Jordan Patterson - Kentucky Interview by Olivia Bush Nomination by Jenna Miller Photography by Cara Jonas Photography Issue 34 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
The Nomination: Jordan Kayla Patterson is a hard worker. Even during tough times she still manages to push through. I am Jordan’s best friend and she always talks about how she would love to attend the university of Louisville for nursing. She would love the opportunity to be able to help people and she is open minded to many ideas. She has also participated in a fashion marketing class that hosted a fashion show. Her class chose her as the leader because Jordan has great communication skills & plans very well.

How did you keep pushing through life's tough obstacles? I had a lot of family and schools issues that put me in a bad point in life and I was sad 24/7, and was gaining weight which almost caused me to lose my life. But through it all I’ve been able to put a smile on my face, help people who went through the same thing I did, be able to focus on me, and gain the self-confidence I needed.
Tell me about the fashion marketing class you took! What was it like helping to host a fashion show? Fashion marketing was such a fun class. Being put in charge to host the fashion show was incredibly stressful, but I made sure everyone was doing their part, made sure we had clothing from different boutiques, made sure we had sponsors, ect. I had such a fun time through it all with the help of my friends in the class of only 13 - 12 were girls and 1 boy. We all put our hearts into this show and it turned out amazing!!

What is a typical day volunteering at St. Elizabeth like? Volunteering at St. Elizabeth was such an amazing experience. I learned new things in radiology and ultrasound. A typical day in the hospital was checking in patients who came for an x-ray and putting in another appointment for them to come back, but some days I was switched to ultrasounds if radiology was slow and had no one there. Being able to switch was really amazing because I was able to take a look at each ultra sound being made and what I was looking at was so cool.
What has inspired you to want to pursue a career in nursing? I think looking at today’s society there are a lot of people who need more medical help not just in the United States but in different countries. I am blessed to even be accepted to volunteer at St. Elizabeth because I want just a more general background on what I would like to do as a career. I love being able to see the joy on people’s faces after giving them great care and helping them through what they are going through. I would love to be able to travel around the world and help more people who need the medical help.

Why is being in Inspiring Teens Magazine so important to you? Being in inspiring Teen Magazine means so much to me because I went through such a hard process to being able to have self-love and confidence in myself. I was able to grow and know my worth and I would love to spread that love and knowledge to girls and even guys going through the same thing as me. Being a model doesn’t mean to be a certain size, it means to be able to love you as who you are.
Jordan will be featured in issue 34 of Inspiring Teens Magazine!
