probably have to be the nights when we just sit out on our porch and talk about anything. We can talk about good things, funny things, and sometimes even bad things. She might not know how much I enjoy those nights, but it truly does make my heart happy. I admire my mom’s kindness, and ambition and I hope to be a sliver of what she is one day.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because I believe it would be a great way for me to express my passions, share my platform, and reach out to others. Being in this magazine would be an amazing opportunity for me to connect with other young adults who share similar passions, while also highlighting how I am an inspiring teen.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I do win the scholarship, I will definitely put the money towards school. College is expensive and this money would be a huge blessing for me and would help tremendously with my dream of becoming an engineer.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my family for helping me get to where I am today. Thank you to my mom, Ashley, for teaching me how to be strong in every aspect and to try again even when I fail. Thank you to my dad, Brad, for showing me how to make the best of any situation and teaching me that it’s okay to be wrong. To my sister, Makenna, for treating me with unconditional loyalty. My brother, Luke, for inspiring me to be more outgoing and kind.

Trystan Demott – Texas
Nomination by Erin
Photography by Forever Maui Ritz Carlton, HI
Issue 95 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Trystan has been there for me since day one. If I ever need anything help with schoolwork or just someone to listen to, she's always there. Before I had therapy, I had Trystan. No matter how much she goes through, she never lets it stop her from supporting others. She is one of the most passionate people I know. If she wants something, she’ll strive for it, even if it’s brand new. I am inspired to have the fire she has, and I love her so much she’s my closest friend!

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
Passion is one of my defining traits, and for me that passion shines brightest through FFA. It has shaped who I am and continues to drive me forward. I work hard to balance school with my goals, striving to stay on top academically so I can earn acceptance into Texas State University. Beyond my own ambitions, I want to be known as someone who genuinely cares for others and gives her all in everything she does.

What else would you like to talk about?
Outside of school, I dedicate time to volunteering through the NHS, which has allowed me to give back and grow as a leader. I also gained valuable experience as a cheer coach for two years, where I learned patience, responsibility, and how to inspire younger athletes. More recently, I started working as a retail stylist at American Threads, which has taught me professionalism, teamwork, and customer service. Each of these roles has shaped my work ethic and strengthened my passion for connecting with and supporting others.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am deeply passionate about philosophy it’s something I could talk about endlessly. I love exploring life’s biggest questions and learning how different thinkers have tried to understand the world and human nature. Philosophy excites me because it connects to so many areas, from ethics to politics, and it challenges me to think critically. I also enjoy history, because it shows how ideas, cultures, and events have shaped the present. Together, they fuel my curiosity and are what I want to pursue in college.

Your passion “shines brightest through FFA.” What supervised agricultural experience, contest, or chapter project are you proudest of, and what did it teach you about leadership and grit?
I am most proud of being part of Barnyard Buddies, a program in Waller County where we pair with a child with special needs and spend the day together. It’s one of my favorite events of the year. It has taught me patience and reminded me how different everyone can be, but also how much we are the same. That experience always inspires me to lead with compassion and empathy.

You’re aiming for Texas State University. What do you hope to study there, and how do you see FFA/NHS/cheer shaping the way you’ll get involved on campus?
I plan to double major in Philosophy and Political Science. While many of my high school activities may come to an end, the lessons I’ve learned from FFA, NHS, and cheer will stay with me. FFA taught me leadership, NHS taught me service, and cheer taught me perseverance. Together, they’ve shaped the way I’ll get involved on campus through leadership roles, service opportunities, and community-building.

Friends describe you as the person who shows up no matter what. Tell us about a recent moment you were that steady support and how you protect your own energy while caring for others.
I try to live by the rule of treating others how I want to be treated. A recent moment was being there for a friend who was going through something tough. She needed someone to listen, so I made sure to show up. Protecting my own energy can be hard, but I remind myself to set boundaries when I need them. I know I can’t pour from an empty cup, so I focus on balancing care for others with care for myself.

You’ve coached cheer and now work as a retail stylist. What’s one skill from each role (coaching and customer service) that you use every day in school or life?
From coaching, patience is the biggest skill I’ve carried with me. It helps me stay calm in school, even when I’m not in the headspace to learn. From retail, I’ve learned how important it is to help out wherever needed, even with small tasks. Both roles taught me that small efforts can make a big difference for others.

When you decide you want something, you “strive to get it,” even if it’s new. Share a time you jumped into something unfamiliar—how did you learn fast, and what surprised you?
When I decided to become an FFA chapter officer, I had no prior plans to pursue it. But once I realized it was something I wanted, I went all in. I even traveled alone across multiple flights just to attend FFA convention, because I knew I had committed to it. What surprised me most was how much confidence I gained from stepping out of my comfort zone.

NHS service hours can blur together unless you’re intentional. Which volunteering experience changed your perspective the most, and what impact did you see (or measure)?
Helping with special needs students changed my perspective the most. It opened my eyes to how differently people think and live, but also how talented and kind they are. I realized that supporting them isn’t about doing things for them, but being present and learning from them too. That experience left a lasting impact on me.

Philosophy lights you up. Pick a big question and tell us how your view has evolved.
I’ve often thought about the question, “What does a good life look like?” For me, a good life is one filled with mistakes, regrets, and lessons. You can look back and wish you’d changed things, but those experiences are what shape who you are. My regrets have taught me resilience and helped me grow into the Trystan DeMott I am today.

History helps you connect ideas to real people and events. Which era or figure fascinates you most, and how does that interest influence your leadership or decision-making today?
I’m fascinated by the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians their cultures and innovations continue to influence us today. Learning about their successes and failures shows me the importance of vision, adaptability, and community. As a leader, I try to take lessons from history: thinking long-term, respecting traditions, but also being open to change.

Balancing academics with goals is a point of pride. What systems keep you on track—especially during busy FFA or drama weeks?
To stay on track, I rely on writing everything down either in a planner or on simple sheets I can check off. This system helps me balance my schoolwork, FFA events, and work schedule. Breaking things down into small steps makes big tasks less overwhelming. It also keeps me accountable when life gets busy.

If you could design a small community project that blends FFA, service, and your love of big ideas (philosophy/history), what would it be—and how would you know it worked?
I would create a mentorship project where FFA students teach elementary kids not just about agriculture, but about leadership, history, and ethics. Each student would plant something, care for it, and also reflect on how growth takes patience, responsibility, and teamwork. I’d know it worked if kids could explain not only how their plants grew, but also what they learned about themselves and others in the process.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
My first professional photos were taken in Hawaii, but the photographer who means the most to me is my friend Tessa. We met when I was a freshman and she was a junior in choir at Concordia Lutheran. Now, as a senior, it feels full circle that she’ll be taking my homecoming and senior photos. What I love most is the meaning behind it—capturing this milestone with someone who has been part of my journey.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My best friend Erin has been in my life since I was three and she was four we grew up together at church and stayed close ever since. One of my favorite memories is the summer before senior year, when we spent nearly every day together. Our go-to was always Swig or In-N-Out, and those simple moments became some of the best times. What means the most is knowing we’ll cheer each other on at graduation, even if we’re at different schools. Erin has truly been with me through it all.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I first noticed Inspiring Teens Magazine as a freshman, when a girl at my school, Hailey Hunter, was featured. I thought it was amazing to be part of something that highlights teens making a difference. Fast-forward to now, I feel honored to be nominated myself. I want to use this opportunity to inspire others and show that hard work, passion, and staying true to yourself can take you far.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I would use it to support my college expenses. While my parents have generously offered to help, I want to take responsibility for my future. My plan is to save the scholarship funds for housing, so I can afford an apartment by sophomore year. That would ease the financial burden on my parents and allow me to be more independent.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
To be the head lawyer at my own firm.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you get where you are today?
First, myself because believing in myself was the first step. But mostly my mom, who has always been there. Even when I don’t share everything, she always seems to know what’s going on and says just what I need to hear.

