Nomination: Makenna is a senior in high school this year and continues to display grace and positivity in everything she does. She is highly involved in her school activities and community. She stays connected to her school and peers through her participation in music, theater, sports and clubs. Music and theater have been important parts of Makenna’s life. She learned how to play the French Horn in band before transitioning to the Clarinet. During the high school theater productions, Makenna can be found in the pit during the musical productions and working with the stage crew and lighting during plays.

What Clubs are you involved in at school? I’m a part of book club, interact, and National Honors Society
Which is your favorite and why? My favorite is book club cause it’s a time to hang out with all my friends and talk about books. Sounds Like a win win to me.
What leadership roles have you had? I’m the President of book club and now my friend rylee and I handle uniforms for marching band.
What have you learned about yourself as a leader? I’ve learned that I try to be a soft leader. I don’t like to be mean and demanding.
What do you love about music? I love how beautiful it is. Music can be gorgeous if you play it right.
What is your favorite genre to play? Do you have a favorite go-to song? What is it? My favorite genre of music to play is pop music. My favorite go to song is Hallucinate by Dua Lipa.
What is your favorite memory in your role in theater? My favorite memory was my first ever show freshman year. At my school, we do these little games before the show to get everyone pumped up. All the positive energy is so uplifting and makes me so excited for every show.
Tell us about one of your volleyball career. I don’t anymore but for a long time I played volleyball for my school. I only stopped because I wanted to focus more on school and theater. I’ve been playing volleyball since 5th grade. All the way to my senior year of high school, volleyball was a huge part of my life. I always played volleyball because it was fun, not because I wanted to win.
What was your favorite accomplishment in sports? My favorite accomplishment from volleyball was going to regionals my junior year. It was an amazing experience for everyone on the team.
How did you find and why did you choose Sheila Harris for your senior photographer? I’d known Sheila for a while before my photo shoot. I’d seen some of her previous work and knew that it would be amazing.
What was your experience like? What did you love most about it? My experience was amazing. Sheila is an amazing photographer and is able to have fun while she does it. There were so many jokes and I couldn’t ask for a better photographer.
