How did you find your photographer, JS McGrew Photo? What was your experience like? What did you love most about it? Justin is a well-known photographer in our community for taking some of the most incredible photos and I knew when my senior year came around Justin would capture my love for sports. The images surpassed my expectations and I had so much fun working with him! He is so passionate about what he does. you'll find Justin on the sidelines of the high school sporting events to support the kids. not only is he there to take phenomenal action shots but is cheering us all on!
Tell us about your high school sports. I play 3 varsity sports. I play soccer, basketball, and tennis. Growing up, I was always playing a sport. I have made some of the greatest friendships and learned the most valuable lessons. It also helped me create a balance between school and sports. Having the ability to balance sports and school while maintaining good grades will help prepare me for a successful future.
Which is your favorite sport and why? My favorite sport is basketball. I have played basketball since I was in 1st grade and have always had a passion for it. I play year round with my club team and we travel all over for tournaments. With all the coaches I have had, they have all taught me different life lessons and built my confidence as a player and as a person.
What is your favorite accomplishment with one of your sports? My favorite accomplishment was my high school basketball season as a sophomore. I had started the season off as a swing player, playing both JV and varsity and by the end of the year I was full time varsity. That season we made it all the way to the state championship and ended up placing second. I am proud of all that I accomplished by working hard and earning my chance to play in the championship game.

What type of leader are you both on and off the field? I am the teammate that will always be there for you no matter what. During practices, I'll help you if you need it but I will push you to make you stronger and a better player. During games I always focus on lifting others up when they seem to be getting down after a mistake they made. I value having good relationships with all of my teammates and recognizing the importance of teamwork.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? Sports have always been something I've enjoyed doing since I was little. It has given me so many opportunities and has paved an inspiring path for me to want to study Health Sciences in college. I've always been motivated to do my best at everything I do. Sports are important to me but so is maintaining good grades. I've been able to balance my time between classes and sports even on those tough days when I'm exhausted! I always find a way to push through it!
How do you balance it all and stay on track? I am a very organized person and I believe that helps you balance both academics and sports. I always write my school assignments don somewhere whether it is on my planner or on my phone as a reminder. I also never procrastinate. It can be hard not to at times, but I always get work done before it is due so that i'm not waiting until the last minute.
What are you most looking forward to this next school year? I am going to be a senior so I am looking forward to all the fun experiences and times that I am going to have with my friends. I know that senior year is going to fly by, but I am going to cherish every moment before I leave for college next summer.
What is the biggest thing you are hoping to teach younger classmen? My biggest piece of advice is to get as involved as you can. Whether it is playing a sport or joining a club, try to be involved with your high school as much as possible. Trust me, you will meet new people, create the best friendships, learn a lot more, and gain skills that will help you be more successful in the future.
What else would you like to talk about? Yes I have been so blessed to have the opportunities I've had but that doesn't come without any bumps in the road. Last year during a basketball game I tore my ACL. I was devastated. I knew I would be out for a stretch of time. Instead of focusing on the negative, I took it as an opportunity to push myself to get back to sports. My injury in the long run Made Me Stronger and has led me down the path of wanting to pursue a career with a goal of helping others.

Tell us about your friends. Where do you fit in, and where do you stand out? I always believe that with friendships it is quality of quantity. I have a smaller group of friends but I know that I can trust them all. We all love going on hikes, paddle boarding, having the best sleepovers, and our favorite is going to the football games in the fall. I am definitely the friend who always gives advice and is the mom of the group but I always know how to have a fun time.
What is your family like and what is a favorite family tradition you hope never ends? I am very close with my family. We value spending time together as much as possible even with all of our different schedules with work and sports. A tradition that I hope never ends is getting together for the holidays, especially Christmas. Christmas is my favorite holiday and we always go to church every Christmas eve. I really enjoy going with my family and I hope that even when I leave for college, we all still continue that tradition.
What do you feel passionate about or could talk about forever? I am incredibly passionate about the need to help and teach others! Because of my passion for sports and overcoming an injury, it has led me to head in the direction of Health Sciences to either teach or work in an environment that allows me to lead others to success.