What else would you like to talk about?
Being a welder and SkillsUSA Vice President, tend to spend much of my time in a metals shop. I build sculptures, and have taken home many metals for the sculptures I have built. As this is my senior year, I will be creating a moth, which is a symbol for growth and change as I enter my adulthood. This project is very special to me, so it will be a carefully crafted, year long project, that I have intention of displaying at the SkillsUSA state competition.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am extremely passionate in my faith. My faith is something that has held me up when I felt like I was falling apart. Turning towards my faith has saved my life, and because of that, I could spend several hours talking to anyone about my faith and how to get involved.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found my photographer, because he was previously located near my cabin in northern Wisconsin, and my brother, now 20, had his senior pictures taken from the same photographer. I loved how my brother’s pictures turned out, and insisted I had the same photographer to take my senior photos.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My favorite memory with my photographer was the whole session I had with him. You could just tell how passionate he was for his career. He had such a good attitude and was so kind and fun, his whole personality made the experience fantastic.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I think Inspiring Teens Magazine will provide a great way to become connected to more people and opportunities. Leadership and mentorship are things I am very passionate about, and any chance to improve my skillset is a good opportunity to take.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I am scheduled to finish my Business Management degree in only a year, and then plan to go back to school for welding. If I were to receive scholarship money, it would go directly to my education, so that I can make myself more eligible to stay a life long learner, and be able to share my education with others.

Your year-long welded moth symbolizes growth and change. What’s your design brief—materials, dimensions, joints—and which welding processes (MIG/TIG/Stick) will you use where, and why?
My project will be created out of 18-gauge steel, which is a generally thin metal type, and will have copper soldering for color and detail. The gauge size will allow me to hand shear the exact shape, without making it look too “perfect” because no moth is perfectly symmetrical; they are unique. The moth will be 8 inches from wing-end to wing-end, and then mounted on a piece of driftwood for a 3D effect. I plan to join the metal utilizing GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) because this process leaves a clean finish.

What sculpture taught you the hardest lesson so far—failure, warping, time overrun—and how did you iterate your technique (heat control, jigs, bracing) to solve it?
My most challenging project was a set of flowers. The flowers were made of 22 gauge steel and TIG filler rod. The flowers on their filler wire stems were welded onto a ½” piece of steel, and bent to have a “wild” look. This project taught me a lot of patience, because on several occasions I had wires melt, break, and metal thin too much from grinding. Due to these setbacks, I was making print changes the week of competition. However with patience and hope, I kept working hard and placed in the top ten of hundreds of state competitors.

You're the co-captain of the trap team. What are your current averages or personal bests, and which mental routine or cue word helps you reset between stations?
My current averages are around 22-23, and my personal best is 25/25. The best advice I have for nervousness on the line; find a song and between stations keep your mind free of stress by singing those lyrics in your head. This is my go to mental routine to stay focused and not get in my head about a good score. If your club allows, I also highly recommend earplugs with bluetooth capabilities. For many, like myself, music is a great way to just breathe and not worry about other things.

Faith is your anchor. How has it guided a tough call in the shop, on the line, or in leadership—and how do you build an inclusive vibe while living your values?
My biggest guide is God. I lean heavy into my faith when I get overwhelmed or feel like I am not successful in something I am doing. When I teach students in the shop, I use the approach of, “You can always improve, never doubt the capabilities you have.” However, sometimes the advice I give is hard to personally follow; that is where my faith picks me up. My faith has helped me approach situations with a level head and acceptance of whatever outcome may come from a situation.

Your free time spans vinyl, hunting, fishing, and thrifting. Pick one and tell us how it shapes your eye for design (e.g., conservation ethics, upcycling finds into art).
My vinyl collection and love for music has inspired me in several ways, especially in the shop. For example, I listen to a lot of music that worships God and glorifies my faith. This inspired me to build a 30 inch tall rebar cross, which I am now able to see everyday as a reminder of my faith and dedication to God.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My absolute dream job is to be a wife and mother. Family is very important to me, and I hope that one day I am blessed with my own family.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I want to thank my mom and dad. They have encouraged me to be involved and always reach for my full potential. Without them I would not be half as successful as I am today. They have always pushed me to keep going, even when things got difficult, they truly always supported me and helped me reach my dreams.

Photography by Fischetti & Co. Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I am an empathetic and reliable friend, daughter, sister, and peer. It is important to me to be a helping hand to my parents and a support system for my siblings. I strive to be a leader in school, specifically when doing projects or performing in school plays. I hold my friendships in high regard and have been extremely blessed to be surrounded by an amazing group of friends!

What else would you like to talk about?
Right now I have dedicated myself to finishing the golf season out as strong as possible, so then I can move into my last drama season. One of the final plays of my senior year is coming up, and I cannot wait to share this experience with my friends, and make the absolute most out of it!

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk about drama, and the theatre forever. I’ve loved watching musicals since I was a child, and I’ve been acting in plays since my freshman year of high school! This is one of the reasons why I wanted to have some of my senior photos done at Playhouse Square. I have so many wonderful memories of going there with my family to watch a musical!

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found Stef while searching on Instagram. I thought his pictures were absolutely gorgeous, and I knew that I wanted him to be my photographer! He is so unbelievably kind, and just made the entire experience so comfortable for me. I’m not always the most comfortable in the spotlight, so it was amazing of him to be able to work with me and help me have as much fun as possible!

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
Stef is extremely funny! Our entire session he was cracking jokes, and it all felt extremely natural. I honestly think that he is one of the kindest photographers I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want people to know more about who I am! I’ve never been nominated for something like this before, so it’s a new experience that I’m so excited to have a shot at. I’ve always enjoyed reading things about what kids my age are doing, and I’m really happy that it’s my turn to possibly share the spotlight!

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship I am planning on using the money to buy myself a laptop for college. I am extremely passionate about my education, and I’m working hard to put as much money as possible towards making sure I receive the schooling I’ve dreamt of forever!

You’re considering Field Biology or Scientific Illustration—what experience or moment first made you think, “I could build a life around protecting wildlife,” and how are you exploring both paths now?
Growing up, my sister and I were both extremely into shows like Wild Kratts, Zaboomafoo, and different documentaries on Animal Planet. Shows like those have always been extremely interesting to me, and the older I got, that fascination never went away. Our natural world is in dire need of protection, and I hope that one day I get to be the person to bring about that change. I’ve also been drawing since the moment I could pick up a pencil, so it only made sense to me to blend the two things I’m most passionate about into a career choice!

Scientific Illustration blends art and accuracy. Walk us through your process for illustrating an animal: research, observation, sketching, and how you decide what details matter most.
It starts simply with observation. I place down basic shapes with minimal detail. Then, I move into research. You can’t truly capture what it is you’re trying to draw without a sense of understanding why things look and move the way they do. Usually my sketches have notes written all around them, so I can make sure that everything is exactly as it needs to be, and so I can look back on them in the future!

Varsity Golf can be a mental game. What mindset or routine helps you reset after a tough hole—and where else in life does that routine help?
In this final year of golf, I’ve had one consistent mindset the entire time: Who cares? Thinking like that has helped my game improve immensely. Why should I ruin my entire season and/or match because of one bad shot? I’m here to have as much fun as possible, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I’ve noticed that as soon as I flipped my mindset to something more positive, my scores have been on an upward trend as well!

As a leader in drama, what’s one time you helped a castmate (or the whole production) through a challenge and what did it teach you about leadership under pressure?
One of my first memories of high school drama was being thrust into a stage hand role that was previously held by two people. During my freshman year of high school, a friend and I were stage hands for a production of Little Women, but right before the show she got sick and had to drop out. I then had to learn everything that she previously had taken care of, and add that on top of my roles. It was hard work getting the hang of it, but I knew I couldn’t let my cast down! In the end, it all came together perfectly, and I was extremely proud of myself. This taught me that no matter how hard something may seem, it’s my responsibility to try and make sure that the people around me aren’t let down.

You’re in AP Art and NHS—describe a piece you’re most proud of this year and the story behind it. How did feedback shape the final result?
The piece I’m most proud of from the start of this year is a portrait I painted of myself. It was the first project I’ve done for an art class that I didn’t use a grid or transfer paper. I simply freehanded the whole thing, and I’ve never been more proud of a project. It also means a lot to me because it’s a photo of me from curtain call during the first show I got a lead role in. Since this was a summer project, there wasn’t anyone I could really get feedback from. However, that just meant that I learned to trust myself to make mistakes and continue to try and try again until I was happy with the final product!

