Eden Price – Florida Nomination & Photography by Traci Sproule Photography Issue 72 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Eden believes passionately in serving others. She is 1st in command of a US Naval Sea Cadet Unit, a Congressional Gold Medalist and has over 400 hours of community service. She loves God, she loves people and she inspires others to do the same.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? As team captain and high-performance coxswain of my rowing team, it is my job to be the voice of reason and motivation. If my rowers are feeling tired and their muscles are aching during a long row, I'll start singing and telling jokes from my Cox seat to liven up their spirits. Right before my boat won the state championship and my rowers were feeling tired, I yelled out encouragement to the finish line. I make sure that in everything I do, I am lifting others up.
What else would you like to talk about? I plan on serving as a Nurse Corps Officer in the Navy, I have never been able to picture myself in a profession outside of hands-on service. I want to help save lives, I want to be the ounce of comfort found in a soldier's most discomforting moment. From when I was a young girl, little acts of service towards others have always brightened my day. Although my service continues to be small, one day I will dedicate myself to bringing aid at the cost of my own life so others may live.
What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever? The fascinating functions of the human body are something my mouth could run on about without ceasing. The way our body can mindlessly perform mitosis when we scrape our knees or how our brain translates signals from sensory receptors at the tips of our fingers with ease has always captivated my thoughts. How does my heart pump so much blood daily and why and am I able to breathe both consciously and subconsciously? Questions like these run around the prefrontal cortex of my brain. When I become a nurse, I will use this fascination to save lives.
How did you find your photographer, Traci Sproule Photography? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it? (If you took a selfie or your images are from an immediate family member and you'd rather not answer, you can put n/a in this box. Otherwise, please answer each of the three questions. I saw pictures on Instagram that my photographer shot and loved her work. She made me feel comfortable in all of the different poses and outfit changes. We had so much fun together. I would recommend her to all of my friends. She really captured my senior story!
