Why did you choose Angie Read Photography for your senior photographer? What was your experience like?
I chose Angie Read Photography to be my senior photographer because I saw her beautiful and creative work with other young teens on social media as well as my sisters experience during her senior year working with Mrs. Angie that helped make my decision super easy. She captures the most perfect moments and encourages and makes you feel even more confident in yourself during each of her sessions. Mrs. Angie’s work ethic and drive to create amazing memories for you to look back on in the future helps capture really special moments, and I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else!

What do you do in her model team and what do you love most about being on team?
Throughout this past year in her model team, we have travelled to many different spots including Galveston and areas around Houston to take themed pictures to promote her wonderful photography. I have enjoyed every single session, my favorites being our Boho theme with a super cute van and Project Beauty. Taking pictures with these girls with Mrs. Angie has really allowed me to get super comfortable in front of a camera without feeling insecure or uncomfortable with how I look. What I love most about being a part of a team of seniors is being vulnerable in front of a camera and having the support system of the other girls encouraging and uplifting one another made this process so much fun. Being a part of Angie Read Photography has been the highlight of my senior year truly capturing memorable moments for me to cherish forever.

What is a favorite memory from being on the team?
My favorite memory was the first time I met the entire team with Mrs. Angie. This was a super memorable moment because every single girl created such a positive environment, and we started amazing bonds which made this year of taking photos so fun. Getting to know each other with fun games and yummy food made my night, and I knew I made a great decision joining the team. Picking our mini session themes, places we would travel to, and learning about all the volunteering opportunities we would have within this team created so much excitement. The process of being a senior and getting ready for college is stressful and having these girls as well as Mrs. Angie made my senior year much more enjoyable.

What else should we know about you?
Throughout my high school career, I have volunteered monthly in my community. Being able to constantly help those in need that are right outside our doorsteps truly is so rewarding. Seeing how their lives change by just simple acts of kindness and continual help makes me realize how beautiful the world around us is. Life by ourselves is hard and being there for someone can not only change their aspects on life but also yours!

Where have been some of the places you've volunteered, and which one have you spent the most time with? 
Why so much time with the one you picked? Places I have volunteered at since the beginning of my freshman year of high school include Northwest Assistant Ministries Resale Shop, NAM Meals on Wheels, IGO Pink, Paradise Springs Retirement Community, and Something Special Resale Shop. All these philanthropies represent amazing communities of people, and I have enjoyed my time spent helping those in need. Most of my volunteer hours were spent at Paradise Springs Retirement Community playing Bingo with the residents there. This place is filled with residents who are just in need of someone to talk to and spend time with, and I have made so many friends and thoroughly enjoyed talking and spending quality time with each and every one of the Bingo players. This was the highlight of most of my weekends over the summer, and really showed me how important spending time with your loved ones is!

What has been the most interesting or memorable volunteer experience?
My most interesting volunteer experience was dropping off meals with my sister and dad for the Northwest Assistant Ministries. Volunteering here was a very eye-opening experience and showed me how tough the real world can be. Every single participant that received a meal was so caring and thankful for our volunteerism and this continually pushed me to come back to try and help make a difference. Without this volunteering experience I feel that the world wouldn’t be as clear for me. It has shaped me into the person I am today and made me realize how lucky I am for the life my parents have provided for my sister and I!

If you could start your own volunteer organization, what would it be for and why is this matter so important to you?
A volunteer Organization that I would start would be for young children in need of necessities, toys, school supplies, etc. to help provide for those families that can’t for themselves. I have seen firsthand children who aren’t able to go home and have dinner at night or come to school and have a pencil to write with. This is heartbreaking and the sad reality and being able to make a difference in those children’s lives can start change.

​What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? 
Being confident in your own skin and feeling okay to be yourself is something inspiring I try to keep in my daily life. Young lives are continually being told to put certain aspects of their life on social media, and only show what people want to see. Being authentic and real with not only others but also yourself is so important to continue to grow and change as a person. Life can be bitter but being confident and empowered can only make it easier!

What do you think is the hardest thing for teens right now and what is your advice around it?
The hardest thing for teens right now in my eyes is to be authentic on social media. Our phones have created ways for people to hide behind their screens and not be themselves. This has been a constant battle for myself and has pushed me to be my most true self not only in person but online as well. Like I said before in a previous question people are encouraged to put a certain face on social media to look and act in certain fashions and being able to be true to yourself and show others who you really are can be a struggle. My advice to teens struggling with this is to find what truly makes you happy and make that the center of your life and surround yourself with people who support and care about your future. Stop letting social media control your life, and instead take that control back. Once you do you will find yourself living to please yourself and your happiness instead of others, and this will help you in the long run to live your own reality and not one that is only on social media.

What is something that makes your high school unique or fun that you participated in?
I participated in a club called Stand Leaders. This club brought students together who have lots of spirit and pride in their school to support student body in all areas of their achievements. I joined this club the beginning of my senior year, and I gained so many lifelong friendships as well as relationships with teachers and administration. Each game we wore a Stand Leader Jersey and hyped up our student section as well as the crowd to get the fire lit under our team to encourage them to be amazing. It was a unique and fun experience and made my senior year exciting!

What will you miss most about high school?
I will miss the close connections I have made with my peers I have been in school with since Kindergarten. It’s hard to move into the big bad world that’s out there and leave this bubble you have been in your entire life. Knowing that you have a bright future ahead is encouraging and exciting, but it’s hard to leave behind family and friends that have shaped you into the person you are today. I will miss that comfortable feeling of being home, but also am eager to have a fresh start and find myself in a new environment!

What is a favorite memory with your family?
My favorite memory with my family is Thanksgiving 2 years ago. This was our first family reunion since I was very young and being in one place with all my loved ones was an amazing feeling. Knowing that I have a support system that will continually be behind me in everything I do makes me realize how lucky I am! Family is so important to me, and I believe without that support system life can be so challenging. I have learned that people will come and go in your life, but your family will always be constant. Always keep them close and appreciate the time you have with them!

If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be and why?
A topic I am super passionate about is being inclusive to all our peers, and continually pushing everyone around me to be their true, authentic self. There is only one you in the world, and everyone should always feel like they can embrace who they truly are. Being unique and different is fun and should never be looked upon as negative but instead beautiful!