Huddle emphasizes faith and community. How do your values show up in everyday choices with friends, teammates, and castmates?
I try to be as kind as possible to everyone. I know what it feels like to be left out, and so I’ve promised myself to always be the person that people can come to when they need it most. It would be extremely hypocritical to try and teach others how to make good decisions and how to be kind, if I wasn’t practicing those things myself.

You value being an empathetic and reliable sibling and friend. Share a recent moment you’re proud of where you showed up for someone who needed you.
There isn’t one moment I can pinpoint, but I know for sure that I’ve dedicated this year to being my truest, kindest self. If someone needs something from me, I’m going to try my hardest to make sure they get it. I know what it’s like to not have someone that will drop anything for you, so I strive to be that for other people no matter what.

Your senior photos at Playhouse Square celebrate a lifelong love of theatre. What show or role most shaped you as an actor—and why?
The role that shaped me the most was actually multiple roles. During the first ever show I was cast in I was cast in two or three small roles at the same time. I had maybe ten lines all together, but it was the most fun I’ve ever had! This show showed me that continuing theater was possible, and just how wonderful our program truly is. After that show, I’ve never looked back, and have been in two shows a year since.

Imagine designing a small community project that connects kids to local wildlife (a citizen-science count, a native-plants garden, a sketch-and-observe club, etc.). What would you build and how would you measure its impact?
My first step towards making a change in my community would be to simply start a watch club. How can people decide they want to make a change too, if they aren’t familiar with what they’re trying to change. By simply getting out into the outdoors kids can see for themselves the beauty that lies there, and that’s where real change starts. Then, maybe one day there will be a new generation like me who find nature fascinating as a child, and then turn around and make a future out of protecting it!

With golf season wrapping and your final drama season ahead, what does a “perfect” senior finish look like to you—and what habits are you leaning on to make it happen?
I hope that my last week of golf is as fun as possible. I don’t plan on continuing playing for a team at the collegiate level, so this is my last chance to spend time with my friends playing a sport that we all love! As for drama, I’m in the rehearsal process for a show right now, and I can say with full certainty that I’m going to have so much fun. I want my last two shows to be ones to remember. I have so many friends in this department, so my focus for the rest of this year is to make as many memories as possible with my favorite people!

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?

In all AP and duel enrollment classes.. Was the I-8 conference 157lb champ for wrestling last year.

What else would you like to talk about?
Current goals and projects your working on are always interesting!
Current goal is the marines, I’ve already enlisted for a 8 year contract.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?

I could talk about wrestling or the Marines for a while.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?

Miame was recommended by Friends who have used her for photos and we’ve seen her amazing work on Facebook.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?

My mom nominated me, she is and has always been my number one supporter.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?

I want to be in the inspiring teens magazine because I feel that I am a person others can look up to as I’ve demonstrated great work ethic by getting good grades in school being a dedicated athlete and hard worker outside of school.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?

If I was to win a scholarship I would put it up to go towards furthering my education after the Marines.

You’re in AP and dual-enrollment classes while wrestling varsity—what concrete system (study blocks, sleep rules, phone limits) keeps you performing your best in both?
I set limits for myself and have a strict routine in place that allows time for studying and workouts to stay in shape.

Cutting/maintaining weight can be brutal. What’s your approach to nutrition?
My approach on nutrition while cutting/maintaining weight would be eating in a strict calorie deficit and eating clean.

What part of wrestling mindset (hand-fight pace, mat returns, chain wrestling, situational awareness) translates best to Marine Corps training, and how?
I believe that all parts of wrestling mindset translates to the marine corps training as it teaches discipline, perseverance and team work.

You’ve already enlisted for an 8-year contract. What drew you to the Marines specifically, and what MOS are you most interested in—and why?
What drew me to the marines was the structure and discipline. I am interested in 03xx in the marines, I want to partake in that training because they are the backbone of the marine corps fighting force and I feel that would be a great fit for me.

How are you prepping physically for boot camp right now (PT plan, ruck goals, run times, pull-up volume), and where do you want those numbers by graduation?
I am prepping physically for boot camp by building a solid plan of endurance and muscular strength. My daily 3 mile run is completed in 15 minutes and my pull up volume is 23. My goal is to maintain these numbers throughout my training.

Tell us about a setback—injury, tough loss, or academic crunch—that nearly threw you off. How did you course-correct, and who helped?
One setback I had that nearly threw me off was breaking a bone in my knee during a freestyle tournament and was not able to finish competing in the USA freestyle wrestling. I course-corrected it by getting care from my doctor and attending pt.

As an upper-weight conference champ, how do you mentor younger wrestlers in your room (drill habits, film study, accountability, team culture)?
As an upper weight conference champ I encourage the youth wrestlers to give it 100% when on the mat during practice as if they are competing.

Dual-enrollment gives you college credits early. How do those credits fit your long-term plan—during service, after service, or toward a specific degree?
College credits in the marines gives you a ranking promotion.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My ideal dream job would be a Michigan state police officer.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my parents for always being there and for their continued support.

Paris Santos – Indiana
Nomination & Photography by
Tawnya English/ Memories by Tawnya Photography
Issue 95 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Paris Santos is an inspiring teen from Eastside High School in Butler, Indiana. As captain of the varsity cheer team, she leads with spirit and positivity, lifting others with her energy and heart. Alongside dual credit courses and community volunteering, Paris balances academics and service with grace. Her dream is to become an ultrasound technician, specializing in prenatal care, fueled by her love for babies and desire to support mothers. Grounded in her faith, Paris finds joy in reading her Bible and helping others. She is a true role model whose kindness, dedication, and drive inspire everyone around her.

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments were not highlighted in your nomination?
One quality not fully highlighted is my ability to lead with positivity. As cheer captain, I’ve learned to encourage my teammates through both wins and challenges, making sure everyone feels supported. I also stay committed to volunteering in my community with different age groups, because I want to make a difference beyond school. My resilience is another strength—no matter what obstacles I face, I stay focused on my goals. These qualities show that I value hard work, kindness, and helping others succeed right alongside me.

What would you most like to talk about?
I’d most like to talk about my dream of becoming an ultrasound technician. I love the idea of being part of such an important moment for families by helping them see their little ones before they are born. I would also talk about how this career ties to my love for babies, my family values, and my desire to help others. It excites me to think about combining compassion with medical technology, and I would love to inspire others to follow careers that bring them true joy.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I feel passionate about cheerleading, because it allows me to express myself, build teamwork, and spread school spirit. As captain, I’ve seen how one person’s energy can motivate a whole group, and that inspires me every day. I’m also passionate about creating—whether it’s designing bows, senior parking spots, or spirit wear, I enjoy turning ideas into something that lifts others up. Beyond cheer, I feel passionate about my future career in healthcare, because helping others is something I could talk about forever and never lose excitement for.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I actually found my photographer through my mom, who connected me with someone she trusted. From the very beginning, the experience was amazing because my photographer made me feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. She understood my vision and captured my personality in every shot, which made the process fun instead of stressful. What I loved most was how she helped me see myself in a new light, reminding me that my smile and confidence are part of what makes me inspiring.
What is a favorite memory you have with the person who nominated you?
A favorite memory with the person who nominated me is the moment they told me how proud they were of me. They reminded me that my hard work, leadership, and dedication to my future were qualities worth recognizing. That conversation made me feel seen and valued, and it gave me confidence to keep pushing toward my goals. It wasn’t just about the nomination—it was about knowing someone truly believed in me and saw the impact I was making. That encouragement is a memory I’ll always carry.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because it would allow me to share my story with other teens and show them that big dreams are possible with hard work and determination. I hope to inspire others who might feel unsure about their future, by showing how I’ve stayed focused on my goals while balancing school, cheerleading, volunteering, and planning my career. Being featured would be an honor and a chance to use my platform to motivate others to stay true to themselves.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I would use the money to help pay for my education as I pursue my degree in ultrasound technology. I want to focus on my studies and training without adding financial stress to my family. This scholarship would bring me closer to my dream career, where I can help families see the joy of their babies before they are born. It would be more than just money—it would be an investment in my future, my goals, and the lives I hope to impact.

