Peyton Fisher – Ohio Nomination & Photography by Laura Esposito Photography Issue 65 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Peyton inspired me as her photographer with her bright smile that drew me in to see her generous heart and dedication to service. She is involved in her church's Children's Ministry. At school, she is a varsity cheerleader, choir member, and the secretary for the National Honor Society. She also worked the last two summers at her church camp. This past year, she was a Day Camp Counselor. Peyton has been accepted to Cedarville University where she will be majoring in psychology with a minor in biblical counseling to pursue her ultimate goal of becoming a Christian psychologist.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? I am also involved in Tri-M, an honors fine arts team that organizes service projects and works with younger music classes. This year, I have become part of a discipleship group at my church to prepare me for mentoring youth and my peers. Additionally, I have committed to go on two mission trips this summer (Nicaragua and Ireland) to serve and witness to people and cultures from other parts of the world.
What else would you like to talk about? I would love to talk about my major. Since I was younger, my desire for my future was to use my career for the benefit of others. With psychology, I can explore different areas of people groups that I would absolutely love to play a part in helping, including domestic abuse survivors, autistic children, and those in addiction recovery.
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be? I would present about the effects of PTSD. My family has recently undergone a tragic incident that left some imprints of trauma on each of us. Until now, I had never truly seen how PTSD can affect individuals and families. Since I am going into psychology, PTSD is a disorder in which I am very passionate about and one in which I would love to explore further.
