Katie Collier – Kentucky Nomination & Photography by Kayla Collier Issue 57 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Katie had scoliosis surgery at 11 years old, her spine is fused together with rods and 26 pins, she is wise far beyond her years and is an inspiration to anyone who knows her. She has had her fair share of ups & downs, and still faces them headstrong. I can only hope that one day she will see herself as the beautiful, talented & wonderful young lady that she has become. I am so proud and so thankful to be a part of her journey. We can't wait to see where her future takes her.
What would you most like to be interviewed about? I would most like to be interviewed about the hardships and joys that come from having scoliosis surgery. You should definitely know that I am a very hard worker and very determined. I'm very kind and I love to work with kids and help people.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover?
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be and why? I would present a topic on scoliosis and the surgery I had to have. It is very hard to have at such a young age. The pain, recovery and journey I went though was very difficult and long, but I wouldn't change it for the world. It made me who I am.