Nimisha Agarwal

Picture

Nimisha Agarwal - New Jersey
Nomination & Photography by Erinn Letts Photos
Issue 95 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Nimisha Agarwal, a standout student at the nationally ranked Bergen County Academies, is an inspiring teen whose leadership, service, and passion for healthcare shine through every endeavor. From volunteering at senior centers and supporting children with special needs, to leading Girl Scouts projects that reduce pediatric anxiety and uplift nurses, Nimisha consistently brings creativity and compassion to her community. She founded Calm for Cooling, partnering with a Tanzanian hospital to ship vital medical supplies, and completed hands-on clinical internships, as well as international service work. With excellence, empathy, and drive, she motivates peers to combine passion with service.

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
One of my proudest accomplishments is earning the Girl Scouts Silver Award for my “Teddy Bear Clinic” project. Partnering with Valley Hospital, I organized a biannual event that helped children feel less anxious about medical visits by teaching them care through their stuffed animals. I also led a collection of over 1,000 fidget toys for pediatric patients and created calming oils and personalized cards for nurses to support their well-being. This project reflects my commitment to both compassion and innovation, showing how small acts of care can create lasting comfort and impact.

What else would you like to talk about? Current goals and projects your working on are always interesting!
I’d like to share how curiosity and leadership guide my journey. Whether in a hospital, classroom, or community setting, I love taking initiative to solve problems and inspire others. Founding Calm for Cooling showed me how global collaboration can bring relief to patients thousands of miles away, while volunteering locally taught me the value of consistent service. I enjoy connecting people, whether through health advocacy, tutoring, or creating inclusive spaces. Looking ahead, I hope to merge my interests in healthcare, research, and innovation to make a lasting impact on communities worldwide.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I am passionate about healthcare and the power of service to transform lives. I could talk endlessly about how medicine is not only about science but also about compassion, connection, and trust. From volunteering with seniors and children to helping out with healthcare efforts abroad, I’ve seen how small actions can create meaningful change. I love exploring how innovation and empathy can come together to make healthcare more accessible and human-centered. This intersection of science and service continually inspires me and fuels my future goals.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to further my education and expand my community service projects. At Bergen County Academies, I’m pursuing a rigorous path in medical science, and this support would help cover academic resources, research opportunities, and future college expenses. It would also allow me to grow Calm for Cooling by sending more medical supplies to underserved hospitals abroad and funding local health initiatives. Most importantly, it would empower me to continue combining innovation and compassion, ensuring I can impact lives both locally and globally as I work toward a career in healthcare.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
The person who nominated me was my mother's medical school classmate's wife. This photoshoot was our first time meeting, yet I know exactly who she is and her children as I have watched them grow up through yearly holiday cards. It is ironic how even though we had never met before this shoot, and live half-way across the country from each other, there was an immediate sense of familiarity and warmth. It felt less like meeting someone new and more like

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine because it provides a platform to share my passions, leadership, and service with a broader community. From my work in Girl Scouts to research and health initiatives, I strive to create meaningful change and inspire others to take action in their own lives. Being featured would not only recognize my efforts but also allow me to connect with like-minded teens who are making a difference. Most importantly, it would give me the opportunity to encourage younger teens to dream big, stay curious, and use their voices for good.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to further my education and expand my opportunities to make an impact. It will help cover college expenses, allowing me to focus more on my studies and leadership initiatives rather than financial stress. I plan to continue pursuing research, community service, and projects like my Girl Scout Gold Award and global health initiatives. Ultimately, this scholarship would not only invest in my future but also multiply into the positive change I can create for others.

Kinsley Stevens – North Carolina
Nomination & Photography by Kaitlyn Butler Photography
Issue 95 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Kinsley Stevens is a very dedicated student to her craft of dance. She is very respectful and outgoing. No is never an answer for her, and she is always ready to be creative!

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments were not highlighted in your nomination?
I’m proud of my resilience, creativity, and courage. Through dance, I’ve found a way to share my story, express myself, and grow stronger through challenges. I’ve learned that determination helps me turn hard moments into opportunities, and that kindness can be just as meaningful as big achievements. I’m grateful for the support and encouragement I’ve received, and I hope to inspire others by staying true to who I am. My journey is only beginning, but I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and shining along the way.

What would you most like to talk about?
I’d love to talk about dance and how it’s helped me grow, not just as a performer but as a person. I’m really passionate about mental wellness for dancers because I know how important it is to feel supported and encouraged, especially when things get tough. I also love sharing about my experiences assisting at conventions and the lessons I’ve learned from being around so many inspiring teachers and dancers. Most of all, I’d talk about staying true to yourself, believing in your voice, and using your journey to inspire and uplift others.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I’m really passionate about mental wellness for dancers. Dance is so much fun, but it can also be hard sometimes, and I think it’s really important for dancers to feel supported and encouraged. My passion comes from my own experience overcoming bullying, which taught me how much confidence and kindness matter. I love talking about staying positive and helping dancers and others feel good about themselves. I want to use my voice to remind others that it’s okay to have tough days and that they can still keep going and shine.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I met Kaitlyn after she DM’d me and invited me to be part of her model squad, and I was so excited! Being part of the squad has been such a fun experience. I love getting to work with her, learning new things, and being part of something creative. It’s also helped me feel more confident. I’m really grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to keep learning and growing with the squad!

What is a favorite memory you have with the person who nominated you?
One of my most memorable moments with Kaitlyn was at a local park for a photoshoot. She spotted an area full of flowers and thought it would make an amazing shot. The only problem? It was full of bees! She asked if I was okay standing right in the middle, and I said yes… and bravely stepped in. It was over 90° that day, but we ended up with some incredible shots. Totally worth it! The day was so hot, but also so much fun. I’ll always remember that shoot!

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in an inspiring teen magazine because I love sharing positivity and encouraging others. I know how important it is for teens to see someone who is real, passionate, and working hard toward their goals. Being in the magazine would give me a chance to inspire others through my experiences in dance, advocacy for mental wellness, and staying true to myself. I hope my story can motivate other teens to keep going, believe in themselves, and find their own voice.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I received this scholarship, I would donate a portion to the Exhale Dance Convention because I love how they support pediatric mental health. The rest I would save for my dance conservatory training. I plan to attend a conservatory for a year before going to college, and this scholarship would help me focus on growing my skills and learning from amazing teachers. It would mean so much to have support for both giving back to something I care about and investing in my own journey of growth.

Nomination: Abigail Payne is a senior at Armorel High School. She is a member of Cheer, FBLA, BETA, Drug-Free, and Honors. Abby is a part of the Cassidy Sue Photography Senior Rep Team. She has a strong love for God and big plans for her future!

Photography by Cassidy Sue Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I am FBLA Vice President for my school and a Business Completer. One of my favorite things to do is make people laugh. In FBLA, I competed in a Job Interview competition that taught me a lot about communication and people-skills.

As FBLA Vice President and a Business Completer, what project or competition taught you the most about leadership—and what did you do differently because of it?
Ever since that FBLA competition, I have been more professional in the way I speak to others and have learned how to read body language.
What else would you like to talk about?
I love to spend time with my boyfriend, my family, and my dog. In my spare time, you can usually find me reading or painting.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I feel very passionate about Jesus! I could talk about how incredible He is for hours. I also feel very passionate about my love for animals. I believe there is nothing sweeter than the south!

You say you could talk about Jesus for hours. How does your faith guide your everyday choices at school and with friends?
My faith guides my choices at school by allowing me to cast any anxieties out that I may receive at school to the Lord. My faith helps me treat others with kindness and respect, because I aim to be more like Jesus everyday. I host bible studies and always remember to be thankful for any moments with my high school friend group. I know that these moments will not last forever and the Bible says to always have thanksgiving.

How have your business classes shaped your “big plans” after graduation—any entrepreneurial ideas already brewing?
My business classes have helped shape my plans after graduation tremendously. I want to go into the business force, and the classes I have taken have introduced me to the business environment and business etiquette. I plan to own my own business after college.

Animals have your heart—if you could launch a small community project to help pets or wildlife in your area, what would it be and why?
If I could launch a small community project to help the animals in my area, I would create a project that built dog houses around my town. I understand that I cannot save every single stray, but my heart breaks for any animal that has to sleep outside at night. I hate seeing animals outside with no shelter during a storm or cold day. If I had the chance to give them a place to sleep with a roof, I would build them frequently throughout my town.

