​The Nomination: Morgan Bowen is a hardworking involved leader within her community. Participating four years within student council and art club. This enthusiastic, talented varsity cheerleader is known for her school spirit. As a dedicated working team member within her seven years playing lacrosse, Morgan understands teamwork. With excellent communication and behavior skills she hostesses at Kennsington Bar and Grille year around. With her busy schedule she maintained a 3.467 gpa and uses her select female ensemble as an outlet for her expressive personality. Modeling allowed Morgan's confidence to shine through, and many others see that within this bright young woman.

​You have a lot on your plate - what keeps you so driven to try so many different activities while holding a super high GPA & holding down a job?
What keeps me so driven and motivated is my parents. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in a household that’s extremely hardworking and supportive. Knowing how badly they want me to succeed makes me work twice as hard. I’m confident that continuing to multitask and deal with stressful situations, I will be better prepared for the real world. Hopefully, I can meet their standards and continue to make them proud of me! My entire family has accomplished so much in life, I hope to join them very soon.

What roles and responsibilities did you have with the student council and what was a favorite activity within your leadership role & why?
In student council I was an active member. As a class I got to vote for school executive decisions, have a say, and overall help my school! My favorite activity was participating in the yearly blood drive. I had the opportunity to stand alongside students donating and making sure they were okay. I love taking care of people, being able to do that hands on was an amazing experience. I look forward to it every year! This yeah with the COVID-19 virus ongoing I’m not sure if I will be able to have the opportunity to participate. It breaks my heart but hopefully I’ll be able to help out!

With your activities, you have a lot of teams to contribute to. What would you say are your characteristics of a team player? What do you bring to the table?
As a member of both the cheerleading and lacrosse team I do have a lot of responsibility on my hands. For example, this year for cheerleading I was in charge of leading stretches and organizing cheerleaders and basketball players for Canfield vs Poland night. Poland is our rival team and this year we will be hosting our senior night during the halftime of that game. Pairing up jv and varsity cheerleaders alongside all the basketball players was a harder task! However, they knew I could do it! For lacrosse I’ve been told I’m one of the loudest and proudest on the team. I’m in charge of leading stretches before games and at practice! I get along with all my teammates and always have words of encouragement! I like to support my team to the best of my ability! I love all my teammates and fellow cheerleaders I am very proud of all of our accomplishments we’ve made together!

​What is select female ensemble and how do you use it as an outlet for your personality?
Personally I use music as an outlet for my feelings. As a child suffering with anxiety, I struggled to talk about how I truly felt. Alongside writing I would sing songs that would relate to me. It made me feel together again. Singing in a female ensemble has only strengthened me and encouraged me to be myself. There’s a meaning behind every lyric, some people don’t always catch it. Every song has a meaning and it’s beautiful. I’m very blessed to have found singing and have had an amazing grandmother to be my number one fan. Sometimes people can’t understand what you feel, so why not sing it instead.

What do you love most about modeling at Jennifer Grace Studios?
I love having someone as caring, fun and talented as Jenny to keep me on an amazing team. Modeling with Jenny has boosted my confidence tremendously! Without her I’m not sure where I would be today! Jenny has opened so many doors of opportunity to me and for that I am grateful. The overall experience of meeting new people and creating friends along the way is amazing! I’ve built so many strong friendships and have even got to travel a little bit along the way! Jenny is not just any photographer. She is like a second mom to me. I’ve struggled a lot with image and personal issues that she has been able to help me with. She’s always just a text or phone call away. Modeling with Jenny’s team is not just fun, it’s family!

What is the hardest thing you have ever accomplished, and how did you do it?
The hardest thing I’ve ever accomplished occurred in 2019. There was a time where my sisters lungs collapsed, and she was almost taken away from me. During that time, I grew the strength and responsibilities of an adult. My parents were stuck with her for weeks in the hospital. I was left with school and my younger brother. Getting through all of that during the thanksgiving holiday was extremely rough. But at the end of the day, I kept my head high and overcame the worst. Luckily, everyone is in good health as of now!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be where you are today?
I waited a long time to be myself. I regret that decision deeply now! It took me ten years of trying to fit in to school to realize it was not working. If you just stay true to who you are you would not believe the doors that will open for you! Stay confident, keep a smile on your face, and don’t change for anyone but yourself!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years/what are your plans?
In five years I hope to be working on my masters in college after already receiving my bachelors from YSU! I would love to have a job where I can travel the world! There are so many places to see and things to do! Hopefully, I will find an amazing job within the travel industry. Who knows I might just be the next big travel writer or travel photographer! I do plan on moving around a lot! Wherever the road takes me is where I belong.

Spend one New Year’s Eve in Paris
Go on vacation to Africa with my sister!

Who do you find inspiring?
I find my mother incredibly inspiring! Throughout the years I’ve noticed that I’m becoming her! That sounds a little crazy I know, but we all have a little bit of someone in us! Her personality and confidence had help shaped and molded me into who I am today! I love her with all my heart and am so happy to have her in my life!

What about you inspires others/why do you think you are inspiring?
I’ve been told by a few that my confidence and compassionate personality is amazing. Many have said that just having me talk to them and listen has helped them tremendously. I will always take care of people whether they take care of me! I know what it’s like to go through rough patches in life, so being able to help others in points of hopelessness means the world to me.
