Layla Hill Nomination & Photography by DoraMarie Photography LLC Issue 63 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Layla is passionate about flag football. I could tell the moment she put her uniform on she was in her element. Last year was the inaugural year for flag football at her school so she was on the first team ever. She is also a peer facilitator at her school and she works with the kids with special needs. She’s an AB student and works part time.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? I have really enjoyed working with peers with special needs. I have the opportunity to watch them progress every day and be part of that experience. Seeing life through their eyes is something I’m so grateful for. I’ve been so inspired by working with my peers I’ve decided to pursue an education in a field supporting individuals with special needs.
What else would you like to talk about? My family and culture are very important to me. My Grandmother is Japanese, and I love learning about and participating in Japanese traditions.
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be? One of the things that I’m most passionate about is flag football. I love absolutely everything about the sport. From playing offensive and defensive positions to standing on the sideline and cheering on my teammates. I’ve been forming new friendships with teammates and learning from my coaches. I’ve been successful in the sport due to consistently attending practices and camps whenever they’re offered. Football has given me a new level of confidence. It relieves stress and it provides a fun way to stay healthy. I have had so many exciting experiences playing football, including playing at events hosted by the Arizona Cardinals and being interviewed by local news stations. Thank you, flag football.