“There’s nothing sweeter than the South.” What Southern tradition, food, or value feels most like home to you—and how do you hope to carry that into your future?
Southern values that feel most like home to me include community gatherings, the sweet tea, and activities when bored. I love our local community gatherings because I get to connect with everyone in my hometown and support any small businesses around me. These gatherings are filled with music and food that make my heart happy. I love sweet tea so much; no matter how up north I travel, the sweet tea is always better in the south. Activities that I personally love that we do in the south include riding ATVs down dirt roads, hunting, and fishing.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found my photographer, Cassidy, through Facebook. I saw she was local and I loved her photos, so I immediately booked a session with her. Ever since that first session, I knew she was going to be the one to do my senior photos. I am very blessed to be a member of her Rep team. I love getting closer with the girls and Cassidy every session. If I tell Cassidy a vision for a photo shoot, she makes it come to life! She always hypes me up and has become such a big impact in my life.

You’re on the Cassidy Sue Photography Senior Rep Team—what shoot or concept made you feel most confident, and what did you learn about personal branding from it?
The photoshoot with Cassidy Sue Photography that made me feel the most confident would definitely be my solo session with Cassidy. Any idea or pose I had, Cassidy brought to life. After so many amazing senior sessions, I learned that I like my personal branding to portray me as a warm, bright, feminine, and natural person. I enjoy the photos of myself that tell others how much I love nature and wearing dresses to match the beautiful location of my photoshoot. I try to aim for photos that show off my bold, friendly personality.

Tell us about the Rep Team you belong to at Cassidy Sue Photography.
Our Rep Team is made up of 13 amazing girls who come together to represent Cassidy Sue Photography. It’s all about making new friends, doing fun activities, and creating unforgettable memories with girls your age—all while repping Cassidy’s photography! From group shoots and creative sessions to bonding events and behind-the-scenes fun, this team is about more than just photos—it’s about community, confidence, and connection. My favorite thing about the Rep Group is building friendships with all of the amazing girls.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
A favorite memory with Cassidy would definitely be our first Rep photo shoot. The building was full of laughter and Cassidy let us take so many silly photos.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine for the opportunity for a scholarship and new adventures. I love trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone!

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to help pay for the multiple college degrees I am wanting. I take education and my future very seriously, and I know that this scholarship would help out tremendously financially.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank Cassidy Winberry for capturing my senior year for me, my family for always cheering me on, my sister for always giving me the best advice, and my boyfriend, Brayden, for being my number one supporter through everything.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
Up next for me that I am super excited about is applying for colleges!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Put your faith in Jesus because he will never fail you!

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
My hidden talent is that I can sing the entire Hamilton Broadway play.

Who do you find inspiring?
I find my mom and dad inspiring because no matter how many hardships they have faced, they never stopped providing the world for me and my siblings!

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I believe that my drive for success is inspiring. I say this because no matter what I am facing, I always am determined to do my very best at it. I believe that this mindset has helped me so much with my journey.

Addison Stratton

Addison Stratton – Texas
Nomination & Photography by Angie Read Photography
Issue 94 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Addison is inspiring because of the joy she exudes from working hard at her many interests. She is President of the mother/daughter charity organization -- Legacy League, co-captain on Varsity cheer, a student athletic trainer, oboe and sax player, National Honor Society member, and competitive and musical theater dancer. Addi has studied dance for 15 years and competed with her team for 10 years. She does all this while maintaining her grades to prepare her to study sports medicine in college. Addi gains strength from youth group studies, relationships with her friends and family, and giving back to her community.

Photography by Angie Read Photography

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I have many interests, and I am thankful I go to a school that allows me to spend time doing all of them. I am also thankful to my teachers and coaches for supporting me. I also started attending a youth group with some friends recently, and spending time with them studying my faith has inspired me to look beyond just my family and friends for support. I am so appreciative of meeting this group, pastor, and church.

What else would you like to talk about?
I am also inspired by my dance team and teachers. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. Being a dancer has taught me discipline and brought me some of my best friends who I know will be my friends my entire life. When I am dancing, I love to express myself in different ways on stage. My favorite style of dance is contemporary.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk forever about athletic training. I hope to work with athletes in training or sports medicine, and what I learn from our coaches and trainers at school motivates me to want to learn more. Athletes have to take care and recover their bodies on every level from little kids to elite professionals. I have learned through my own dancing how important it is to take care of your body and how an injury can set you back forever or for just a little while. I can’t wait to keep learning.

Your schedule spans cheer, dance, music, NHS, and Legacy League—what does a “busy but balanced” week actually look like for you, and how do you decide what gets priority when everything collides?
I have a set schedule each weekday where each activity has its place depending on the day whether it is cheer, football, band practice, game day routines, dance rehearsals, or volunteering. If it doesn’t go as planned, I give priority to where I have leadership responsibilities or receive a grade for attendance or participation. My teachers and coaches expect me to split my time evenly in those situations, and as long as I do that, I have their support.

Which teacher or coach has most shaped the way you see yourself as a leader, and can you share a moment or piece of feedback that changed you?
Alexa Thibodeax, my band director. She is so smart and so funny. She has a dry sense of humor, like me. She’ll call you out when you are slacking, but in a humorous way. A rule of band is we don’t not walk back to our sets during practice. One day I was walking, and she called me out. She said, “Addi, you are walking. I thought you were an athlete?” Everyone got a little laugh at my expense, but the entire band was reminded, we don’t walk. We run. It’s part of our discipline to be better.

You’ve found a wider support system through youth group—what lesson or conversation there has stuck with you, and how has it influenced how you lead or show up for friends?
My youth group has a group chat with the high school girls. It is another support system that is constantly there. If someone needs extra prayers, it’s a way to reach out at any minute. We can find out about people’s family or friends are doing, who are sick, who needs to be uplifted. We can be there for each other instantly.

You’ve danced since age three—tell us about a contemporary piece you loved performing: what story were you telling, and what did you learn from it?
My solo last year. I choreographed it myself to a song called Just Last Week, which was only spoken word. It is about how depression can seep into every part of your life even when you are not expecting it and can be so severe, it can lead to suicide. It taught me to be more aware of myself and my feelings in the moment. My most special award last year was when a judge gave me a personal award for my story telling, which was the entire point of picking that song.

What are a few team rituals or habits your dance team uses to stay grounded—mentally and physically—during competition season?
We pray in a circle before going on stage and sickle our foot (which dancers know can cause injuries when doing it on stage, so it’s just for the circle). My team also has a snack bucket just for us with our favorite snacks.

As a student athletic trainer, what are three simple injury-prevention or recovery habits you wish every teen athlete practiced—and how have you built them into your own routine?
(1) Always stretch. Never exercise with cold muscles. (2) Always have salt when doing cardio, specifically to recover from cramps. I personally like pickle juice. (3) Get enough sleep at night and eat well. Your body needs fuel.

Share a time you faced a setback or injury in dance or cheer. How did you approach recovery, and what did you change in your training afterward?
I dislocated my shoulder doing a stunt for cheer last year during a competition. My doctor and the trainers at school put me on a physical therapy program to recover, and I practiced my exercises every day. Unfortunately, I had to change my position in cheer to not risk permanent injury or surgery in the future. It is strange not being a base any longer for my last cheer season, but my coach supported this and has given me opportunities to try other things.

Looking ahead to sports medicine, which area currently fascinates you most (biomechanics, PT, athletic training, nutrition, etc.), and what steps are you taking now—classes, shadowing, certifications—to explore it?
Athletic training! I am a student trainer at school where I can learn hands on and am taking the athletic training class. I am applying to colleges with that type of major to further my education. I hope to also be a student trainer in college.

You play oboe and sax—how has musicianship (breath control, rhythm, phrasing) influenced your performance in dance and cheer?
It’s actually flip flopped; dance influenced my musicianship. Dance teaches you breath control, especially in lyrical dance when you have to breath at the right times and as part of the movements. Tap and jazz taught me rhythms and phrasing that can be used in playing my music.

As President of Legacy League, what project or event are you most proud of, and what did it teach you about servant leadership and working alongside moms and daughters in your community?
As President of Legacy League, I get to work with my mom to plan the monthly meetings and make sure the organization runs smoothly, but what I love the most is volunteering. My favorite is to call bingo for residents of a retirement community. This simple task means a lot to them. They appreciate us coming and taking time out of our days to spend with them. We volunteer in teams, and our moms are always there with us to make sure it runs smoothly. The residents are so funny. They really love their Bingo!

