Sienna Ni – Maryland Nomination & Photography by Erica Land Photography Issue 63 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Sienna Ni has an inner strength that never ceases to amaze me. Although she struggles with an overwhelming anxiety disorder, she has learned healthy ways to manage her stress and improve her quality of life. While anxiety often affects one’s self-confidence, participating in Erica Land Photography’s Project Beauty taught Sienna to accept and trust herself. Project Beauty gave Sienna the courage and confidence to ask for help, to share with others how she feels, and to ultimately learn what true beauty really is.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? As part of Erica Land Photography's Teen Ambassador program, I participate in monthly volunteer activities for organizations in our area. Our team attended CureFest in DC and held a fashion show to raise awareness for childhood cancer. I also led a baby clothes drive and backpack drive for families in need, and I hosted a Hope Totes Packing Party where we filled drawstring bags with basic necessities for those experiencing homelessness in our community.
What else would you like to talk about? I would like to talk about the importance of bringing awareness to teens who suffer from anxiety, as well as the strategies used to manage it. I'd also love to talk about my high school Poms team!
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be? I would present strategies to manage anxiety. I feel it's important for teens to know they are not alone, and there are coping strategies and resiliency skills that can help them find relief and live a mentally healthy life!
