Summer White – Texas Nomination & Photography by Angie Read Photography Issue 56 of Inspiring Teens Magazine
Nomination: Summer White has always been an inspiration to her family and friends. Shel loves sports and has been involved with many different sports all her life. So many of her friends tried new sports and loved it, thanks to her positive and loving encouragement. The leadership role she has as varsity cheer captain and varsity baseball manager has been a fabulous experience for her. She had the opportunity to not only encourage her peers, but also teachers, administration, and other parents. The cheer team came in 2nd at nationals and everyone huddled around Summer because they knew she would have the perfect speech for them at that time. The varsity baseball team recently lost at the state level and Summer was the one that calmed the team down and reminded them just how amazing they all were to even get to that game. Summer always has a smile on her face and an encouraging word for everyone she sees.
What would you most like to discuss? I’d like to discuss the importance of the balance between education and physical education. You cannot be successful in one without the other. If you want to be successful academically, you must be taking care of yourself mentally and physically.
What inspiring things about you does your nomination not cover? My dedication to being a good friend. I am constantly trying to push my friends who seem to be going through a hard time. College applications and acceptances were a troubling time for myself and my friends. We took on extra tumbling lessons, extra coffee dates, and some really fun dinners to relieve stress! I like to think I am a good distraction and source of positivity and encouragement during stressful times. I believe everyone was born to do something big whether it is a small task or big one! We all have a purpose!
If you were to present a topic to a group of your peers, what would it be? I would like to present the need for physical exercise! What I think lacks in my generation is the push for exercise. Something as simple as a walk outside helps our endorphins. It’s important to do something as simple as going out for a walk to soak in some vitamin d. We are losing the importance of putting our phones down and enjoying the sunshine today!