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
I found Angie because other dancers at my studio have used her for their senior pictures. I’ve known for many years that I wanted to use her because of how creative she is and how she brought out the most amazing features of my friends. I wanted that experience for myself, and I am so happy to have it.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My senior photographer, Angie, nominated me. My favorite memory so far is our beach photo shoot. My mom and I were looking forward to this photo shoot most, and it was everything we hoped. It did start to rain at the end, but Angie made it work. Angie is creative and always makes me feel at ease when she takes my pictures. I also love talking with her about any subject. She makes it easy to smile when I am with her.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.

I am part of Angie’s model team (Angie Read Photography). She has organized events for us, more than just pictures. We made cards for Meals on Wheels and will take a self-defense class. I joined with a friend from dance, but there are other girls from school who also joined. I have been able to meet more people I didn’t expect and have gained new friends.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine to share how amazing Angie is with others and to have a chance to say to others that if you have interests in and passion about many things like I do, you can do it. It takes focus and an organized calendar, but if you are open and honest with the groups you are involved with, they will support you and work with you. I know I will look back on my time growing up, especially in high school, and feel happy about all of my time, experiences, and friendships.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will put it towards college. I hope to go out of state to school, and I am applying for scholarships to help me do that.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
Head trainer for the Houston Texans.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
Thanks to God, first, for helping me find perseverance to do the things I enjoy. Also, thanks to my parents for helping me do all the things I want to do. They spend a lot of time and money on me.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I am the oldest of three sisters. We all dance at the same studio, so we spend a lot of time together. This year, for my senior year, we will compete a trio together. We've been waiting for my baby sister to be old enough, and for my last year, she finally is!

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
I would be watching a history documentary while doing a puzzle.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
College and rushing a sorority. My mom was in a sorority and made lots of friends when she moved away from home to college. I hope to find a place like that for me, too.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
Figuring out my skin care. I have eczema, and there is no cure, just ways to manage it. It’s a daily struggle. I have a great doctor and am thankful for advancements in medicine.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Do all the things that interest you, but be ok to take things off the list if you need to. Be open and honest with your teachers and coaches. If you need help, ask for it because no one can read your mind. And keep a planner!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I will have graduated from college and be in my first year of medical school.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
Puzzles and a good binge show.

3 Things on your bucket list
(1) Travel Europe; (2) live in a different county for a while; and (3) really learn another language, not just classes in school.

Who do you find inspiring?
Michelle Obama. She supports children, human rights, and has an accomplished career. She is smart, wholesome, and funny.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I appreciate what was said about me in my nomination. I don’t always look at myself that way, but I appreciate that others do. I am a master at managing my schedule, though

Photography by Laura Lynn Rhode Photography

You serve on the board of a mental-health nonprofit—what motivated you to take on that responsibility, and what’s one decision or project where your voice truly shaped the outcome?
I was motivated to accept this position because I’ve seen firsthand how mental health struggles impact teens, including myself, and I wanted to be part of the solution. It is always powerful to see how my perspective could make resources feel more approachable and less intimidating for others my age.

Tell us about a moment you helped reduce stigma at school or in your community. What did you do, and what changed for the people involved?
At school, I am a member of the Hope Squad- Peer Lead Suicide Prevention Group, where I started open conversations around mental health by sharing resources and encouraging peers to speak up without shame. By normalizing those conversations, I saw people become more willing to ask for help instead of staying silent. It reminded me how small actions—like starting the conversation—can create lasting change.

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
My energy, compassion, creativity, and empathy. I possess the ability to bring people together and uplift my peers with authenticity. I am not afraid to think outside of the box, take initiative, stand up for what I believe in, and chase my dreams with determination. My curiosity about the people and world around me fuel me and I hope to turn my passion for helping others into a lifelong mission.

What else would you like to talk about?
I would like to talk about the power of resilience and personal growth. Life doesn't always go to plan, but I have learned that challenges can shape you into a stronger and better version of yourself. I strive to use mistakes as lessons, staying motivated and continuing forward. I feel confident that I would not be the person I am today if it weren't for the experiences I've had, even the bad ones. Resilience is what allows us to grow into the best versions of ourselves.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
Anything related to psychology or the human mind. I love understanding why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. I could talk forever about how experiences shape us, how the brain processes things, and how mental health impacts everyday life. I enjoy learning new perspectives and learning how I can help others through compassion, support, and understanding. I view psychology as a way to make sense of the world and a tool to help others.

Share a challenge that didn’t go as planned. What reframing or habit helped you turn it into growth, and what did you learn about yourself?
There have been times when events or moments in my life didn’t turn out the way I imagined. Instead of seeing it as failure or a set back, I reframed it as a learning opportunity. I realized that not everything has to be perfect to make an impact, and that resilience is about adapting and moving forward. That mindset helped me grow more confident in myself.

When a friend opens up about mental-health struggles, how do you support them while keeping healthy boundaries and guiding them toward appropriate resources?
I listen first without judgment, letting them know they are not alone. Then, I encourage them to seek professional help or talk with a trusted adult, because I know I can’t fix everything myself. By being a supportive friend while also pointing them toward the right resources, I can care for them without overstepping my own limits.

You balance academics, athletics, and service with grace—what systems or rituals keep you centered on busy weeks, and how do you reset when things unravel?
I stay centered by keeping a routine, setting priorities, and making sure I carve out time for self-care, even if it’s just a few quiet minutes. When things get overwhelming, I reset by stepping back, taking a breath, reminding myself why I started in the first place, and what I am working towards. That perspective helps me regain balance and keep moving forward.

What’s a common myth about teen mental health you’d like to debunk, and what evidence or experiences have shaped your view?
A common myth is that teens who seem “happy” or “successful” don’t struggle with mental health. In reality, anyone can be going through challenges behind the scenes, no matter how put-together they look. Through my own experiences and those of my peers, I’ve learned that checking in on people, creating safe spaces to talk, and simply being kind is essential, because you never truly know what someone might be going through.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
Laura had done pictures for one of my friends and I loved how natural they looked. Since she is local, it was easy to connect with her and form the beginning of the experience she felt more like a friend than just a photographer. She made the entire experience comfortable and fun, helping me to feel confident and like myself in front of the camera. Her positive energy and genuine personality turned the session into more than just photos.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
My mother is the strongest person I know. She has endured countless setbacks and continues to try and be the best version of herself for her family. He resilience inspires me daily. She has taught me the value of hard work and determination. No matter the challenge she continues pushing forward, while still finding time to support me and my dreams.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine to motivate others by sharing my storing. This opportunity will allow me to inspire teens to overcome hardships, believe in their dreams, and keep pushing forward. More than anything else I want other teens to know that there is always more to their story, never give up. Each person creates their own path, and I want to show others that it is possible to do anything you put your mind to.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I will use the money to help pay for my education. College is expensive and this will help reduce financial stress and allow me to focus on my studies. My education is very important to me, and this will only help my dreams become more obtainable.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job would be working as a psychologist, specializing in helping teens and young adults navigate mental health challenges. I would love to create safe spaces where people feel supported, understood, and empowered to grow into the best versions of themselves. I would also potentially like to specialize in helping teens and young adults navigate grief after the loss of a loved one.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
I would like to thank my family for always being my biggest supporters. I would also like to thank my best friend, her strength, resilience, and constant encouragement inspire me every day. I’m also grateful to my teachers mentors who have believed in me and pushed me to keep chasing my goals.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I want to remind others that it’s okay to not have everything figured out right away. Life is about learning, growing, and finding your own path. Every challenge is an opportunity to build resilience, and every small step forward matters. Also, it’s okay not to always be okay, you are so loved, and your story is not over. Keep pushing, keep working to become the best version of yourself. I am proud of everyone one of you.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
I would likely be spending time with my family or friends, they make doing nothing feel like the best thing.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I’m excited to finish my senior year strong; enjoy all the special moments, and then prepare for college, where I’ll start my journey toward a psychology degree.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
Stay true to yourself, work hard, and never give up when things get tough—challenges make you stronger. Even when things get rough, it always gets better.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
In five years, I see myself in college, pursuing a psychology degree.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
I love fishing, it allows me to relax and spend time with my friends. There is also no better feeling than the feeling of a fish on your line!

