Emma Bunting – Michigan Nomination & Photography by Bird on a Wire Photography/Christine Crabill. Issue 59 of Inspiring Teens Magazine.
Nomination: Emma Bunting is an inspiring teen because she is determined, ambitious, and strong. She is a student athlete who strives first in the classroom and continues her success on the volleyball court. She takes the leadership skills she has learned as an athlete to volunteer in the community with children by ways of making holiday baskets and assisting at sports camps. Life has thrown her many curveballs during her high school career, between covid and the unfortunate shooting at her high school. Emma's perseverance and resiliency has proven to her that everyday is a new day and a chance to make the world a better place. She hopes to help make the world better and spread kindness everywhere she goes.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? I consider myself the best friend that will always be there for you. I am a caring individual who will always be by your side and offer support. It makes me happy when I can offer my help to my friends, family and community.
What else would you most like to talk about? I would like to mostly talk about overcoming the trauma and PTSD that I have encountered from my school shooting. It has not been easy, but I am determined to not let this take control of my life. I was not looking forward to stepping back into my school 2 months after November 30th. When I did, I realized that I was braver than what I thought. I'd like to tell my story about overcoming fear and becoming stronger every day.
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be and why? Social Media- This is how our generation communicates nowadays, which comes with good and bad effects. For example, we can use social media to communicate with others who we are distanced from. However, there is a lot of fake news that gets spread quickly which creates conflicts.
