Camden Francis –Massachusetts Nomination & Photography by Elaine Thompson Issue 55 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Camden Francis attends a prep school in Massachusetts. He is the founder of Beyond the Crisis, a non-profit organization that donates non-perishables to underprivileged families. He started BTC with his 13-year-old brother, Colton. They established the food distribution charity after the pandemic drove home for them the importance of helping others who are struggling to put food on their tables. One of the organizations they help is Catholic Charities of Boston. They’ve helped over 500 families. The brothers were recently on a well-known Talk Show in NYC. Camden was also nominated for Nickelodeon Kid of the Year in 2021.
What would you most like to be interviewed about? Camden would most like to be interviewed about why he started the charity organization; what it means to him and the families that he helps. Camden would also like to be interviewed about the process of starting his own organization. Additionally, he’d like to talk about the importance of giving back and being an example for others that you are never too young to make a difference.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? One inspiring thing about Camden that wasn’t covered in the nomination is that he has always been involved with community service projects. Among those are working in a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, and assembling and distributing Thanksgiving dinners to inner-city families. During the height of the pandemic, Camden wrote monthly letters to senior citizens who were shut-in to uplift and encourage them during those difficult times. Camden hosted multiple sessions of a virtual soccer and fitness camp which he founded (amidst the pandemic) to help athletes with disabilities. Camden’s camp ensured that these kids got significant exercise.
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be and why? A topic that Camden would enjoy presenting to a group of his peers is the importance of civic engagement; each of us have an obligation to help others. From a young age, Camden’s parents have instilled in him the desire to put others first and treat everyone with respect and dignity.