3 Things on your bucket list
Travel to both Greece and New York City, go skydiving, and start a nonprofit dedicated to teen mental health.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I think others find me inspiring because I stay determined through challenges, and use my voice to make a difference.

Aditi Chhawacharia - Texas
Nomination & Photography by Anisha Keerthi
Issue 93 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Aditi Chhawacharia is a passionate student who uses technology to create positive change. She developed CyberBear, an online safety platform reaching 5K+ students in 45 countries, including 300+ rescued child laborers through school partnerships. She founded McKinney’s first Youth Tech Council, partnering with the local government to build tech for 200,000+ residents. Through her nonprofit Project Ruby, Aditi mentors 100+ girls in leadership and service. As President of her school’s Girls Who Code Club, she inspires younger students to explore STEM. Aditi has won international hackathons, is a DECA ICDC Finalist, and teaches programming to children.
Images by Ajay Chhawacharia

What inspiring qualities or accomplishments weren’t highlighted in your nomination?
I built a website for 3FTL, a Texas nonprofit supporting firefighters with PTSD, giving them easy access to mental health resources - now with 15K+ views and 4K+ users. As a research intern at University of Texas Human-Centered Cyber-Physical Systems Lab, I developed a posture recognition system that protects privacy by using WiFi signals and visual data instead of invasive wearables to monitor posture and reduce back pain. I’m submitting our paper to conferences this fall. I’m also a UC Berkeley AI Policy Fellow and have conducted independent AI governance research and debated AI risks with graduate students.

What else would you like to talk about?
I’d love to share my passion for blending technology with creativity. To me, coding is like art, you start with a blank canvas and build something that didn’t exist before. Whether it was planning out CyberBear’s interactive internet safety games on a Google Doc at 3AM or working on my latest app, I see tech as a way to bring imaginative ideas to life and help my community. My dream is to keep building tools that not only solve problems, but also inspire and connect people through innovation.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
At 12, I realized most CEOs among tech giants were men and watching movies with women empowerment would excite me. I learned only 10.6% of Fortune 500 leadership roles are held by women, a statistic that deeply bothers me. Many girls have so much to offer but often feel uncomfortable entering certain fields due to their environment. This inspired me to found Project Ruby, a nonprofit addressing the leadership gap by pairing girls with mentors (“big sisters”) guiding them to become confident leaders. We’ve mentored 100+ girls and connected 300+ with opportunities, empowering them to start their own initiatives.

CyberBear reached 5K+ students in 45 countries—how did you localize content and build trust with schools across different cultures, and what rollout tactic worked best?
When I reached out to schools in India focusing on teaching the underprivileged, they were interested but wanted content for children with limited resources. Many poor children don't have regular access to email or computers, but the child psychologist told me that a lot of the kids were on social media and the parents encouraged the behavior, thinking the kids are becoming "famous" but in reality are victims to lack of knowledge and harmful comments. Based on this information, I adapted and added new levels 4 & 5 to CyberBear focused on social media to help best change the lives of these students. To build trust, I had multiple meetings, sent them updates and asked them for advice and shared examples of impact statistics. Through this approach, I was able to partner with 3+ schools in India and teach over 400+ child laborers.

You’ve won hackathons and are a DECA ICDC finalist. Walk us through a project’s journey from problem statement to prototype to “go-to-market”—and one mistake you’d warn future teams to avoid.
When I launched Idore, my site for K-pop merchandise, the problem was clear: fans struggled to access trending items due to shipping and pricing. I built the site on Squarespace, integrated Stripe, and partnered with merchants across continents to make products accessible. It was my first time handling both the tech and business sides, and I learned as much from mistakes as from wins. My advice to teens: don’t wait for perfection. Release a simple version, get feedback, and grow step by step — perfection comes later.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
After winning my DECA Texas competition, my school wanted to honor all state winners with a post. Since I didn’t have a professional headshot, I arrived early one Monday morning, dressed in DECA attire: a blazer, white tank, and slacks. Our school’s Yearbook teacher runs a photography classroom, so I had a professional photoshoot there to get my headshot ready. I loved the experience because I had always wanted a polished photo for my LinkedIn profile, and this opportunity gave me exactly that. It made me feel confident and prepared for Internationals.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
The person who nominated me is Anisha, one of my best friends and a mentee in Project Ruby. What I love most is how she’s like a mini version of me, and how quickly we connected. Even though I’ve only known her for a year, it feels like much longer. We are so close and I love having so much fun in class together, how we laugh at literally everything, and working on goals together. Having her in my life reminds me of the impact mentoring can have and how meaningful those close bonds are.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I want to show to young women in STEM that anything is possible! In my tech journey, be it my CS classes or projects, I faced lots of social rejection and doubt. Many didn’t believe in me and looked down on me, not believing a girl could code projects or do coding competitions. Now, I hold 3 professional certifications, have partnered with schools and governments, and do numerous advocacy work. I would love to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine in the hope that I can inspire at least one girl to pursue STEM.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
If I win a scholarship, I'll reinvest every dollar into scaling CyberBear's impact globally. While my platform already serves 5,000+ users across 45 countries, millions of children and elderly worldwide remain vulnerable to digital threats. The scholarship money will fund multilingual content creation, partnerships with international NGOs, and development of advanced features like AI-powered phishing detection. I'll also expand our reach to underserved communities who need digital literacy most. Every dollar invested in CyberBear multiplies into thousands of people protected from online predators, scams, and misinformation worldwide.

Wearing both AI policy and builder hats: if you could pass one policy for K-12 districts about AI, what would it be—and how would you implement it so it helps teachers, not just adds rules?
AI is everywhere, and we can’t ignore it. If I could pass one policy, it would be for K–12 districts to vet AI tools and run pilot programs where teachers co-design how they’re used — for lesson planning, adaptive practice, or grading support. That way, AI becomes a real helper to both teachers and students, not just another mandate

Project Ruby pairs girls with “big sisters.” What training or playbook do mentors receive, and how do you track outcomes (confidence, leadership roles, launched projects) over time?
We pair girls with mentors who share their interests or fields, creating stronger connections. Progress is tracked through regular checkpoints, a shared spreadsheet, and mentee reports highlighting accomplishments. This helps us measure growth in confidence, leadership, and launched projects while identifying where extra support is needed. Above all, we are evolving.

What is your ideal dream job if it were offered to you today?
My dream job would be to found my own Technology company and serve as CEO, where I can constantly lead a team to make technology products that help people.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me working on my YouTube Studio. I love creating content as hobby.

What is up next for you that you are super excited about?
I’m really excited to be finishing high school and starting the next chapter of learning, building and collaborating. I can’t wait to dive deeper into computer science, work on new projects, and explore ways technology can have a positive impact.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
The hardest thing I’ve accomplished was progressing through DECA. It demanded consistent focus, long hours, and juggling a rigorous workload, but I loved it and stayed committed. I won my district in the first year, advanced to state the next, and became an ICDC finalist in my third year. The experience taught me perseverance and how to chase a passion even when it’s challenging

3 Things on your bucket list:
Win a competition and donate/invest towards a social cause
Visit Paris
Attend a Taylor Swift concert

Elorah Holland

Elorah Holland – Alabama
Nomination by Cheona Holland
Photography by Yellow Hammer Photography
Issue 94 of Inspiring Teens Magazine

Nomination: Elorah Holland is inspiring because she treats everyone with respect with the authenticity that comes from an old soul. She is vibrant and full of energy with the biggest smile. She is not only beautiful on the outside but she has a deep beauty that glows from the inside out. She sets goals for herself and has the confidence and grit to meet those goals. The only thing that may outshine her caring nature is her passion for her family values.

Photography by Yellow Hammer Photography
People describe you as having an “old soul.” What everyday choices or habits show that in action?
I feel like I have many habits that show this in action, but my top three are how patient and kind I am towards the children I babysit and watch in the nursery at church; my love for cooking and baking, I love to cook up a good homemade meal and surprise my family or even whip up some sweet treats for them after a long day; and lastly how I like to sit in my robe in the morning or evening watching the news with my warm cup of coffee.

What’s a recent goal you set —and what gritty, step-by-step actions did you take to reach it?
I recently set a goal for myself to buy a laptop for my school and future college life. The gritty, step-by-step actions I took for this were taking fifty dollars out of my paycheck and setting it aside to create my total amount that I owe towards the laptop. To achieve this, I told myself that I would need to spend less on my wants and focus solely on my needs.

What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
One aspect that my nomination does not capture is my vibrant outlook on life and my animated personality! I approach each day with enthusiasm, eager to embrace new experiences and connect with others, all while letting my natural cheerfulness shine through.

Share a moment when your animated, cheerful energy turned a tough situation around for someone else.
A few years ago, my family and I were going on vacation to the beach, and my mom missed the exit to get there. We started freaking out. My mom did not realize she had missed the exit. I started looking at my photos and realized that I had taken a picture of the exact exit we had to take. I made a joke saying, "I guess mom isn't the only nonobservant one." The whole car broke out into laughter, realizing it was a silly mistake.

What else would you like to talk about?
I am excited to share my aspiration of pursuing a degree in business and marketing, which I believe will be essential in helping me achieve my dream of opening my own coffee shop. This venture is not just about serving coffee; it is about creating a warm, family friendly and inviting space where the community can gather, enjoy high-quality brews, and experience exceptional service. I envision a coffee shop that combines innovative marketing strategies with a personal touch, allowing me to cultivate a loyal customer base and bring my passion for coffee to life.

Which family value will be the cornerstone of your coffee shop’s culture, and how will guests feel it the moment they walk in?
The cornerstone of my coffee shop’s culture will be a strong work ethic, which fosters dedication among staff and pride in their craft. Customers will sense this commitment as our baristas efficiently craft drinks and food. Additionally, we will emphasize honesty and loyalty, ensuring a trustworthy environment where customers’ needs are prioritized. By promoting transparency and dependability, we aim to build lasting relationships with patrons, making each visit feel valued and appreciated.

Paint your opening day: the vibe, playlist, greeting, and one signature drink that tells your brand’s story.
On our opening day, our coffee shop oozes a warm, inviting vibe filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and cheerful colors. We greet guests with "Welcome to our shop!" and offer kids fun stickers or cookie samples. Our playlist features light acoustic melodies and nostalgic tunes that everyone can enjoy. Our signature drink, "Mama's Latte,” blends espresso, steamed oat milk, lavender, and vanilla, symbolizing the warmth and connection my mom gave me. Each cup comes with a card sharing its story, inviting families to create their own cherished memories in a space that feels like home.

Menu meets marketing—describe a seasonal “food + coffee” pairing and exactly how you’d promote it in-store and online.
A seasonal food we would offer is our “Monster Mash Pancakes.” This would be a blend of our homemade pancakes, covered in cherry syrup, blackberry syrup, and apple syrup, topped with whipped cream and a set of fake vampire teeth for the Halloween season. The perfect drink to pair with this seasonal food is “Dracula's Blood,” a blend of our Sprite with cherry syrup, topped with vanilla cold foam and red sprinkles. To promote online, we would create social media content and collaborate with big brands. To promote in-store, we would display giant posters featuring our new seasonal items.

Community hub plans: what recurring event (study nights, open mic, entrepreneurship mornings, etc.) would you host and why?
I would host weekly "Entrepreneurship Mornings" at my shop to empower aspiring business owners and stimulate local economic growth. Each session would feature guest speakers sharing their experiences and practical advice, followed by networking opportunities for attendees to connect and collaborate. We could also include workshops on essential skills like marketing and finance management, ensuring participants leave with actionable knowledge. This supportive environment would not only build confidence among entrepreneurs but also foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, benefiting the entire community.

Quality and ethics matter—how will you choose your beans and measure sustainability, freshness, and consistency?
When choosing beans, it’s crucial to prioritize quality and ethics. I would source from reputable farms with certifications, ensuring sustainable practices and fair labor. Freshness is key, so I would look for recent roast dates rather than sell-by dates, as beans are best used shortly after roasting. Consistency can be achieved by partnering with suppliers known for quality control and stable growing conditions. By balancing taste with ethical sourcing and sustainability, I can ensure a superior product while supporting responsible farming practices.

Business brain: which marketing metric would you obsess over in year one (e.g., repeat visits, conversion from socials), and what’s your play if it dips?
In year one, I would focus on conversion rates from social media, as they are crucial for establishing a solid business foundation. If conversions dip, I’d analyze the customer journey to identify drop-off points, refine our audience targeting, and enhance content to better engage users. Running A/B tests on ad elements and implementing vigorous follow-up strategies for engaged non-converters would also be essential. Additionally, seeking feedback from visitors can provide valuable insights to shape our approach. These strategies would help not only address the dip in conversions but also strengthen connections with our audience.

What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever?
I could talk about food forever. I’m always eager to explore new cuisines and discover the delightful flavors they have to offer. There’s something thrilling about tasting exotic dishes, each one telling a unique story through its ingredients and spices. Whether it's savoring the warmth of a rich curry or indulging in the delicate balance of a well-crafted sushi roll, each experience is a delicious adventure waiting to unfold.

Food adventurer time: what dish from another cuisine taught you a life lesson—and how will that lesson shape you as a leader and future owner?
A dish that taught me a life lesson was crab legs; they once intimidated me with their spiky shells and odd shape. However, after trying them during a family beach trip, I was amazed by their sweet, tender meat and rich garlic butter. This experience taught me to embrace new flavors and adventures beyond my comfort zone.

How did you find your photographer and what did you love most about the experience?
Ever since I was a little girl, I would spend hours gazing at my photographer's page, mesmerized by the amazing images he shared. The models he showcased, with their captivating expressions sparked a dream within me to become one of them someday. What I cherish most about this art form is the incredible freedom it offers to express our unique personalities, allowing each person to tell their own story through a single frame. The creativity involved in capturing an individual’s essence is truly magical, and I long to be part of that world.

Are you a part of a model team with your photographer, and if so, tell us about it.
I am a part of the senior modeling crew with Yellowhammer Photography, and it has been a fantastic experience. I was selected during my junior year of high school, which is unique because mostly only seniors are chosen. My experience has been quite amazing because I have had the opportunity to meet different individuals from other schools, which I would not have known otherwise, without the modeling crew. It has been neat getting to know the unique personalities of each model.

What is a favorite memory with or thoughts of the person who nominated you?
One of my favorite memories with the person who nominated me is the delightful shopping sprees we would embark on together. The air would be filled with our laughter as we explored vibrant boutiques, filled with colorful clothes and sparkling accessories. We’d try on an array of outfits, twirling and striking silly poses in front of mirrors, our giggles echoing through the stores. After our stylish adventures, we would head to scenic locations for fun photoshoots, capturing the joy of the day and creating memories that still bring a smile to my face.

Why do you want to be in Inspiring Teens Magazine?
I hope to inspire younger girls, demonstrating to them that with determination and courage, they can achieve anything their hearts desire. I want to show them the limitless possibilities that exist when you believe in yourself and chase your dreams with passion and resilience.

If you win a scholarship, what will you do with the money?
I plan to save my money and issue it towards furthering my education in marketing and business. This investment will enable me to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in my career and bring my entrepreneurial dreams to life.

Is there anyone you'd like to thank for helping you to get where you are today?
My family has significantly influenced my life. My parents encourage me to pursue my passions in an environment that makes my dreams feel achievable. My siblings act as both friends and motivators, pushing me to improve while reminding me that mistakes are part of growth. Even my extended family provides support and valuable insights during challenging times. Each family member relays essential values like resilience, kindness, and hard work. I'm grateful for their profound impact on my journey and for shaping who I am today.

If you had nothing to do and all day to do it, where would we find you?
You would find me cozied up in my bed with my robe and blankets, watching Gilmore Girls.

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
Being selected for the yearbook is very hard because six to twelve are selected out of fifty to eighty applicants. To do this I wrote my answers thoroughly and explained why I would be a great fit for the team.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
No matter what anyone says, set a goal and achieve it, no matter how hard it seems to achieve.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
I see myself being a business owner of my small town coffee shop.

What is your favorite activity or pastime that was not in your nomination?
My favorite of all time is shopping, I could shop until I drop.

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
My artistic talents such as writing poems and taking pictures.

3 Things on your bucket list
Travel the world, meet Nick Saban, zipline through the Amazon Rainforest

Who do you find inspiring?
All the independent women in my family.

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I am a very goal oriented person who likes to achieve what is unachievable.
